Captain's Quarters or Guildhall?

Hello, there has been alot of hub bub going around about guildhalls and captains quarters. Well, what i want to know is if you had to choose one, which would you choose. Whether its that it seems more logical, that it would be more useful or just plain cooler. Whatever the case, i want to hear from you. I personally prefer the Captain's quarters because, IMO, if its on ur ship, it would be very helpful, assuming you can store ammo and gold aboard. Thats just what I think. How about you guys?

P.S. - explain why you prefer it in a post. ;P thx.

I believe a Captains Quarters would be a much better improvement over the game, as this would apply to all pirates, and not just to those in guilds that could establish a guild hall. A place for pirates to stash their own personal items, and to decorate in a fashion that suits their personalities.

Nothing wrong with the Guild Hall idea, its just not nearly as useful, or applicable as the Captains Quarters idea (IMO).

Think I would prefer a Guild Hall.

A GH is someplace that I could go at anytime and see, meet with, my guildmates. A Captains quarters would be a personal space for just me alone.

The GH could function as a bank, similar to some of the discussions about a CQ.

The GH would be an ideal place for parties and celebrations after major accomplishments. CQ would get lonesome.

GH could be opened to certain friends and non-guild players. Again, CQ would be lonely.

GH allows ALL of the guild to participate in decorations, outfitting, etc.

I already have a sea chest that stores all my posessions, what does the CQ add to that?

captains quarters no doubt i would love to get away from the sight of a juggernaut firing on my war frigate and just enjoy relaxing in the quarters while my crew dies yup good sailing! :buds:

One should be able to invite his friends, etc to his/her quarters/home, never a need to be "alone".
(in Toontown you can do this easily)

Also being a player of a few MMORG games there are usually individual homes/places for players to idle/store items that exceed the carrying capacity/limitations of the character.

And, honestly, I often WANT to be alone in the game, and dont want to argue with anyone over what the room should look like. I can see it now I spend 500 gold for a nice picture on the wall, and a guild mate replaces it with their 25 gold mosaic or something. ;)
Keep in mind my perspective, guild to me is just a bunch of friends, I prefer to play the game alone, or with only one or two friends at a time. I like other 'people' being in the game affecting it, but im not really into the guild games, etc.

after reading your post Zep, I changed my mind about guild halls. You make valid points, and very important to my gaming preferences. I would prefer the Quarters.

Guildhall would be good for group dynamics, but most players want personalization. Actually, the pirate hideout variation I think someone mentioned might be good, too.

A ramshackle building for the guild to gather, but then each mate would have their 'room' to customize for their quarters.

I wouldn't mind both.. But I chose Captain's Quarters... But then I just realized when I think Captain Quarters.. Im thinking for guilds as well. It was in a thread awhile back where The guild halls would actually be guild ships. That's what I was thinking along the lines of LOL. But Id really like to see both....

I voted for guild hall as I see it as a more pressing need. There is a need for a place that guilds can meet without party crashers. Trying to conduct guild business with some interloper running around and spamming chat is a pain.

Not that Capt quarters isn't a good idea, just think that guild halls should take priority.

EDIT: After reading Maximus's post I 'll add that I would like this to happen AFTER new content is added. I kinda assumed that this was a given when discussing these kind of things. :D

Maximvs 06-29-2009 11:55 PM

I could care less gets my vote....

Halls, Captains Quarters - none of this adds real value to the game (its like re-doing towns... which didn't need to be redone).

Sure, a place to meet is fine - but a guild can meet almost anywhere as long as they agree to the spot... and you'll never see too many in one spot due to the extreme lag you get when 20 or more are in one location anyway...

Real content should be the focus - not these 'gathering spots' only to talk about how theres nothing new in the game. :)

So true, they managed it without a problem in ToonTown and Wizard 101 has an awesome set up for houses too, seems it would be fairly easy to implement on Pirates, guild hall might be a bit harder and take longer... sigh

Okay, Maximvs, that post seemed alittle pessimistic (if i spelled that right lol). First of all, they don't have to be just another "gathering place". They could add all new features in the game including trading, more customization.......as well as more to talk about.

Why couldn't these features add content?? It could introduce a whole new side of the game to go with our well known and loved quests. Quests for furniture, quests for paints, quest for decorations.

No offense, but why everytime anyone posts in the Ideas/Suggestions section, someone has to be a downer saying, "It wouldn't add content/value", im sure the section is just for people to post their thoughts, not get shot down by strong vocabulary'd (LOL) game critics.

Ummm - cause it was an option on the poll? :D I wasn't being a 'downer' - just answering my Poll Selection :)

If you want to take away that answer - then you have to go with Halls because Ships have crew limits - and halls could hold large guild numbers. :) (Unless were gonna start putting in Cruise Ships... LOL :D Then I want them the have a Pool Deck, a Mess Deck, a Games Deck... ;) )

Eliza Creststeel 06-30-2009 02:06 PM

Max,

I agree - but part of what makes some games enjoyable is being able to be creative. Build your character, your own space, a group to interact with.

sandman 06-30-2009 03:40 PM

good idea maximvs and the captin of the ship takesa cut of all goldspint on the cruise
