A Few Questions.
Hey,
I’m fairly new to the game, started playing about a month ago, and recently brought Unlimited Access. I’ve got a few questions to ask, and would be very grateful for a response. I’ve got a level 20 voodoo doll, with 2 attunment, Ranked 5 poke and Swarm, heal, curse, cure and chain wrap, and ranked 4 health drain. I currently level up but attuning 2 terror wasps / rock crabs on a wild island. I get about 70-100 rep per kill, so 140-200 rep per round. Is there any better way to level up? I’ve just got my grenade and its level 4. I find it very hard to level it up as I run out of nades fairly quickly. I can kill the boss on Padres Beach as I run out of nades L. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Where can I find Stumps? What wild island / place do I have to go to? Thank you for you help! |

If your trying to level your grenades, get a friend and hit up Kingshead till around level 8 Grenade, then you can kill by yourself.
All you have to do is go behind the white picket fence and toss the grenade using long volley into the middle of the Group of Soldiers. They will come to you, and you can kill them. |
Welcome to POF !! Enjoy your stay....

You've been getting some really good rep from that doll. The back of Padres beach is one of the best places, in my opinion, to leave your doll up.
Grenades, if you don't level those up you'll regret it later. I have level twenty grenades and if I ever master them the last rep I'll see is +3. You don't want to leave grenades behind. Level them up more than all your other weapons and it will be easier in the end. If you can have them at level twenty by the time your nort is thirty then that's great. |
I agree with MacIronhawk. As soon as I get my grenades on my pirates I level them to 20 before I do anything else. If you do this at the Kinshead parade grounds you can level them up to twenty and the NPC's still give decent rep - so long as leveling grenades is all you do and stay there and throw until they are level 20. After that Tormenta and a healer, or Padres back beach are the best spots. You'll need a friend or a second computer to log into to TP back and forth to Kinshead to make it easier.

once i reached about level 18 on doll i started going to cutthroat and attuning 3 stumps at a time. 300 rep after dancing with them. repeat, repeat, repeat. went from level 21 to 22 yesterday in about 30 minutes.

On my first pirate, I did grenades last. MAN I wish someone had told me to master grenades first. (Actually, I think several people did, but I just didn't get it.) On every subsequent pirate, I make a very serious effort to master grenades as soon as possible, since it was so unbelievably miserable, the first time around.
Once grenades are level 25, you can visit Joshamee Gibbs and start the Black Pearl quest or even start grinding on other weapons. But if you don't do grenades and only grenades first, you'll be very sorry later. |
I know I told everyone not to do that, Edward just never listens, haha, J/K.
First off we have had a phase change, in using hex shot and killing three molusk at once. = gone. Original poster, cranking doll up, or for that matter, doing grenades all up, will draw out your game play later. Unless you plan on using invincibility or something, you work at one skill a time means one thing. You kill the same thing over and over for that one skill instead of killing it once for several skills at once. Darkhart is easiest example. Kill for 100 point in grenades, use a ton of grenades. Do it many times to get a level. Or same thing, but use throw dagger, staff low hits, pistol low hits, grenade low hits. Switch back and forth using these skills, near the last life, or letting recharge and second time around low life, go use doll, curse, maybe finish with cutlass. grenade 100 points dagger 100 points pistol 100 points staff 100 points Doll, cutlass some points. So, do one skill for 100 points, or all and 500ish. Take any one of these out, because it is max, is just a 100 points less you could get. Thus the reason to usually keep your skills all around the same levels. This is with no cheating, other than Darkhart won't attack unless you go melee is considered by yourself a cheat. You added invincibility to this, a easy 600 points for 100 in each skill, join a crew = more. Thus why invincibility could really get out of hand if not put on check. With one crew 20% I think that is like 720 rep a kill, or something like that. Sounds like a task for Edward, get a full crew and take a pic of max crew rep and weapon rep, haha. So who will first post that, hmm? |
I would recommend also that you get in a good guild where you can tell them to help you lvl up. Kindly, talk to the Guild Master to organize a Huge Crew for you, everyone in that crew will just heal you and make sure you would be the only one hitting the enemy... you will see that you will be glowing all day long lol.
Good luck Matey and welcome to POF. |

IDK - I found most "max rep" exercises to be extraordinarily time-consuming...much moreso than just doing one weapon at a time. On the other hand, adding a "taunt + curse + throw dirt" series to every enemy I could, while grinding, really added up. |
Well this would be a exercise only to get a pic. Crew bonus max is I believe 50%, so 900 rep max, simple.
Knowing of now a few invulnerability glitches still left in the game, I can say this wasn't that tough at all. Getting a crew to stand around and can't teleport to ya, could be more tricky. I would be willing to bet not that many could do it, especially nearing the 40 level. I figure many couldn't help but go max doll or at least one of their skills early on. |
