Test Release Notes - January 26, 2009

Release Notes - January 26, 2009
  • Fixed many bugs, including (but not limited to) the Tutorial, the new Port Royal, mini-maps and more.

----

Not a big update, but just something to denote all the fixes and such which have been made. (Wonder if I can get on now?)

Yay maybe the new Port Royal is almost done!

Since the tours are scheduled for Feb. 6th - I would thing that would be the day of the release... once again ignoring the fact that bugs may still exist and push ahead anyway with their own adjenda at our expense... but hey - theres a date for ya :)

Just logged on for a few. Seems the maps are working, but now weapons are not...there's no animation when you pull or swing your cutlass the first time, have to put it away and take it out several times to get it to work....LOVELY. Back to it ;)

Most of the bugs are fixed for this update. I can't say the same thing about previous builds, though.

The only bug I notice is that changing your graphics or full screen will cause textures to disappear and reappear.
Looks like Sarah found some new bugs. If this is supposed to come out within the next two weeks they better hurry up.

I am actually seeing quite a few things, many probably pending from previous updates. I noticed that with the weapon myself, actually didn't send a report in on that one, I am seeing several other things though.

(Join a crew), launch a ship from a svs Island, dock, breaks svs.
Ship tracking still off in compass.
Can't get to my items but in clothing.
Guild status flaky, hard to tell if or if not fixed but over time.

Port Royal in itself not to bad.
Getting on and off texture issues. As well as a wall glitch in same area.

Server crashing periodically.

Isn't that what we are currently used to?

Pushing through regardless of bugs and glitches... Nevermind the testers... As desperate as I am too play and enjoy new things, I would also like good quality on those updates... I rather play with the new things on Mid-Late February than have an OK update with the extra fun things (bugs, glitches, and lag Oh My!) and play now... Once again what is the point of having testers? Is it to make us feel like we are part of the creative process?

Most major releases are on wednesdays, Id expect to see the updates on the *thinks* Next wednesday

Seems this update messed up the chat again

Premade phrases are popping up twice in crew chat, then you get a spamming message. I assume this new "feature" (the spamming thing) is meant for local chat to cut down on the constant banter in some servers on some beaches, but it's only happening in crew chat, not local....

Got booted from test three times last night.
First time, went to jail on the new Port Royal, and as soon as I kicked the door open, CRASH!
Second time was my own fault!
Third time, was on Tortuga, and noticed something strange in graphics. If I stood near the well by Scarlet, Facing the exit to the beach, the gun shop and the entryway to the beach looked incomplete. The "arch" entry was squared off. As I approached the beach entry, it would morph into the arch, windows would appear in the buildings, a few other things.

I would back up, and things would change again. Trees would appear and disappear, it was pretty strange.

SO, I decided to adjust my graphics in game to see if they had any effect. Changed the grapics to all HIGH, instead of the normal custom that I run, and CRASH!

This one was bad! It affected not only test, but the regular game. For the next 25 minutes, I could not get into either of them, unless I went to windowed version, and kept the window very small. As soon as I tried to resize the window, or go full screen, I would get booted.

I eventually reset my puter graphics to 800X600, opened the game, reset the displays to match the 800X600 setting of the puter, closed the game, rebooted the puter, reset the puter graphics to 1280X764, reopened the game and matched them, and then things seemed to work OK.

Not sure what happened, but I have never had a problem like this before.

So many of these small updates, its hard to track what is really happening much of the time.

One Today fixed my items in jewelry and tattoo's.

Breaks:
Water
The f6 crash game now is back. (found that out on a flag ship, oops)
Turning in a circle seems to have graphic skips now.
EDIT: actually looks like staff, doll, and grenades are all auto crashes right now.

New gold plundering technique.

Now we have a white sea.

Well anyways, when one thing gets fixed hard to say what that may bring with it.

Since the latest update it's pretty much un-testable for me right now, as soon as I get on and start moving the game crashes.

And has anyone noticed the change in the bug report screen you get after a crash now? No longer has an area to enter comments, just has the logs and a submit button.

They don't read the comments anyway!
