March 26th Update (and Issues)

I don't want to clutter up that other thread with more non-PDF related stuff, so here goes:

PDF Changes
See other thread? LoL

Compass Changes
Compass rotates with the camera again.
- Issue: arrow points down for forward on several islands. Not ["main"] PR or Tuga (thus far), but everywhere else I've tried (PDF, Cuba, SvS islands, Kingshead, Cangrejos, Fort Charles).

SvS Changes
Ships on radar are now striped with their island's colors.

Notoriety Ring/Weapon, etc Bar Changes
Eight sections on Notoriety, Six on Weapons/Sailing
(sort of nice for OCD people like myself...I guess)

There are some very flat sand crabs on Cangrejos (actually, crabs in general; they all look sort of squished to me).

Non-normal human enemies, after being defeated, turn into yellow ghosty looking things, on low settings.

Enemy Behavior, Etc. Changes
In Misty Mire, enemies still spawn when triggered, but no longer automatically attack (which I think, having had a baby or two murdered by that Giant Crab, is nice ;)).
Also, it looks like respawned enemies now go back to their original position/action/whatever, rather than respawning in their default "ready for action" pose.

Some missing textures have been fixed in Fort Charles, and you can now see enemies below you if you're above them (on the tower, for example), but the twitchy wall is still there, the mini map is gone, and there's a weird patch of land/ocean to the south...

With the compass arrow direction problem, it seems to be okay (at least when I've tried) if you TP to someone. The existing TP bug is still there, though, where you can't see any dots on the radar.

Oh, and it does work at sea. Now you can (like before) actually aim the cannon at stuff and have it line up on the compass' radar deal. :)

"Properly".. seems to be subjective.
I dont like the way it works now!!! I felt it should stick to the orientation of the pirate, not the camera. By moving with the camera it is way confusing, and you lose track of how your pirate is oriented. Changing the camera view is designed to look around, not for navigation! (imo)

oh well.

Well, I said it worked right again because this is how it was before (though I do like this way much more, so it's "right" that way too LoL). Right now, of course, it's broken in most places with the whole "down is up" thing, but when they get the arrow working it should be better.

Personally, I like being able to see what I'm looking at (regardless of where my pirate's facing) as "up" on the radar; it's just more intuitive.

I agree with you on those aspects, Zep. This going to take getting used to again. Personally I do find that having the compass be in relation to the direction your pirate/ship is facing to be more intuitive, not following the camera. I changesthe camera view to see what's around me to verify what's on the compass not the other way around.

Well, I thought they had fixed it (to make it right) when they changed it a few months ago. Just because something is introduced one way doesn't make it the correct way. Apparently Disney's changed their mind and frankly I don't know what their intentions are anymore for the compass. I did send them feedback on it on my opinion of how the compass should work and suggested that a toggle between the 2 modes would be a great option for players.

Found a texture mishap with the alligators. New albino gators we have now! They actually look whiter than this screenshot shows.

I'm all for options. :)

Also, I agree that D can change how they do things and we don't really know what's "correct", per se. But I will say that I've only ever seen this type of HUD in other games (not many, admittedly, I'm not really a gamer...but several, at least LoL), so it can't be bad, right?

The textures on the fort entrance on Padre (Test) was completely distorted.....report....report.....report......

I haven't bothered to log in, sounds like just more glitches added to the game, and characters with nothing new to work on.

Any reason to change my graphics around again, to see anything?

This actually is the best option for all players... because there are two ways people drive their ships for attack, and we could all have the choice :)

As mentioned I'm a big fan of the 1st way, simply because I drive the boat "side on" to see the broadsides on the target and the "radar compass" for my orientation of direction.

Those who drive "head on" find the ships give them their proper orientation and the compass for shooting.

Both options should be included :D

I actually sail both ways and prefer the the non-rotating on camera change option (the way it current is). I just can orient my mind to follow the compass and the visuals without getting confused easily.

LoL But I don't want to have to think! :D

I did sort of the same thing, actually, but this way is a lot easier for me.

Oh, another change - Lightning no longer flashes on low settings.

ETA:

Interesting bug I just got: Launched from PDF, but ended up "swimming" in limbo, but could hear all the high seas noises, including what sounded like my ship getting shot. I TP'd back to PDF, but ended up under it, and could still hear the water. I couldn't go through walls (any boundaries; had to say in the normal spots).

Found a door to a tattoo shop and entered it. Started out standing normally, but could still hear water. When I walked, I was on the staircase - walked backwards and went down into the floor, and forwards and ended up above the shop. TP'd to Tuga (loading screen had the new PDF picture, but said Tortuga), and same deal - I'm under the island. Entered another shop, and same deal.

Guess I'll have to relog to fix it, but in the meantime...this is fun. LoL

Pics coming...

ETA Again:
TP'd to an SvS island and it fixed it, sort of. Was able to TP back to PDF, and actually be on the island, but the loading screen showed the SvS island pic and said PDF, and when I launched my ship again I'm back in limbo. Hm...

Not sure when this happened as I was not on yesterday, but the bosses are back on Padres, the compass appears to be "fixed" (at least, my definition of it LoL), and some enemy behaviors have been changed back (like enemies in the Misty Mire will auto-attack again if triggered).

combatlizzy 04-03-2009 05:21 PM

The board-launch Limbo glitch was still on Tuga as of yesterday. It doesn't happen eveyrtime you attempt to launch, but has happened to me pirate at least 4 times in maybe 8 boarding attempts. I've reported this a few times...
The 2 big gators in Cuba swamp at least attack, now. The first time I approached to kill them, they just sat there like logs and let me kill them...great for completing me quest...lol
