Our pirates- deleted when PotCO opens?

Do you guys think that our pirates will be deleted when Pirates Online officially opens
to the public?

I think it would only be fair if they were deleted. That way everyone is on the same
level when PotCO is released, and nobody has an unfair advantage.

Yes, we might have spent all our time on our pirates. But at least we can learn from
our mistakes, and make our new ones ten times better than they are right now.

If we're all deleted, what was our reward for having helped work through all the bugs, glitches and crashes? Just for the thrill of it? I say let them live!:degen:

I can pretty much guarentee they will delete them. They don't want a lvl 20+ person in a ship shooting down newbies. :00001927:

Hahaha true.

Our reward is no lag, no bugs, and no crashes, CaptnKidd.

I'm hoping we get to keep our characters. But if not, at least we can level up and complete quests much faster than the newbies ever wil.
But in all fairness, we should get a little something for helping test this game.:12_1_138:

CaptnKidd 07-03-2007 04:10 PM

Aye - Atleast let us keep our characters!! I see your point about lvl 20 vs. newbies. Some of us have really put some thought into our Cahracters, I would hate to see them just disapear! So maybe that would be our reward :12_1_138:

As far as a game free of bugs, glitches and crashes - THAT's what I'd expect! - especially on a pay site - free sites are another story:jacksparrowvswillzu

Maybe 3 month free access to the pay site as a reward if the characters get deleted? - what do you think? :pirate41:

That seems cool.

But I would rather get a limited edition non-tradeable badge or something. That way
people would know I was here from the start.

berryu 07-03-2007 05:21 PM

Aye! 3 months of free playing and they can take all our characters!

Not that i mind, my guys still lvl 6, lol:laughks2:

It's very common in MMO betas that they "wipe" the characters before it goes public. They may even have to wipe them sometime during beta testing, so don't get too attached to them. They could be gone tomorrow!

For all you people saying "what's my reward for testing?", sorry but the testing IS the reward. You are getting to check out a game before everyone else does -- that's all. Don't expect anything further.

Peggo 07-03-2007 08:45 PM

Aye, but as seasoned mates we will be the unoffical Community Leaders of the game. We can tell newbies how to play and give hints. We can, but we don't have to.
I still think testers deserve a treat. We have suffered through all the glitches and lagging and we help them refine the game. Why can't the few of us (how many beta testers are there anyway?) get a year of bug free play. I don't see why we can't have some high level pirates in the game when it goes public. As long as they don't take adfvantage of the newbies...why not?:jacksparrowvswillzu

Keep in mind, they're probably going to invite more and more beta testers as they get closer to finishing it. They'll probably also have a completely "open beta" period where anyone/everyone is allowed to download and test it for free. In which case, it probalby wouldn't be realistic to give ALL beta testers a reward.

Right.
No, just us. LOL

They gave out 10,000 beta keys. War pirate ships are already ramming light pirate
ships, so yeah, taking advantage of the newbies.

I mean, I almost was sunk today, because someone with a frigate was "bored", so
to cure his boredness he decided to try and sink my ship. Took in my little light sloop
just in time.

So yeah, if people are taking advantage now, wait until the game opens.

That is if it EVER opens to the public. Coming out Spring 2007? It's already summer guys. =/

Aye, I've heard of this un-piratey behavior. Is there no Pirates Code? Actually the fault is with the game. They should not be able to ram newbies when not in PVP mode. Has someone reported this glitch?::pirate61:
