Yet another update mess-up.

Besides the complete lack of the cool emotes and the ships in SvS being all screwy and the frequent connection losses, has anybody noticed the crew mess up? Now when someone in your crew goes offline or changes servers, is says "disconnected" in the crew list. That in itself is inconvenient enough, but it gets worse- if the crew leader leaves, he/she remains the crew leader even though he/she may be "disconnected." This means that even if the crew leader goes offline, no one else can invite new crew members. Don't get me wrong, the new updates are great, but they were released wayyy too early with wayyy too many bugs...

One thing though that is kinda nice is when you get disconnected and re-join it asks you if you want to re-join the crew.
I agree it can cause problems as well.

Am I one of the few that thinks almost every part of the new update is an abysmal failure?

The absolute only thing I think they did right was giving the captain the ability to boot a crew member.

But at what cost? someone at Disney needs to lose their job over this latest fiasco.

too many problems to list simpler to note the positives and that was only 1 thing.

Well, I disagree that there was only one positive thing in the updates. I like several things, and I like some of the changes simply for the fact that they are changes. But I do agree that there a TON of bugs in the updates that almost make it not worth it. However, a few of the bugs have been fixed, so I'm (for the most part) optimistic about the updates. The long-time glitches, on the other hand, are a completely different story........

well... where any of you really surprised?

It has happen before and it will happen again... at least they are trying to do something about content... can they do better? of course they can... lets just hope they can little by little upgrade and include more good things than bad things.

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the new Port Royal was a training exercise for a new programmer (or two or three...) I don't know about you, but I'm very encouraged by the improvements I've seen lately. They did fix the SvS crew fiasco (I think?) so the worst of it is over. Just wish they left it on test a bit longer before releasing it.

That's pretty worthless at the moment, cuz they gotta be "in the crew" to boot them off the ship. My problem with this is, you cant boot someone off if they steal the wheel, unless they are in your crew. if you are the captain of the ship, you should be able to boot anyone regardless of them being in your crew or not.

Brilliant Disney, brilliant.

The simple solution is to make sure everyone on board is crewed when they arrive... who would sail not being crewed (and lose out on bonus REP)?

Edward Edgemenace 02-14-2009 07:00 PM

Well, since booting people off ship, only works in SvS...it means that public boarding is now more hazardous than ever. Yet sometimes, that's the only way to get fresh crew members on board, in SvS. (ymmv)

The ones likely to steal the wheel while you are repairing, are the same ones that will decline crew invitations. (For the same sinister reasons.) Logically, someone not in my crew should be able to be on my ship: the fact that they are on my ship should logically add them to my official crew automatically first, before they are on board.

I mean, if the captain & crew-head has discretion about who can be in the official crew, why are they sabotaged by not being able to say who can be on board?

djr_8fan 02-15-2009 12:45 AM

Hey, that is a good idea Edward about automatically crewing all pirates who tp to you ship.

Would be nice if the "walk the plank" idea would include anyone on your ship, not just those in the crew. Especially in the SvS. One reason I dont play to much is becuase of those who take over your ship while everyone else is trying to repair. And we all know which types of pirates do this....
