Fixing Stuck Ships & Inventory Limits

Just ask Captain Jack Sparrow - even the best laid plans get mixed up ... like a week ago when we offered the Gold Skull Bandana during the Founders Feast event - due to a miscommunication, we incorrectly messaged how players would be able to get the Bandana and when it was available.

We're sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We've seen a lot of the Bandanas in game, but if getting the item caused you grief, you'll be happy to know that later this month we'll make the Gold Skull Bandana available again (watch for more details in the Game Insider monthly Newsletter). However, please note: if your inventory is full, you WILL have to remove an item to accommodate the Bandana - at the same time we're adding a Double Gold event as a make-good for what we're calling -The Bandana Incident.

We're very aware of the inventory limitations and are working to fix this. In fact, a new inventory system is just one of the big features scheduled for 2009, read more about this on the Grog Blog.

While we're on the subject of fixing things, we're also aware that some Pirates are getting stuck at sea on their ships. We have a fix for that issue currently on our QA and Test Server and are working to get the solution out as quickly as possible (fingers crossed, by next week). We appreciate your understanding regarding these issues and as always, thanks for sailing with us.

Pirates Inventory System December 10, 2008

Later this month we'll make the Gold Skull Bandana available again. However, if your inventory is full, you WILL have to delete items from your inventory to get the item.

As our inventory system currently works, a Pirate is able to carry a certain amount of any customizable item. For example, with clothing there are 7 types of clothing and you can carry 4 items per type. A hat is a type of clothing.

Certain items (like Quest rewards) are placed in your inventory regardless of what you are carrying. If you delete one of the four items in your inventory, the Quest item will automatically take the place of that deleted item and your inventory is full again. If you want to purchase an item and your inventory is full, you must delete items from your inventory to add the item you want to buy. In some cases, if you have 4 items of the same kind, plus a Quest item, the Quest item will take the place of a deleted item, which means you may have to delete multiple items depending on the circumstance.

We're currently working to improve our inventory system, it's just one of the major features we're developing for 2009 - to significantly expand what your Pirate can carry. How much do you think you should be able to carry? What features would you like to see in the inventory system?

First question I would have, and have asked before, what does this do to rare drops in clothing. If your inventory is full then you don't get it, or does it stack, until something else is removed.

Off Subject kinna...As for the Grog Blog...I have tried numerous times to got on it...I always receive the busy server thingey...isn't much help to a pirate if said pirate can't get to it! thanks for the update Chris...

LOL, apparently updates are announced only a few days after a major "Update the game!" message is posted.

Amazing isnt it!? I send a few emails to disney about their game not being cared for, threads are being started on POF abotu how dead the game is and how there havent been any decent updates and BOOM! days later and update comes out about updates :D Ironic.

lol, yes they brought it up AFTER a thread was started but that doesn't mean they weren't already working on it. At the rate Disney goes this could be about a month in the making LOL. But really.....even if they just released a statement about updates that doesn't mean its because of the thread......Disney isn't quick to start with updates only a few days after. I mean really.....how long does it take them with this stuff and then this can be thought of in a few days? I don't think so.

It just makes no sence that they go all out on a UK adition with darts and scars and eye patches ect ect and give us nothing. That being said, we must learn to keep the ants out of our pants :)

Some call it irony... I call it coincidence. Can't be that hard for Disney to realize their game is lacking. I highly doubt it had anything to do with the thread either.

Actually you read the thread, it is mostly based on the clothing issue and time frame to pick it up. That was two weeks ago that they probably got a mass of complaints, during the Thanksgiving event.

It was posted you didn't need to make room.
A Gm I talked to I got a impression it was going to go like it did.
On the pop-up window it announced until Dec. 7 to pick up the bandanna.

Wow, now it's 'The Thread". Look, we all know these bones being tossed our way have NOTHING to do with anything that's been mentioned on POF in the last few days, heck, even the last few months. So let's stop trying to back door grief what has become a very hot topic here.

Now as for POTCO attempting to fix their blunder with the FF Bandana, great, I think they should. Hope they get the invetory thing straightened out first. However, if this is their big plan for "Coming in 2009"....ugh, going to be a few more unhappy pirates out there.

Ok after actually reading it im mad >_< i got the bandana on all my pirates. Except for my level 40 because he has the Black Bandana from febuary and the 3 quest hats plus the item i started with. So wait disney you are telling me that i will have to sell two of my quest hats just to get this and to make up for it you are planning a double gold event?!!? Excuse me but umm i have 65000 gold yup that like my inventory is maxed as well. Interesting theory once again my no high school diploma idea still proves true.

Sorry, did I miss the rule where we have to address it as Basil's post about Disney's lack of new content?

If bigger closets are whats coming up in 2009, I know I'll be a happy pirate, not unhappy.

Well after I thought about it, I just got a friend started in pirates, and I cant abandon that friend. Still considering cancelling though and using the last 90day card I had saved for my 2nd pirate though instead.. just get it used up and over with.


They make no sense whatsoever offering the bandana again BEFORE they fix inventory.

Why is it so hard to expand the inventory. I had maxed at 4 shirts before doing the clothing quests and now with a couple of the rare clothing drops I am up to 9 shirts with one pirate. If the space is there then the problems must be a restiction in the code when you buy that should not be too hard to change. I think they are waiting to roll out item trading as well as items with attribute bonuses with the expanded inventory in one big update.

Im almost with you on that one zeps. To bad it would be a waste of money since i wouldnt get anything back.

It is amazing that after I have deleted a quest item to make room for the bandana, they are offering a double-gold to make up. Just like Chris, my bank is maxed, therefor, that is irrelevant. This is why I have sent suggestions to Disney telling them that, gifted items should automatically be added to your inventory, regardless of how much room you have.

What about a "parrot" as a gift. just like the one the Pirate in the "Pirates At Work" Sign has?

i think there just smoke screenin us so they dont have a mass exit from the game....been playin almost a year there has not been all that much added. not sure if i will renew it depends on them.....now playin pirates of the burnin sea to.

well either or disney devs started working on new upgrades of the game after that thread or have started doing upgrades way before that, its good to know that they really are doing something about the game, that being said just left one question in mind.... when??? its hard to to make promises of these and that and just leave ur pirates hanging and waiting and waiting and waiting..........but thats a good start

It is nice to hear that Disney has something in the works us, but what’s a high lvl pirate to do but wait for something exciting to come into the game. i hope they have a New Year update for the game or maybe a visit from Santa would be nice. Until then we will have to find our own ways to keep entertained

I'm so excited for the new clothing update. I'm still a bit curious about if we will be able to get back a quest item we sold because I sold my truehound bandana for the skull bandana. I posted on the Grog Blog about this, but there is no response yet.
