Animated avatar?
I have noticed many people on the forums have animated avatars ,
is there a places or way i can make one or is it done for you when you reach a certain number of posts? |
There are quite a few in the preset ones. You can also make your own using different programs (photoshop, etc).

Well I know many, along with myself, make their animated avatars. I personally use Photoshop Elements thought I'm finding the version I have is both limited and glitchy. If you have Photoshop Elements I have a few sites that could help you create your own.
As to whether it has to do with any number of posts I would have to say no. If you'd like I can attempt to make one for you, but I have to admit.. Compared to some of the amazing graphics skills I've seen on here, mine are quite limited. Either way I'd love to help ya out if you want me to. Just shoot me a PM :) |
I use JASC Animation for most of my graphic work. This avatar here was made by Swashbukler II, but he used JASC Animation as well. ;) (I actually need to update it)
If you want the link you can PM me and I would be more then happy to give it to you. |

The maximum size of your custom image is 65 by 65 pixels or 146.5 KB (whichever is smaller). If its larger then that it will be set to 146.5, and will kill the animation completely. If it came out right on animation, and wont work here, well thats why. ;) What you can do is lower the quality of the image when you save it (It wont look that great, but the animation will work.) If you want me to do it for you, yea I could, but Ill need the working animation, I could fix it up so it works here as your avatar. :) Good luck mate. |
Thanks, its 96 kb and I guess ill lower the graphics or something lol, thanks alot for the help
well, now its 126.4 kb but that should stil work... |
Yea it should... Thats weird, hmm...
Are you saving it to your computer, and then uploading it here? There is a bug with VBulletin in the last update where you couldnt post links in the edit avatar area, if you're doing that. When you upload the avatar, it is set to reach the requirements, unless of course, it already reaches the requirements, which in this case, it should. ;) |
Yup, it is messed up lol

I use Fraps to capture video sequences from the game.
I then open the video sequence captured from the game (an AVI movie file) with Jasc Animation Shop (comes with Paint Shop Pro). With Jasc Animation shop I am able to remove half the frames (makes smaller filesizes, plus animated graphics do not display frames as fast as AVI/video). I then would crop the area of the video that I want to keep. Then I use Animations shops features to crop the video clip how I want it, and save it as a GIF file. Jasc Animation shop being designed to develop GIF files, has an optimizer that will help make the file as small as it possibly can be and still display your animation. One can also of course copy/paste/import thier own frames into the application to make a completely custom form of animation, like the ones that vary display of letters/pictures. The avatar for the dueces of the pirate lass throwing dirt was made this way, although I had to actually copy/paste 2 animations together to get the gal, and the dueces cards zooming up. To have the animation continually repeat, there is a "Repeat" or "Loop" feature in gif files to instruct them to display over and over. |
Sorry, i switched the Image to the single version because I was messing with the other, Ill put up the animated version if you want.
added: It is the animated one now added: I changed it to the 135kb one just now, so see if what you were trying to do works now thanks |

Is it supposed to be? |
I use Anigif to animate mine, it shows it is but it is not working, and i dont know why. also, i think we have a time difference, at 3:30EST i did not have the animated, but mabey at 3:30PST???
Sometimes i get confused with photoshop, so I use the simpler version I also like GIMP software, i know they are the free ones and dont haave as many tools but I like simple lol my photoshop is like 10,000 buttons Accually, If someone could simplify how to make pretty good Graphics and Animations on GIMP (Photoshop) I would be greatly helped. Thanks. |
