Four excellent weeks
 

For those of you who didn't stay on really late last night, I am a very happy pirate indeed today. Exactly 4 weeks ago today Kat O'hara became a Duece. So I'm sort of celebrating today.

When I left where I had been before I wasn't sure where I was going to go, and was thinking about leaving the game. Then my best friend became a pirate. But I still felt I could never do the game alone. I knew what I wanted and needed from a guild, but had no clue where to find it.

I came looking on POF, checked out the recruitment threads on the guilds here. A couple I knew I wasn't going to be happy in, and two I popped of PMs to the GM of. Can't thank you enough for listening through those first couple of long PMs Basil. I knew there was major potential for the Dueces to be the right guild, but I was nervous. Boy am I glad you told me where to look for DWs.

4 weeks ago tonight, and I will never forget this, I was standing just outside Murky Hollow, having been in game for over an hour and not seen a single other pirate. As luck would have it, while I was standing there thinking about leaving, Jac comes running up. I really did shock you that night when I told you Basil told me where to look for DWs didn't I?:laughks2: I admit at first I didn't believe you were who you said you were. I don't get that lucky usually.

After my not so great first guild experience, do you know I almost said no in that one moment when the guild offer popped up? I was hesitating because of the past. Then all of you came TPing in. Honestly, I never realized just how many DWs there were. And every one of you was nice. (Haha, I know, killing our bad name here.) 4 seconds was all it took to be sure I had found the right place. I never felt as welcomed anywhere as I did that night.

What do you know, after 4 weeks, it just keeps getting better! Every day someone says something or does something that makes me even more sure Dueces is the place for me. So ya, today I am a very happy pirate indeed! I wanted to post that, and to say thanks guys, for everything. You brought new life to a cranky new player, and gave me a reason to love Pirates. From the very first dirt you made me feel like I belonged. So tonight, the rum flows free and it's on Kat. I can't thank you enough for these last 4 excellent weeks, and can't wait to see what the future holds....

We're glad to have ya Kat! Feels like you've been here all along. Now quit ruining our rep telling everyone we're nice!

GM is getting TIRED of all these guildies saying how NICE we are, how much FUN we have, what a GREAT guilld to be part of, and on, and on, and on....... This is like 5 or 6 threads I have seen this TRIPE in the last few weeks.

How can we maintain our reputation as the BIG, MEAN, ROTTEN, most often BANNED, always in TROUBLE, dirt throwing, dog piling, plundering looters that we worked SOOOOO hard to earn when there are people saying nice things about us???

Next person to post anything like this gets thrown to Gen Darkheart!!
Then Keelhauled.
Then has to spend an entire evening with Jess as their pirate partner!!!! (Now there's a punishment!)

Don't MAKE me pull this ship over right here in the middle of this ocean to come down there and swat you one!

I am not afraid of you Bas (much) lol so I second Kat's sentiments & glad we are here in the nuthouse together!! Jess we will have a fun playdate!

I know this is a Dueces thread, and I ain't no Duece, but i do want to say that I LOVE reading posts like this. Congrats to both you, The Hawke, and DW. It sounds like the two of ye were meant for each other.

And I must disagree with Basil--yer barque is far worse than yer bite!

Don't need to look it up Bart! 3 or more masts, square sail rigging midships, triangular sails fore and aft. One of the more popular ship types of the Golden Age. Now you forcing me to do this. Bug, you are banished to one night of pure misery! (I will let you and Jess work out the details of WHEN and WHERE.) **Now waiting for Jess to review and comment on all this!**

Haha, so first I read a great thank you from Hawke. We are thrilled to have you, and glad to hear we leave such a great impression.

Then I read the reasons Hawke and I both love this guild so much. I love it!!!!

Basil, if you are so worried about our rep, we should really reinstate the tar and feathering of new players. They tend to keep their mouths shut when they are melted together with third degree burns and feather quills.

Pfffft, they'd rather spend time with me anyway.

Basil be nice. Hawke hasn't run out of her supply of syrup from her pixie days...she's just pouring it out to make room for more rum. *getting some pancakes.. hate to let syrup go to waste.

We can be mean, rotten, plundering, rum-swilling pirates later.

Seriously, I agree with you completely, Kat! This group of people is what keeps me coming back to Pirates, when there's nothing new to do in-game. Then I think of the fun I have with DW and how Basil and Sarah and Kelly and so many others keep thinking of new, fun things to do.
The support here is the best part!
