Why can't we repair all the time??
I understand why repair and salvage was added to the PvP elements of the game and I'm not asking for salvage bonuses.
But, why not let us repair at sea? Or MAKE IT A SKILL!! After all, if you have a full crew out plundering, getting blind-sided by a couple of explosive rounds from a Juggy suddenly cuts the trip short. Let us repair, DISNEY! Is the shipwrights union that strong? "Oy, mate!! Local Wrights 132, you got permits to be fixin' that sloop outside of a reg-u-lated UNION repair facility? No? Then, you got a problem, mate!" |
That would make sailing somewhat easier... I still think it woud be cool if they added different tasks on a ship... Like lookout, repairs, etc. You know.. Fun little thigns to do if you don't necessarily feel like sinking ships.. Or if your one of the crewmates who couldn't get a cannon on the side that is shooting...

I also don't quite understand because when your do get to repair, it's half pointless anyways because if you sink, you get to pop right up again in the water. With plundering, you have to sail from port again

Yeah, you think the EITC Black Guard is trouble, wait until you rile up the Local Wrights 132!! |
I would like repair at sea capabilities also. I think it's a waste in SvS since you do pop right back up if you sink. Properly implemented, it could be very useful in normal sailing.
Also, one other thing I would really like to see: The ability to jettison or offload cargo without having to land in port. Since they lifted the 'one hour' sailing limitation, why not give us the ability to either offload cargo, or jettison up to half of the cargo on board. Let me toss the Cargo Crates overbaord, so that I can pick up more royals without having to go to shore. And it's not just the shipwrights, it's the entire ship building industry! Those guys who make the tar and pitch, they get downright nasty about selling to unauthorized retailers! And don't even ask to buy decent pieces of timber!!! The stuff they sell to the public is nothing but knots and warped boards. |

Who do you think came up with tar and feathering? Sure wasn't the poultry industry... |
As for cargo, it wouldn't be 'fair' to allow us to pick and choose what to keep. That be cherry pickin' and a pirate/beggar can't be a chooser.
But, how about this - show us what containers are ACTUALLY in the HOLD! I can't remember if the fifth ship I sunk gave me a treasure chest or crate. Most of us do the 'how many royals we get' tally in our heads. I DON'T HAVE to know the contents, just the type. "Look mack, you want this frigate shipshape by sun-up, I gotta' bring in three more guys and those guys will be doing double-overtime. Capec'?" |
If you click on the little treasure counter on your ship HUD it will show you what type and how many of each you've plundered.

lol,
But it would be cool for when the level cap was raised, Like the level 25 sailing skill would be like, Salvage 5% of the enemys health, or something like that. |
Talking about repairing..... why can't i I repair my own boat in a svs?
|
OH Good grief!! Again, Sarah to the rescue!! Thank you, lass. Why doesn't someone tell Eliza these things?!?
|
Your not alone Eliza, I just realized that was there the other night and I have been playing for over a year. Maybe I should have read the manual. :)

There's a manual???? *Looks around. Must have thrown it out with the box.*

I'd like to be able to repair all the time at sea. I think there should be a catch, though.
If we do repair our ships at sea, we should have to buy the wood needed to repair it. P.S. I think damage on ships should be upgraded. Cannons should be thrown off or blown away if it gets too much damage so players can't use them when they fall into the sea. There's a lot of things they could do with ships. Too bad it will probably never happen. |
