Is there a catch to retraining a staff?

A while back, I made one mistake distributing my skill points. I was going to retrain the weapon but before I did I had an idea.

For a year I've read on this fourm that "Desolation" sucks and is just for showing off to noobs at Fort Charles. However, I've never heard of anyone putting 5 skill points in it and seeing what it does. My guess is that it still sucks, but I have several skill points to spare and therefore thought about trying it out for a couple of weeks and then retraining my staff to get rid of it.

Is it truly as simple as paying 250 gold and then getting to redistribute all your skill points? No catch? I still have not mastered this pirate and do not want to permanently screw anything up with my staff. Thanks!

Well there is always a catch.. if ye wanted to retrain them back... ye have to pay 2500 then i think 5000 then it stops at 10000 each time you do it (don't know if its in that order though) just be careful how many times ye retrain it......

But yes the initial fee is only 250...

No catch Chernabog. True, every time you train that weapon, it costs more to do it, but if you get it the way you want it the first time, then all's good. Re-train at will ;)

One of my characters has 5 points in Desolation....I can wipe out the entire army of soldiers on the Kings Head open field in one shot. However, do I use this often....no. If you were you use this in Tormenta you had better have a healer or switch to the Voodoo Doll to cast Life Drain.

To wipe out the Kingshead mob in one shot, I'd recommend max Siege Charge instead of max Desolation... doesn't hurt you too. ;) In response to Chern's question, reallocate reallocate reallocate!!! I can't even COUNT how many times I've reallocated my skills. I'm pretty sure I'm up to 10,000 gold to retrain every weapon (and some I've paid the 10k several times to keep retraining on some weapons) but it was totally worth it to get the perfect builds for me.

I have had a few characters with 5 points in it, was quite devastating when you could quick cast it. It is also good to use when you are actually low on health, it doesn't take that much health when you are low. Trouble with that is now building it up and low health combo.

It is pretty hard for it to be effective now that they fixed the quick cast glitch.

If you are looking to wipe out all enemies in kingshead's center, I can do that with flame skull.

Thanks!

Thanks, everyone.

I was thinking about trying out "Desolation" when landing on Spanish flagships. I'll probably mess around with it for a couple of weeks and then get rid of it. Luckily, I've made very few mistakes with my skill point allocations up 'til now because I've received all my advice from these fourms! :pirate2:

However, it's nice to know I could move some things around if I wanted to. I might even pull some points out to make leveling easier.

theres a secret to desolation with hardly charging.....

it goes a lil' like this:
ok bring out pistol. use take aim and charge full. then keep hold mouse and press esc while holding left mouse then hold function and F6 (no function on pc) then if ur ammo is desolation it comes out as desolation.

enjoy the desolation

PS any problem just pm me.

Nack, they fixed that when new tortuga came out.
