How Did You Become a Pirate?

Lizzy was sitting here thinkin about when she was first introduced to POTCO. She met a pirate on another site that she frequented. Didn't know at the time that he was a pirate! Probably for the best...Pirates are frightening beings for those that aren't acquainted...lol But after chatting back & forth for awhile, Lizzy decided to give POTCO a try. She was very timid, at first, and awkward. Well, she is still at bit awkward, but a lot stronger at this point. Anyways, that was a little over a year ago, and Lizzy is at home in the pirate community now...Thanks to Bart who guilded her, her Krewe mates, and her friends on both POTCO & the Forum. Was just wondering...how did the rest of you become "Pirates of the Caribbean"? :piratewheelgo2:

Nice idea for a thread Lizzy! Lets see my friend came over we had NOTHING to do. So we just started playing my 360, we got bored so we turned it off. Right when we turned the channel back there was a commercial. It was at the ending of the commercial all I heard was Pirates Of The Caribbean Online so it looked cool. It was time for my friend to go home. Once he left I checked it out and here I am. :)

Always been a big fan of POTC, the amusement park ride had always been a favorite of my families. Then the movies came out, and they are all great films, love watching them all over and over. Around Superbowl time last year I saw the ad on TV, and had to give it a shot. Swore I would never 'pay' a monthly fee to play a game. I enjoyed myself in free play, but quickly came to the point I had to subscribe to continue. Still vowing not to pay I justified trying to use a gift card i'd gotten for christmas, and it worked! I was able to play for 2 months on that card, and when that ran out.. well I was hooked. Im on an annual subscription now. :)

Avast me hearties!!! Tis a great game.. More please Disney!

I heard about POTCO coming out in beta when I was playing TT and a bit more active on the TTC site. The day it went live, I started playing. I think I was a basic member for all of 45 minutes before I signed up for the annual subscription. Two Open and Two Test accounts later, I'm still piratin' ;)

Got an e-mail from Disney a week before going to WDW (I get two newsletters a month from them on stuff) and one was to try out the game... I was looking for a new game to ry out - so I signed up - and crashed when I went to sail.

I was stuck in Port Royal for a few days until I switched my video card back to an older model after I couldn't find an answer to my issue here (this was before the ATI fixes were posted here... and that's when I discovered POF as well ;). Once I sailed... I was TOTALLY hooked, and payed up. :D

I had been playing Pixie Hollow for about 4 months & saw the Pirates logo onthe Disney Games page. I checked it out & made a Pirate but decided it was way too complicated for me. I tried again about 5 months later when others on Pixie Hollow Forums talked about it. I made a new Pirate & "Lightened up my screen" lo & behold I could see!! I have been playing ever since (about a month now) So I have my Pixie Pals to thank especially Li & Molly! Now I have 7 Pirates to go along with my 8 Fairies :) I knewe about POF because I am on PHF & the sites share many admins & mods so I feel right at home here too of course!!

I clicked a little link, ended up registering... and then here I am, a year, 3 months, and 10 days later (at least since becoming unlimited :D)

Well in February 2007 I was watching tv and I saw this ad for POTCO. I disregarded it as some child's game. The commercial keep airing and airing, kinda got annoying. Then I thought, why not look into it. I had never played a online game before. So in March I signed up. I remember in the begging I keep getting killed by crabs... AAhhhh crabs!!!!!!!

When I 1st played, when I saw AFK players I thought they were players who had gone offline.... and when they logged on, their pirate is there where they left it.

As the son of a son of a sailor, I went out on the sea for adventure. Matt and I saw the commercial for POTCO over a year ago and we tried it as basic access players. Didn't take long for ME to be the one who got hooked and started paying.

I saw a commercial when it first came out and remember thinking, oh that looks cool but never wrote down the info. Between that time my POTC craze really kicked in. Finally I caught the commercial again and that's what brought me here! Was hooked the second Jack helped me out of jail lol.. :)

I saw a commercial. I'm a sucker for an ad of a fun-producing product: I've joined another game recently because of an ad (not pirate-related, much cheaper) and am currently singing the song for the Turbo-Fill Blaster (you can blast faster...) all the time. I also intend to get the last item listed.

Believe it or not, I did research before the game came out.

I looked up pirate games during 2006 and found out that there would be a Disney's Pirates Online. After playing toontown, nothing was going to stop me from playing this game. I then signed up for beta 2 after months of looking at the video insiders on the pirate site. I made it, played during beta 2, and have been hooked ever since.

I don't mind wasting $80 a year on a game that I enjoy, even if content hasn't come out for quite a while. I played console games a lot before online games. I'm so used to not having more content I'm perfectly fine with it. (I do admit that new content is fun, though.)

After many commercials during Dec 07 and Jan 08 and much proding by my oldest daughter I signed up for pirates so she could play. Then after several daddy can you help me do this, find this, fight this, sink this I was hooked and created my first pirate. Now 18 months later she has moved on to TT and I am working on my 5th pirate.
