Where to finish those pesky grenades?

On my little pirate, I have taken the advice of everyone here on the forums and leveled my grenades non-stop since I got them.

Big John is now notoriety 23 with grenades at level 22.

I've searched the forums for the grenade guide(s) but I can't seem to find any SPECIFIC advice on where to go from here. The Kingshead mob turned grey at grenade 22. I have tried the catacombs, but Big John still gets killed there wayy too easily, even with my big pirate healing him. I've also tried Padres Beach, but it just goes much too slow there.

Does anyone have any specific advice on where I should go to finish off grenades? I absolutely can't wait to master them at level 40 like I did on Jason.

Thanks. :)

I say get a dummy pirate or friend to heal you and use as tp totem and just hit em 2 or 3 at a time depending on how many you can handle.. you'll figure it out after a couple tries. That's how I finished mine off....

I worked 'nades at Tormenta until my pirate was big enough for PDF beach. Either use a friend to heal you or stock up on potions and get up on one of the buildings near General Darkheart (yeah, I know you can glitch, but hey....) and 'nade him til' he drops. You'll hit 100 points every time. If you bring a crew for healing, you'll get a crew bonus too and don't need to worry about 'nading him from a building.

Good luck.

After lvling a couple of pirates, I still think standing behind the fench on old pdf and hitting the raiders. The avg rep with smoke is 90 and goes much faster than nadiing dh. Too maximize the rep hit to the side of the raider not directly.

I think one person using Darkhart to level grenades exclusively is kind of a waste of time and grenades. So when I used him to level I'd either share him with another pirate, both leveling and each healing the other as needed, or If by myself, I'd switch weapons, for example, I'd hit him with 30 grenades (any combo of Stink bombs, fire and smoke), 30 rounds of steel shot for pistol, 3 or 4 rounds of all thrown dagger skills and if he was still alive I'd get some points on staff as well. That would usually get me 300 pts or more.

I agree with this method also. Easy way to get reps on multiple weapons. Throw daggers, shoot lead shot, cast flames from staff and throw nades and (despite the objections of a very few here) if I were you I would stand 7 steps back from the second rock in front of Darkheart and he will glitch and stop attacking you after 2-3 dagger throws. Agreed.... it just takes too many Gerds alone to make it worth 100 REP... you'd be better going to KH and hitting the Solider Formation Grounds.

For Dark - do the weapon rotation. All ranged weapons are good (dagger, pistol, gerds and staff) and for the really skilled, a few have managed to sneak in a brawl / taunt from the sword then do some curse / chains from the doll and your set for WAY more REP :D

Am I to correct to conclude that the general consensus here is that I should master nades quickly, but not necessarily while neglecting other weapons? Remember, Big John is 23, so he can't really hit Darkhart with anything except nades right now. ;)

This is two different approaches...

Dark is great for gerds if your planning to take all weapons up at once - the upside is that when your ready to take him on at appropriate weapon levels (say around 18 all around) then you get good REP - the bad is that gerds get harder to get good REP from when your Noriety (which would be around 32ish) runs fairly high - and you still have to get them to about L12-15 to start making a difference.

Dark is good for all other weapons leaving gerds out at 22 once your other weapons catch up to about 18 cause you just use smoke and they will still turn out good REP if you levelled then early in game (like I do as well - I take gerds to 22 as soon as I get them and usually finish at Noriety 25 - with my other weapons at L13ish), the downside is that you have to shop more as using anything but smoke will not only return lower REP on gerds... but also cut into your other weapons REP return as well.

Its a players call. In your case, your fate is already decided :) - don't bother with Dark and work on leveling all your other weapons equallly until 18-19... then go to Dark and with Gerds and other ranged weapons have a blast :) - unless all you want to do is gerds (cause your right - them weak weapons will just miss... and only gerds is a BIG waste of gold).

Thanks Max. I'll just level up my other weapons for a while and return to Darkhart with nades and other weps later. That'll be good- I'm sick of those buggers already. ;)

TIck Tock the clock is ticking...

For those players who counted on using General Darkhart on PDF back beach to level up some of their higher level weapons esp. nades be forewarned. Padres Del Fuego underwent a renovation on test server and up till now the General is MIA. After an exhaustive search I have not been able to find him or Timothy Darden. He may return later or he may be placed some where else but rest assured he is not on the test server's new Padres Back Beach... Better get cracking on those nades while you can...

I am almost to the lv20 Doll quest on Count DeMoney, so I will see if I can find where they stashed he General. I hope he is not gone for good.

Timothy Darten (with a T: I sorta named my pirate after him, to be seen in the next sentence) disappeared? That would only leave veterans who traversed the game to know of the root of my test pirate's name...

Regardless, I think the Kingshead training group is good all the way until the gray; then, getting some higher level troops in Kingshead should do, with a maxed attune (splitting damage between the attuned, hitting more targets at once et all--total winner) and maxed grave shackles set, it should be somewhat efficient at trapping and hitting them all.

You've probably been more efficient though, reaching 22 at 23--not sure I'm one to advise.

I have been messing with some different things leveling on a guest pass pirate I have been playing with, while taking a break from my account with my higher level pirates. If you put just one skill point in most attacks, it is easier to get rep. I like to train grenades at Outcast on the Stumps. You can stand beside one of the in game characters and buy healing for 5 gold every time you need it; then just toss grenades at the Stumps. You can usually gain rep very quickly this way. It is just the method I prefer to use. By the time you gain the higher level grenade sack, or box whatever it is called, you can spend a good while there. That is just the method I always liked to use. If you have a healer though, Tormenta's caves offer plenty of rep. but I generally end up leveling alone.
