Ship Customization
 

ok they're finally making new content :dancetl6: and we all (most of us) want ship customization but knowing disney they'll end up doing it half way and say its finished lets tell them what we want draw paint make in 3d lego wood replica what ever you want just leave no detail unscaved and post post post I should have mine up in a little bit then we e mail the link to disney and lets hope we can get what we want remember one design could mean its made or not

I know I've seen this b4 but I like the idea of a captain's cabin with closets for more clothes!!!
And a place to keep our treasures...

Aye, its a common subject. Comes up every now and again, alot of which may have recently been archived.
Always good to hear fresh ideas from newer members, and perhaps even to rehash some of the old ones.

We have told Disney what weve wanted for ship customization numerous times over the last year and half, including the 'send the link to Disney/Potco'.
We are hoping its nearing time to release it, not start developing it! ;)

Note: POTCO developers and gms have stated that they review our site. We believe somewhat regularly.

Weve had alot more comprehensive/detailed suggestions for ship customization, or sailing features.

Flag customization
Sail customization
Cannon configurations
Deck design
Hull configurations
Repairing at sea
Captains cabin, or any place a pirate may call his home....
Realistic currents, and weather on the high seas.
These are generalized, whereas weve had other members go into great detail as to what they thought would be cool in the game.

well to add to that i want it to be more like making a pirate , to
adjust the length of the ship by that bar and have the amount of feet/ meters below it

as well as i want more ship types and more realistic ship types
the frigates and galleons look nothing like the actual galleons and frigates that sailed ill post a picture below, i would like the following ships in the game

East Indiaman ( type of ship that the pearl is ) should cost around 264k in gold
Ship-of-the-Line ( dauntless / endeavor ) has 100 cannons and would cost around 350k in gold
Galley a small Arabic ship with a few cannons and area for cargo cost around 10k in gold
Brig ( Interceptor) a medium size ship almost as fast as a sloop and more cargo 15k gold
Brigantine a little faster than a brig and holds more cargo 17K gold
Xebec a ship twice as fast as a sloop hold around the same cargo and has around 18 broadside cannons total and about 25k gold
Schooner a common pirate ship a slower than a brigantine but holds more cargo and guns16K
Cutter a very small ship hold about 6 board side cannons total and has a speed that of a sloops holds around 7 cargo 1K
Flute a ship smaller than a galleon a little faster but less guns and cargo room12K

Nice suggestion! Although I don't think they'd try hard on those because they are already in a different game. Maybe something like them, but don't get your hopes up, especially since we haven't had real evidence they've even started on this.

well these ships arent made up they really existed ( some still do )

but every pirate game has these ships commonly

Frigate
Galleon
Sloop
Schooner
Man-o-war / Ship Of The Line
East Indiaman

Those are COMMON classes of sailing vessels, no game has any rights to.

Disney just picked three very different classes that could be recognized by their single biggest trait. Galleon for cargo, Frigates for guns and sloops for speed.

Honestly, customization will likely come in the form of altering CURRENT ship types first. For instance... adding armor and guns would slow down your sloop, while removing some cargo space or armor would speed up your galleon, etc. Or they may only allow for cosmetic changes (wood color, sail design and gun types)

If they were to bring in various hull types, the best answer would be to break it down into the ship's primary feature - cargo, combat or speed.

Personally - I would love to see the broader array of ships, but can understand all the added complications. They could just change it to something like (Ex: Medium Cargo Ship [same stats as a current galleon] but you can choose from Galleon, Junk or Schooner hulls).

however i think POTCO should really work on making the current ships look more like the original version of said ship

like the frigates in POTCO looks nothing like real frigates

the galleons in POTCO look like man-o-war ships of the line

as for the sloops they are fine

Nope, lol.

I've tried to post that in the Grog Blog but they keep rejecting it. Maybe they don't want any Skull and Cross Bones flags. Who knows, maybe it's something disney really thinks pushes the border on the E10+ reating.

Oh yes, the classic skull flag is what pushes Disney too far; nothing about rum or alcohol, or any of that stuff we try to keep our children from...... :laughks2:

lol it went from ships to rum. back to ships. i like those ship classes but add a barque. it was a cargo ship and could outmaneuver a schooner

Disney is walking a tightrope with the whole topic.

Pirates were bloodthirsty thieves who plundered, pillaged, stole, looted, burned and weren't exactly nice to women (female pirates not withstanding). They drank, fought, murdered, threatened, brutalized etc. and almost NEVER met a good end.

Now, let's make them a subject of a kid's game!

Of course, you're going to take a lot out of what makes a pirate - a pirate.

What you have left is kinda' a partying bunch of frat boys and girls with a loose taste for style, short tempers and kleptomania with vandalism thrown in and only a few moments stay in the pokey is the threat of justice... not the noose.

NOT that I'm NOT having fun. I am! Just keep it in perspective. Despite the SHEER VOLUME of adult players - this has to be kept at a level for kids.

I highly doubt that they'll add a Ship Customization content where it goes all out.. if anything, they'll probably end up adding content where you can put Tattoos from the tattoo parlor to be put onto your ship (as seen in one of the leaked pictures); unless however, they decide to release Ship Customization with the new ship from the Ship Naming Contest
