Where Should I Be?
 

Hey, I returned from a LONG break from POTCO, and I'm worried that my weapons are way way off. Where should my weapon levels be?

Notoriety level 18: Cannons 6-7 (forgot), Sailing 8, Cutlass 7, Pistol 8, Dagger 6, Doll 7. Haven't learned Grenade or Staff yet.

Also, where SHOULD I be? I know I'm below average, for sure.

Actually - they are just about perfect :) They are all almost even level - which is what you want to try and keep them at (not letting any one weapon "run ahead" of the others).

The exception is gernades - cause levelling them is such a pain (in IMO) that levelling them to max as soon as you get them (and staff somewhat cause it will be behind when you get it you can some time catching it up at Kingshead).

Aye, they are very good, nice and generally even. But Maximvs, i usually even out all weapons to 6-8, than master my sword because of sticky situations that could appear. It , IMO, is great to have your doll or sword mastered as well as your nades once you get them, long before the others.

They're fine. As for training grenades, you should grab a friend who needs grenade points, or can heal you, and just use them on the 6 veterans in the Kingshead Courtyard. I got my grenades up to level 15 easy there, as well as 20K gold.

Your in fine shape matey, I dont think your 'behind' at all.

There will definately be varied opinions on this as every pirate has their own way of dealing with certain aspects of the game. Preferred weapons, etc will make a difference. Me personally I like Max try to keep my weapons even. Sailing tends to level quicker because of the frequent need for sinking ships in the quests, and if I am not playing solo, the cannons go up along with the sailing. I dont really count those in with the other weapons though. I do try to max grenades as soon as I get them, because they IMO are a PAIN (not hard, just a pain, and not fun) to master, and I just want to get them over with. Staff is easily leveled at the start on the mob on the field at Kingshead so it catchs up with the rest easier.

Once I hit levels 15-20 with my weapons, my 'preferences' tend to start taking precedence depending on my goals which I set for myself as I go along. Be sure and have fun along the way!!!

If I was to master the Sword - I'd still wait until I had gerds first and mastered (you'd have them mastered in the upper mid-20's - and plenty of time to master the sword before getting into too much big trouble ;) )

I mastered the sword early on pirate #1 - and paid for that with gerds and other weapons later (nothing worse being L30 and having to go kill tiny enemies to catch up your L6 Dagger - bah ;) )
