My Little Daggy!
I thoroughly enjoy the dagger, but I'm afraid it doesn't live up to its potential. =( It could be such a greater weapon (-er because its great already). I always hear people say how much they hate it, but I love it! It really is a fun weapon. I think, with the new build coming out, they really should bring out some more high damage throwing knives and "cursed" knives.
For instance: Higher damage would be things like "Havoc Rain" (A shower of knives falling after throwing one large knife. The outcome would be an AoE massive damage hitting all enemies in the vacinity, with the possibility to stun them). Also, something like Switch-Blade. (A throwing knife that does serious damage if struck from the back, has the chance to knock and enemy off his feet. Blend (Come on, this should have been implemented from the start. It is basically invisibility. You're unseeable until you get within a certain line of site to an enemy. If you are behind them you are more undetectable.) Cursed Blade (This would be the highest level skill, and will require a small amount of voodoo. It curses an enemy to take more damage from other attacks as well as stays in their bodies to do serious DoT damage. The original attack wouldn't be so strong, but the DoT would be MASSIVE)!!! :laughks2::pirate6: |
Good ideas Mac. I really like the Havoc Rain.

How can anyone hate the dagger!?!
It's the only Melee & Ranged weapon in the game! Every other weapon is one or the other. You can toss'em, but then hack and slash when baddies get too close! And what's more fun than taking out a whole flock of weaklings with a single brace of Viper's Nest? Too cool to watch Ms. Eliza jump up, pirouette and unleash an armload of them at her opposition - and they all fall down dead as she gracefully lands on her feet. - PS - Here's an enhancement on your cursed blade idea. How about a dagger or dart that lets you Attune a baddie from far away? You throw it and it sticks to them, then your Doll works without Attunement? The blend thing would be like a 'Concealed Weapon', where you could get close to an enemy without them seeing your knife. |
ooh yah, eliza i like the fix to the cursed blade. i'm just alittle confused. do you mean the enemy can't see your weapon, so they won't attack?

Great ideas! Along with my cutlass the dagger is my favorite weapon.
The Switch-Blade idea is great. I would love to be able to knock an enemy down like that :) |
Well, im no fan of the dagger. And updates not long ago actually made the dagger weaker in attack, so I dont think they are looking to make it more powerful as it is. The fact that it can be used as both a range, and melee weapon is already an advantage it has over others.
Enemies in potco generally attack based on vacinity, so sneaking up, or having a concealed weapon doesnt seem like it would bear any significant purpose in the game. All of the weapons (except pistol) already have the means of attacking more than one enemy at a time, some do not. The dagger already has one so I dont think it needs another one. As your pirate progresses you will have literally no enemy you cannot defeat with any of the individual weapons, I dont think there is a need to make them more powerful. At least until there are enemies that require it. Just my two cents. Good ideas mind you, but these are just things that would be 'cool' to have, and wouldnt have any major usefulness in the game (would make it even easier than it already is.. too easy at that). |
Well, maybe instead of the simple i hit you or get close and you attack, they could turn it into a further-spread tripline. Just like other games, they could set enemies in mobs and make it so they are more spread out. This might even increase the difficulty seeing as you'd have to fight more than one at once.

I had the invisibility idea as a Leadership-esque skill for the dagger, to help with the Backstab damage. The idea of a throwing knive that does more damage striking one in the back is a good one. The Cursed Blade thing is kind of iffy, kind of acceptable.
