non-interactional player games just arent the same anymore

I got my play station 2 out of the closet and started to play a basketball game. As I played I felt so out of place. It got lonely real fast and I put the play station back in the closet. I might even sell it, lol

Anyone else feel like when u play a game like that, and there's noone to communicate with who's playing with u(within the game, not like having buddies over and several controllers) it just feels weird. Did to me

I'll occasionally play a game or two on my PSP....but as you stated minus the human interaction it is simply not the same. You build online friendships with people and the diverse personalities is part of what makes it so interesting. If POTC Online was not a muliti-player game, I would have sold my War Frigate and turned in my Cutlass last year. It's almost like a second family.....we talk to each other almost everyday, laugh, get into disputes, and share stories. I think I spend more time on POF than on POTC Online. You guys/gals all rock!

well my xbox 360 has xbox live so i can interact but i my membership for it expired so yah i guess you can say that. But it depends on what kind of game it is. If its with ai ( artificial intelligance or refered to computers) such as comabt games, it could get lonely or possibly akward. If it foucuses less on a npc (non player character) you could possibly lose your self within the game such as guitar hero. It also could depend on the story plot and you interests. For example i like skateboarding games and ill probably spend 2-3 hours on skate 2 when i get it on my birthday. Lack of online friendship is kinda lonely. Friends could help you with quests or missions and make the game more enjoyable. OFF TOPIC: That post was kinda long.....:piratear::mat:

I agree. Playing games without people to talk to is just WEIRD now. :)

Computer Friends

Lets not forget that computer friends are not the same as real life friends.
For those kids out there reading this get off your computer and go outside
and play. Make some real life friends and have some real adventures. This
computer stuff is fine to past the time when you can't get outside but its no
substitute for real interaction and exercise out in the fresh air. As for the rest of
us too old or too tired to do what I just said then I guess this is better then
not talking to anyone all day. I do prefer games that don't require other players
to play. They are more challenging.

There has been many of times when I play the gamecube, and I feel really bored and lonely... It's more fun playing Supersmash Bro's when you have like 3 other people with you. And now, Im the only one in the house, so theres hardly anyone to play with... =(

Agreed, It is always kinda lonley without playing with someone
Now pretty much all the games I play have Online (POTCO for one) Then my Xbox (Which has live)

Well, i've always made it a point to never own a console system. Always figured my computer did a good enough job when I wanted to play. Having played online games for over 17 years however I do know the value of a real life friend vs an online friend. I have to go with what Captain Greene said.

Dont pass up chances to spend time with, get adventurous and have fun with your real life friends. Online friends tend to come and go over time. Real life friends tend to stick with you.

Got in a motorcycle accident once a few years back, none of my online friends came to my rescue, my real life friends however came and helped me pick my bike up off the roadway, and got me to the hospital to be checked out.

Online friends are not a substitute for real life friends, this I know without a doubt.

As far as playing the games however, definately find more interactive games to be more fun than those that are not. But a individual brain buster type of game can be a bit O fun as well.

I think of yall here as my friends, even if I am a grumpy old drunken pirate mod. ;)

I agree with you there Zep, we should never substitute real friends with online friends. We should be out having adventures and living life:dancetl6::piratewheelgo2::degen:.. but I also agree that our Pirate friends be our mates all the same:buds:.. just in a different way :pirate91: But yes, don't miss out on all that life has to offer.. let yer inner pirate come through outside the game too:laughks2: LOL

MacIronhawk 03-24-2009 02:04 AM

Yes, I do.
But after playing the online mode for need for speed undercover for the PS3 I got out of that real fast. Having other people to play with made it much more fun.

I've noticed that I've started liking online games more than solo-games. It is much more fun to interact with real people and not NPCs.

Thats true. only communication i have with real friends is facebook and ******* cause we are all always so busy, its hard to make time for hanging out.

Well, I do enjoy playing games by myself. Games like Zelda or Resident Evil are supposed to be played by one player. To me, that is one of the reasons I truly enjoy console games. Fighting, racing, and sports games are another story, they get boring fast if there is nobody to challenge and talk smack. I guess that is one of the reasons why I have a hard time mixing up the playing and interacting with others while in POTCO. That bring something completely different up, what when you actually want to play alone, maybe vent by sinking ships and fighting EITCs.

What I'm getting up is this, there's pros and cons to both. I guess, that at least in my case, it has to be what mood are you in. At least gaming wise. To me games are my stress killer.
