What exactly is a guild?
 

Ahoy! I have a general idea but what exactly is it?

I played Star Wars Galaxies (well quitting on July 2nd) and if it's anything the same, a guild is like a club. In a guild you have a leader and maybe a council. In the guild you have friends or members that you do stuffs with. Like parties or treasure hunts. It's really fun, a guild.

kind of like what i was thinking but not quite, i don't join the guilds yet on the game bc im not quite sure what they are lol

It is just basically a bunch of members in one big crew. Pirates Crew has said that each guild created will get special treatments or something like that.

hmm do you know if you can leave a guild when you please?

You should be able to leave a guild. If that's not the case not many people will join a guild. You probably can chose to by doing some action. On Star Wars you type in this command and you automatically leave. Also, on Star Wars, the leader or people with permission could choose the remove one from the guild.

Yes, you are able to leave the crew/guild. You are also able to be kicked from the guild.

Also guilds could help during raids,especially the ones that are hard, and I am pretty sure you can leave the guild. hopes this helps- colbella

Speaking of guilds I am so mad that the Devs have yet to create our guild system..
I mean the little guild control button is on our profile menu but it does nothing.. I mean that is going to be a huge part of game.. I know from SWG and WOW the guild I run currently have over 150 members that play both games and some are testing this game right now.. also Captain this might help clear it up for you too think of it this way.. a guild is a permant group.. when u get picked to be in a guild the guild naem will be over your pirates name for everyone to see. and guilds can be enemys or firends with other guilds. it is like the crew is now but as we all know crew is just like a group in WOW or SWG where as the group is gon once evryone logs out. you are a member of guild until u or the leader drops your membership.. all guild usally have websites and forums of their own and 99% of the use Ventrio or teamspeak to talk in game.. if anyone is interested in getting in our WOW/SWG/POTCO guild thast we have formed either send a ingame whisper to me or PM me here my in game name is needles O'Brien our website is almost down for pirates and i have our teamspeak server up and running..

I'm not entirely sure but, it could be like a crew but on a larger scale I guess. Like 3 ships instead of one. It's like some groups working together as one. It's kinda hard to explain :(

the only way i can explain this is this way using the word group instead of crew.. when u are online and want to go hunt things or blow things up u get more xp per kill if u are in a group or crew.. you can start a group anytime by clicking ona pirate and choose the invite to crew button. 8 pirates can be linked at any given time. as pirates log out others can be added to the group.. there is no other purpse to a crew than that.. after the leader of the crew logouts the crew is disbared. maybe once all the slash commands are written into this game we will be able to change control of the crew to another priate but we cant do that yet. no as far as a guild goes this is just a collection players from around the world that hang out online in forums and voice chat with eachother while playing.. in games like WOW and SWG a guild is formed in game by a player who is the leader then he or she can invite others into the guild give tasks to officers and the such.. some guilds are as same as 10 or so then there are guild like my rebel guild on the ahazi server that is 155 active players right now.. so if a few of the guildie get together and form a crew and go and hunt stuff they can.. now as far as the guild system goes in POTCO Sony has not given us any bones yet.. so we dont know if we get nice titles above our heads like other MMO's or if we will get Guild Ships that hold 50 or so players on them.. I am sure as testing goes on we will hear more.. so right now some of the beta testers are forming guilds outside the game to help eachother until this game goes live if it ever does.. to me we have like 6 or 8 months of testing left too go so who knows.. if u have any other questions reguarding guilds ask me if want to also go check out the sony or WOW forums and read thier guild pages.. some are pretty elaborate..

6 to 8?!?!!? That's just ridiculous. I don't have that kind of patience lol
