Simalarities
Have you ever noticed the governer's garden on port royal looksexatcly like the tortuga graveyard except with diffrent eneimes i mean they have the same layout plan. And murky hollow and the theives's den they look alike too.
|
I have not spent much time there recently...hmmm.....I'll check it out
|
yes
So does El Suderon and Cutthroat jungle. Perdida jungle and kings run are similar also. It takes a lot of programming to "flesh out" a build so the programmers took a few short cuts. It saves on testing time and I'm sure no one really minds if an area looks familiar as long as the enemies are a bit different.
|
Islands like Isla Congrejos and Driftwood have similar layouts as well. Its understandable with the scope of the game to do that while providing different types of enemies.
|
I immediately noticed El Sudoron was similar to Cutthroat Jungle the first time I entered, which was just recently. I don't go into The Governor's Garden much, but yeah, now that you mention it.
It's kinda lame, but it's acceptable. |
Yea but i would enjoy i diffrent layout plan but i guess the new enemies make it ok

Try this next time..
Try this next time you are playing.
Look at the faces of the navy and Eitc enemies. Compare them and see how many you think there really are. I bet you don't find that much difference between them. The potential difference is limited by the choices the game gives you and compound that with a bit of laziness and you get a lot of similar, if not the same, faces over and over again. I don't fault anyone for this. It's not easy making all this stuff up so who can blame a programmer for taking a short cut here and there. |
maybe they just didnt have the money at the time

I have noticed it as well. They just did not want to spend the time to create unique locations. In all honesty it does not take that long to do what they have done. They make 3-4 models, then copy and paste them... Maybe change a color here or there. I have mentioned in another post how limited the new island updates really are. They just made a few new things, then copy and pasted the old stuff right back into it. I am glad to see I am not the only person who has noticed this stuff lol... I would about say there was a team of designers hired when the game was first made, then they were moved to another project or let go. Now the designers on staff are just working with what is on hand, and editing it instead of making new things from scratch. I know from experience how this goes, I have had to edit models other people have made, and it is always hard to work with other peoples work. Every person does things differently, I would say 75% of the time I end up starting from scratch and doing things again my way so I can work with it better in the future.... but if I am just throwing some thing together I will just fudge things and use their previous work. I think this is why there are so many wall glitches in the game, they neglected to close off lines, and properly join objects.

They definately reused room 'maps' in the game, placing different objects, and enemies about to change their overall appearance.
As mentioned they similarly reused a set of characteristics for enemies, so although they vary, there are not that many variances. I doubt loss of developers/artists, money, or taking shortcuts had anything to do with it. More likely done to make the game more efficient. Similarly to how they reduced the number of polygons in our avatars to optimize frame rates. Its not unusual for games across the board to reuse textures to optimize memory usage either (such as faces, etc). Fewer textures/models/maps to load the better the game runs, faster it downloads, etc. |
It's not your imagination...
Misty Mire - Pantano River Governor's Garden - Tortuga Graveyard Wicked Thicket - Wildwoods Queen's Nest - King's Run Cutthroat Jungle - El Sudoron Perhaps, now that majors islands have been made over - some of these areas will get some unique touches in the future. Might interesting the garden actually had some garden areas or better old, abandoned garden areas since the skeletons showed up. Tortuga's Graveyard ought to have more makeshift graves and markers, after all the ones buried there are likely all lowly pirates anyway. And so on... |
Yes i have noticed those the El Sudoron - cutthroat and the Governors garden - tortuga graveyard similarities also.
|
Hmm.. I never really gave much thought to the matter. Good observations!:dancetl6: Shows how observant this pirate is :mybadki6: Unless rum is involved i don't usually notice hehe:buds::piratetongueor4:.... :D

I noticed another one the tormenta cave and the theives den.
