SVS One On One Contest. ???
 

Hello All,

After seeing Phil's amazing work at putting together the Team vs Team SVS contest, I had a thought. To maybe add a little more to the contest.. or fun, how about a One to One SVS Tournament.

Here is what I am thinking. First... this is showcase a captains true talent, as all he has is himself.

Now, anyone want to add to this, post ur suggestions. Well have to all come together on this to make it happen. Here is what I am thinking for the basics. Now, note that I have done this with many guilds and other pirates and have had alot of good feedback as it is fun. Also, we could do Crew vs Crew One on One.

Ok, to start...


Class: WAR SLOOPS ONLY... No other class.

10 per side.

We will have all participating ships meet at center of islands.. and have our judges there as well.


Rules..

Stay within the SVS relm, no running..
No gunners.. SAILING SKILLS ONLY.... Just Captains..

It will be a best 2 out of 3.. per battle. Lose 2 Battles and your out of the Tournament.

Matchups will be RANDOM DRAW. We will have 2 or 3 ships fighting at a time. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions on how to make it fair.

Time: 10:30pm EST (Eastern Standard Time)

Where: NAVONA Ocean.

Meet at FRENCH Island. Near Sam (the ammo guy)

I will be posting the contestants and matchups that night.

I think this could work and sounds fun. I think either way would be fun, but for those who are mainly cannoneers I think one on one with crews could involve more people and be fun for everyone. Ill sign up either way, just let us know which way you are going to go, with or without crews :)
I also agree that there should be a mixture of battles.. not guild specific.. maybe some kind of random draw, or alphabetical order by ship name, some type of system that puts up ships to battle randomly.
I feel all of the POSITIVE feedback from tonight can help us develop something we can all be happy with. Kudos to all of those who were able to keep it positive and fun.
Phil I also enjoy the team vs team aspect and will always sign up to participate. Great job and remember, all great Ideas had a few wrinkles in them in the beginning :)

I think this is a GREAT suggestion!!
Why not do both ? eh?

It can work easily...

you can do both at the same time .. you would need observers and strict boundaries. Definitely no running. And I suggest if we don't have enough to fill both teams out that we have Observers launch say galleons or light sloops to fill the sides to keep out unwanted attacks from other ships. One observer is not enough for 20 ships. If you want I'm sure we can find people willing to make sure everything is fair and all rules are being followed.

and a random draw for the opponent... perhaps observers crewing together and choosing a number between 1-100... then have the captains say a number - two closest to the number face off. Repeat until you have all captains assigned for the first round. Launch your ships and have first elimination round winners based on 2 out of 3 sinkings. This way if more than 20 captains apply you can still have them in the competition... The observers will need to help keep track of the winning ship for the second elimination round. You follow the same procedure until you get it a winning ship - with each round less ships will be involved until you get to the final two ships. This may be spread over several nights or a certain night in the week. Could be great fun
