Darnit. I thought we'd get a chance to play on test with it, before it went live. I wanted to get some farewell videos of the old Port Royal...drat!

katarakyan 02-01-2009 05:07 AM

new PR is cool, but is it what we want as pirates?? or should they just put their time developing the new PR into developing new story?? or introducing new quest?? or maybe new enemies... just a thought

akamystic 02-01-2009 12:59 PM

The new PR is undoubtedly cool...however I think this release should have stayed on Test a bit longer as we now have another bunch of bugs to squash. You'll always have bugs with a new release, but to limit them to a small percentile before going public would be nice. It's also difficult to foresee these things.

The makeover is nice....but how long will it hold over all the angry Pirates that want more content?? I'm sure the Developers are hard at work as Disney saw all the frustration in the feedback that has been provided. We complained and complained....so they deployed this update before they had angry Pirates lined up at the Corporate Office with toy pistols and hook hands.....lol

I like the update, although it seems to take longer to get around it it feels more like a town. I think those who are upset they did this without adding new quests or stuff should be patient. I'm sure this is just the start. The whole Caribbean is gonna have a makeover (at least I hope so)but they do promise new content and quests and other things we have requested.

The new Port Royal looks great, I really like it, its alot more like a town now, and after creating a new pirate to see the new starting and it flows really well.

No, this isnt what we were looking for but it may definately be eluding to what we want.

The redesign of PR, separates areas, allowing systems to track and render fewer changes, and should help with lag both on servers, and on local machines. This could help them in implementing new content, larger township, new NPCs to weave into the story line, etc.

Indeed if it does help with the lag issues as it should, then it IS part of what we asked for as players/members/customers.

If there is any real problem here, its that they put it on open a little to quickly.

Even though Nack doesn't want to hear from people who like it...

I'm liking it myself. The in-game map, either using the mini compass or the clickable full size is something i have been waiting for. Sweet!

You hit the nail on the head OFxZeppers. Agreed 100%.

It's good, but confusing at first.
The new music is brilliant. I love it.
I dislike the new tutorial, though. It first one was a whole lot better.

I post probably more negative responses than most, but point out what certain things do, or do not do. I back up what I respond to generally with reasons, and many times reasons not being looked at I believe by Many.

So this is a multiple situation question that has both good and bads.

Port Royal in itself for me not top of the list, but it does have a different look. The big picture, if this cures many lag issues many people have then it is well worth it. This will set up are next future updates to things people seek.

The bads I see right now, a lot of added problems that now have to be dealt with before taking that next step. I agree the release was to early, with one big problem.

This big problem is letting this out while svs is in the state it is right now. Joining a crew and going into svs has opened up a glitch, that Spanish can attack French in hand to hand combat. This requiring a fix soon, as the implications of this becomes more and more apparent. Though I haven't tested how far it can go, I assume its a matter of time before groups will be sitting at the opposite Islands waiting for people to dock and attack them. Knowing wall glitches already in PR I see this also soon to be used with attacking opposite side. With stuck in these svs sides in crew, other members will not get xp from normal play, another problem as crews are set to one side of svs by one individual, while others were working at other things. This glitch being reported before release, just frustrates those of us testing, and future arguements that some like it and others not.

This is the side of the PR release I am not happy with, being released and then going to have to be dealt with. Let alone many other glitches in the different areas. The chat not being blocked and other details that came with this patch are some long waited features. So in general I pretty much regurgitated what Zep stated, but upset with what may be required to get this straighten out.

Ile d'Etable de Porc is the new Tortuga, for PvP glitchers. (About 30-40 on the beach on Abassa.)

While I had been willing to live with the SvS glitches last month, it is unthinkable now. There is no aspect of PvP that sits well with POTCO. It would be better to have a single server where you are 100% undead, all the time on it...keep the riff-raff away from real servers.

Why they never added a one-minute timer-check for undead mode is impossible to understand. If you have infinite ammo OR can hit another pirate OR can be hit by another pirate, you should be logged out, if not in a PvP arena. Still not rocket science. Still destroying SvS. Still causing lag storms on crazy A servers.

Will they forge ahead leaving it broken, as it is now? I kindof hope so. The vocal element that actually LIKES glitching and therefore actually LIKES PvP maybe can be left to Abassa, with all real SvS elsewhere. If they ignore this, but add content (Kraken) then noone will have time to whine about the newest PvP exploit.

I like the new Port Royal. I do miss the old Port Royal because it resembles the movie island most of us like.
But this new Port Royal makes the game even more unique by giving the game its own storyline. IE, the EITC crumble the old Port Royal.

Other than that I hated this updated. Once again Disney refused to take the time to fix most of the bugs and glitches that us test pirates reported. I'm all for new content but when the game isn't playable due to bugs then something should be done.

If you look at Team Bios on the POTCO site you'll see the staff is a good nineteen people strong. Since October of 2008 the staff has only added in level five weapons, the new Port Royal, and fixed some bugs.
What have they been doing besides that? Surely they've been working on something big all this time.
I hope the POTCO staff is working overtime because they've had a lot of time to fix bugs and add in new content.

i only dont like it cause i cant locate anything and i lost unlimited a while ago so im sorda ticked

Nicholasfunstuff 02-13-2009 02:39 PM

I like it, and don't like it. I like it because it is well designed and looks awesome, but it is hard to get around and sometimes wish that the old port royal would come back.

Fillyteen 02-13-2009 02:42 PM

I like it but it did bug me in the begining when I got lost a few times.
Good thing they gave us a map but you have to push one of the F buttons on the keyboard to get the map to show up.

One thing I wish they could update was how many grenade points your getting for one guy. One point for a low level grey level graveyard guy or navy.

Jedigreedo 02-14-2009 05:09 AM

I'm really liking the new PR, I feel it gives it a much more entrancing atmosphere than the straight-line version did. Just makes me wish there was more to do there to truly enjoy the setting.
