POTC Online on Windows Vista?

So, I am currenty planning on getting an ultimate gaming machine... the Vista... The only problem is, I don't know for sure if POTC Online will work on Vista. I recently emailed the creators if it will and I am awaiting my response. I currently want the Vista because my current Toshiba labtop really stinks. I don't know the specs of my Toshiba, but I do know some specs of my future Vista:
  • Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS 640 MB
  • HD Support
  • AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 5600+ Socket AM2 Processor 2.8 GHz
  • And a liquid cooling machine...

On my computer, I would probably only be able to have some of the options set to shadows simple... textures high... reflections off... etc. But on the Vista, I can have all options set to the maximum and play it at a fast speed with barely any lag.

So overall, it's an excellent gaming computer (not the top best though), but it will cost around $1600 :skull:!!!

I played the game on a Vista computer with specs close to what your new one will be. The game ran ok but lag was still an issue and I wasn't able to run it in full screen at the higher resolutions without losing major fps.

Athlon 64x2 Dual Core Processor 4400+ 2.30 Ghz
NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 with 256 MB dedicated onboard memory and another 495 MB shared from the 2 Gigs of system memory

Your new processor and graphics card have better specs so you may get better performance than I do.

All in all the game play was just fine with Vista....have fun with the new machine.

Ah, I'm glad to hear, because the website says the computer must be a 2000 or XP. Also glad to hear that we share similar specs, but anyway, you may be suffering more lag because you are using the GeForce 6 series, but I will be using a Direct X10 compatibale card. So now the real problem is... wil POTC Online work with a Direct X10 card?

DX10 shouldn't be an issue as it is the only version that comes with a Windows Vista machine. Mine was purchased with Vista already installed so everything was pre-set to meet Vista specifications/requirements and has DX10 installed.

Thanks yet again. But, if I can just ask another question, does having a proccessor like the AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core mean the Vista will come in the 64 MB edition rather than the 32 MB edition? I've been told rumors that more programs run in 32 MB, but the speed is significantly increased with a 64 MB computer. The reason is because, me and my dad are getting the computer from his friend at work that sells computers that he makes. When I've recently been emailed the specs sheet, I didn't have time to look at every single aspect of my upcoming computer.

Mine is the 32. The version of Vista that is installed will determine which your new comp will be running as several versions of Vista are available in both except for the Vista basic which is only offered in 32. It will all depend on what your dad's friend installs not what processor you have.

Well me and my dad can ask his friend to change minimal stuff. And besides, I think what I'm getting is a Vista Premium. I probably will get it in 32 I guess.

EDIT: The new POTCO site finally includes the Vista as an OS in there minimal specs. They also say a 32 MB card is good, but the 64 MB card is recommended.
