Using Team Speak?

I recently have tossed around the idea of offering people in my guild the option of using Team Speak to chat with each other in game over voice. I have never used any voice software in any gaming as of yet... I am not sure how well it works, and how much lag it may cause in game. The program its self seems to demand very little in what I have tried with it so far, but I have yet to give out the server information to any guild mates to try. I was wondering if any of you have any experience using it, or better yet using it with POTCO. I all ready have it installed, and have set up all the admin, and super admin stuff to create a server, as well as registered with no IP so that I can just give players a web address to connect to instead of throwing out my IP address to people. Just curious what experience others have had, and any tips on it you could provide. Thanks in advance.

I can tell you this.....I've seen others get banned for even discussing (in game chat) the use of third party applications to utilize in conjunction with POTC Online.

Yeah, I would always make another account and say it from that one so you wont get banned.

I have used teamspeak a while back, but not on Potc. Have used vent as well, and on pirates.

The biggest issue is what was already stated. Giving out a guild site, with this info. Giving this info out in game, or just future members joining and giving out info to them some how.

It has been a Disney issue for quite a while, and what sorta of content going over these lines is out of their control, such as parental controls, so many many bans have resulted.

So this is the biggest problem, and what is going to result is bans, even knowing this going into it, some will always push it and end up ban. Many have resulted in permabans, and have seen that first hand.

In the game, it makes communication a lot nicer though. Always easier saying a few things, than trying to drive a ship, shoot cannons or something, and stop and type.

Ive used both for years, although mostly Ventrilo.
As long as your not hosting the 'server' portion on your home pc, you should be fine.

Some will say.. it works for me... but ive heard 50x more... "how come it lags" questions in this configuration than I have heard success stories.

If your just using the client to connect to a server, you should be fine. (and dont be passing voice server info in POTCO!)

I have been banned once all ready, but it was when i first started playing the game. I got busted for exchanging emails with a guildmaster on creating a web site for our guild, that guild has since broken up. Since that took place, the friend emailed me and gave me some tips on getting by Disney's chat filters... some how he done some research and got a'hold of the chat monitoring software that they use. Since then, the chat has changed with the last Port Royal update, but I have yet to get banned for sharing a website in chat by going at it the way my friend told me to. I am not planning on giving out any of the info within POTCO chat about team speak, just placing a tutorial on our guilds website on how to use it, and how to connect to it. I am mostly just wanting to mess around with it some, I really like the idea of doing a boss battle with a crew all on voice.

Side Note: It seems to me with the new chat update, and only certain words are now able to be transferred to limited chat accounts why even bother now with monitoring the chat? It seems to me if a person has an unlimited chat account in game they should be able to give any information they want to each other because shouldnt they be of age? I know this has been discussed before about adult chat, I dont want to open a new can of worms or any thing.

If you run anye third party applications while playing POTCO you should expect to get suspended. Third party applications were used in toontown two years or so back to train doodles without any work. Many were suspended for this because they didn't read the terms you agree to when you make a POTCO account.

You won't be fine unless you DON'T use the third party applications while playing POTCO.

I've used Xfire for Voice Chat and its pretty sweet, considering it is FREE!

Oh, and get this - you can also VIDEO record your sessions as well as text chat and voice chat out of their reach!

Thanks for the info on X-Fire, I have heard both good and bad about it, mainly that it installs a bit of spyware on your system. I successfully set up a Team Speak server, and system. I just neglected posting about it on here because I have been kind of on pause with POTCO untill new updates come out. The Team Speak thing though worked quite well for me. If I ever get a guild going again, or take a big part in one at some point I plan on setting up an old PC to act as my Team Speak server, that way I cut out any lag on my PC from running the game, and the server on the same machine.

And to the person reguarding "third party software": Team Speak has nothing to do with POTCO, it is an independent application running as well on your system, if Disney were to ban people for using that, they might as well ban people for using Live and AOL messenger while playing the game at the same time. They would have no grounds to ban you, they could only ban you for mentiong using outside means of communication within the game, and if they do that, they will have to ban every person who uses this site lol. "Third Party Software" would be a program that made your character level, which I have seen running many times in POTCO, it sets up a sequence of key-strokes near an enemy spawn location, and just hacks the sword until another enemy appears and it has been defeated. It may not sound like much, but that running 24-7 for a couple of days would have you mastered on a weapon in no time. I am not doing that, when I pay for unlimited access I pay to play the game for entertainment purposes, not to stroke my ego and make me feel "big" by having a high level character (I have a life outside the game lol).
