How do I make my ship public?

Other people do, How can I?

Chris 06-05-2009 02:18 PM

When you are out sailing, right above your ships health bar is a little circle with a Dinghy in it click that and it will bring up a box with 4 squares you can select who can board your ship here. For public put a check mark in the box next to "Public" then hit Ok.

Thanks for asking Noogah & for answering Chris! I was wondering the same thing :)

me too! I had no idea what so ever!
I noticed the dingy, but not brave enough to click it and find out what it did. :D

Something I never noticed either is the Crate symbol. If you click it will give a manifest of your current plunder, by telling you how many Royals, Chest and Crates your hold currently has.

Very nice feature to know how much booty to expect.

Aye, and if you make a crew, you may want to get into the habit of clicking on the circle with the looking glass, or your crew is public (defaults to public).

Too Bad that Pirates is too lazy to add a drop Cargo Feature...

I have some questions based on this. I have been experiencing pirates on my ship firing at random EITC and Navy ships outside of what I had called. How do you remove pirates from a ship?

Also what is the best way to see who is on your ship? I have tried clicking on the crew status icon to see if a pirate list shows up?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I would guess the reason that they don't add this is due to the fact that this would defeat the purpose of having the random chance of getting something good. Personally, and this is just my opinion, having something like this would be the equivalent of having a pop-up when you kill an enemy asking you to select how much gold you will receive.

Currently you can only remove pirates from your ship when Privateering, via an option in the user card. If you don't like people randomly firing on everything in site, probably best to crew up with people before you set sail and not open your ship to the public.

The best way I can see is to crew everyone on board. Unlike with cargo, there is no magic button to show who is on board unfortunately, so if you don't have someone in your crew you would have to stop sailing and find them to see who it is.

First, there is unfortunately no easy way to see what pirates are on your ship, other than doing your own roll call on deck (ie looking around).

There is a not a way to remove any person from your ship either unfortunately.
(I guess you can in SvS) We asked for it, but never to my knowledge have they added it. They have instead given us control over who can board the ship. Works great as long as your not open to public. Once open to public, you will have the problems you noted. Might be best to get the crewmates ye want staying open awhile, and as soon as your satisfied, crew the mates ye wish to keep, port, than launch with crew only boarding settings.

If ye open yer ship to public, you are destined to encounter those situations, unfortunately without recourse.

I thought that may be the case. Thanks for the advice.

The Other way to find members is to angle the camera. Unfortunatly I cant shift it back afterwards.

Using the mouse, I hold my right button down, and I can look in 360 degrees around the ship. Using the scroll wheel, I can zoom in and out.
Standard features, I didnt program them! ;)

This can be used to see whos on the ship, helps in crewing them, etc.
Just dont do it during battle!

Dog Darkbane 08-19-2009 12:35 AM

Let me try that. I have not been using a mouse much that may speed things up.

Thanks
