PotCO Lag

Do you get lots of lag in PotCO? I do. Come on - Jack Sparrow never gets lag while sailing on the Black Pearl unless the DVD is scratched...

Hee Hee, if the DVDs scratched, Good One :)

Lol you're busy on here tonight, :D, then again so am I at moment, this must be what lack of online play does to one.

Well theres plenty of threads about lag, further down the list, but yes when I was last playing, there was still lots of lag.

I think a lot has to do with small cost effective server they are running beta test on TBH.

Yes I am busy on here today :)

I usually run about 10 fps, sometimes 5. I think when the game opens they'll buy a bigger and better version of the server they currently have to support the thousands of people that will be online. Hopefully they'll have 10+ worlds too, so the open seas won't be too crowded.

I usually only get around 5.0 to 12.0 fps. There are those shining moments where they go above that, but not much.

During poker though, I am around 15.0 fps.

SirPenguin,
THat is about my fps. I heard back on a bug I reported and the e-mail from the devs said my video card is not quite up to snuff...so wouldn't the fps be an issue from not havivng a great video card rather than beta lag?

Just wondering as this is the first MMo game I've ever played. A co-worker of mine (who is a HUGE gamer) says that many gamers won't play if they are getting under 30 fps. But again, I don't know if this is because POTC is beta or my low level video card.

How do you update your video card?

Automated response from Disney Online Devs is always to check and update graphics, sound and directx, this is ok advice as some of us probs havent checked in a while. However if your an avid 3D gamer, you will know your up to date, this stands to reason.

To check your cards and update your cards.

You look up your video card manufacturers web site, put in your cards details and follow dowload instructions. Usually ATI Radeon or Nvidia Geforce, unless you have onboard, then u need to check whats on board.

There are programs that can check your system to check your current status, but be aware, some may just want you to update from their sponsered sites to get updates you may not need.

Look for progs that you can confirm as recommended from real peeps comments or proper reviews.

One other way is to run - dxdiag, this will tell you detailed info of current card and drivers, including a date of installed drivers, check this date against latest offered drivfers on your manufacturers site, to see if you have same drivers.

Okay. Is there any other way to make the game go faster?

Red Bull 07-01-2007 01:48 PM

Go to Disney Online HQ and plug directly into server lan :D.

I highly doubt updating your video card will help much. Yes it will help but not the the extent that you hope.

I have a video card which isnt too super duper but it runs every other game perfectly fine.

I play LOTRO which has 100x better graphics and it works well even in congested areas, so the fact that this game can't give good FPS is a problem with the engine/models either having to many edges or not being developed correctly.

It is something that Disney needs to work on.

FPS should not be determined by server lag, you should be able to get perfect FPS even if your on a slow connection.

I did some stuff to my computer like deleting temporary files and the internet runs faster, so when I log on PotCO hopefully it will go faster. Today I was getting 15 fps... not bad.
