Test Release Notes - June 15, 2009

For all those that hide out here in the test forum, *cough*skip ;-)*coughcough*, I'm going to start posting test release notes here too.

Release Notes - June 15, 2009
  • Avatars that were created and/or shared across accounts prior to the removal of linked accounts are now fully under the control of the owner of their current accounts. This means any avatar you see on your avatar chooser screen is available for playing and deleting, regardless of who created the avatar and any previous settings relating to their shared or locked status.
  • Bad language of any kind is never acceptable in Pirates Online. We have added a feature that will detect if players use bad language and will automatically suspend your account if you continue to attempt using foul language. Learn about Auto-Ban.

Please report any issues you encounter using this feedback form.

From the Grog Blog:

Quote:

It works like this: If you use foul language in chat, you get a warning. If you insist on using bad language, you get one more warning. After that -- your account will be automatically banned from the Caribbean. The length of time you are removed from the game depends on your account history. If you've had previous violations, you could be banned from the game permanently!

TY Jack, you are excused from lime squeezing duties for the evening.

Skip ;)

Thanks for doing that Jack, me and a few others on TTC have always posted the notes from Toontown Test in the test area of TTC, so it would make sense to also do that here on POF for POTC.

Well i've seen evidence of others testing the new "profanity" filter on the test servers, and saw no signs of any bad language system having been implemented.
Flat out inappropriate words went seemingly undetected (although red) upon being entered into the chat system. No warnings were displayed/noted upon usage of the words.

Also, the one extra pirate I have on my test account which was created through a linked account still cannot be deleted.

Keeping that information in mind, I would say that this "update" on test is rather worthless! None of the things they indicate were put in place.. work!

Wonder if they haven't put in "warning messages" and the red words are the only warnings you get? Cause that will be REALLY difficult to manage (even typing a number could be a hassle...)

I certainly hope not. That would not at all make sense.
Typos, mispellings, etc are not grounds for suspending accounts.

Red words are words not in their dictionary, might as well remove open chat if we have to say whats in their dictionary.

Might take time...like a day. They might send the e-mail the morning of the ban.

Then this is not an improvement on the system, as this is what has ALWAYS been in place.

The release notes indicate you will see immediate warnings, and that you will be automatically suspended... even had a link/notes about "Auto-Ban".

Oh like in that penguine game, i saw a video on u tube of someone saying a bad word in that game and a box came up saying they were auto banned by the system

An immediate warning comes up now.

See here: http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...7&postcount=51

I didn't seen the warning come up with typos, but haven't tried it with personal info yet. I may try various spellings of yahoo, YIM, email, ect later today. We shall see.
