http://piratesonline.go.com/#/news_b...nance_upcoming
July 21, 2009

As part of ongoing improvements to our systems, Pirates Online will be performing scheduled maintenance from Wednesday, July 22 at 9PM Pacific Time until Thursday, July 23 7AM Pacific Time. During this time log-in to the website and game will be unavailable, and those in game may lose connectivity.

These are estimated outage times, maintenance may take longer. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you

oh my, I wonder whats coming :D

Sven Niscadae 07-21-2009 06:43 PM

Just sounds like server maintenance to me. A good system cleaning, a defragmention of the hard disks, maybe hardware upgrades? But it's good they're keeping the foundation of what the game runs on in shape.

Must be important, I really enjoy seeing that red pop up every few minutes! They show it on the site.. I don't think the pop up is really needed..

LOL It would appear so. They're giving you all a 10 hour break to rest your fingers (and get some sleep)! :psmiley35:

Maybe they realized by making everyone rank constantly they are beginning to get even more bored. So in an attempt to stop that there is a "convenient" maintenance.

Dr. Zeppers 07-21-2009 07:05 PM

I have to agree with Sven.

The length of this maintenance window somewhat spells out... hardware maintenance.

Hopefully they can eliminate more instances of any server lag folks are experiencing.

Does seem pretty strange they would do it in the middle of one of their "events" however.

Aragorn6418 07-21-2009 07:59 PM

Not really a surprise to me.
Didn't they do a maintenance thing when they had a double gold event?
Anyway, I hope they do at least a bit of these great updates they keep telling us they'll put in. :)

mlratto 07-21-2009 08:08 PM

hardware maintenance is always good. maybe they are installing an upgraded game engine.

who knows...but nice to know they are working on things!

Aragorn6418 07-21-2009 08:33 PM

I think they will at least put the revive thing in the maintnance update.
It looks like they have been really trying to get it out there. I doubt they will stick the lvl 45 guy in though, at least until they discuss raising your lvl cap. I'm glad they are busy trying to improve gameplay though! Maybe they will make it better for my laptop (the player profile things crash the game when I try to open them and some other random crashes).

hmm, Worst case senario: If this is a, Buggy kraken.....
It does seem like system maitenence, all that good stuff

MacIronhawk 07-22-2009 12:34 AM

And right when I'll be at the beach. Great timing on my part.:laughks2:

When was the last time they did maintenance that lasted this long? It must be something that needs to get fixed now(or updated) if they're going to have to do it in the middle of an event.

Or could be something they had to make sure certain staff would be available for, and they took the first available window. May not be much of anything, just annual preventive maintenance for that matter, lets just hope everythings back up and operating timely as posted and that we are no worse off than we were before.

Maximvs 07-22-2009 01:19 AM

Since I'm not sure what platform the servers would run - and since Microsoft Patches are usually put on after testing (since they were released last week), maybe its possible that this DT is all about server patching...

Just my guess :)
