Dagger Quest
 

Has anyone completed this quest and actually gotten a dagger from Will?
He has all the materials, but Elizabeth (to keep me occupied) wants a message about her father from a "powerful" navy ship. I have searched all over the seas and can find nothing higher than a LVL 8 navy ship.
Any hints on where one was found, if one was found, would be greatly appreciated.

Ditto here. I just need the letter too, but can't seem to locate that "powerful" navy ship, although I've sunk dozens of them.

I'm in the same exact situation.

I think the ship does not exisit yet!

thats my theary too I have heard in game that the ship will only appear to us unlinmited Beta testers but i have still yet to see it.. who kn ows

I am stuck on this quest also, except I seem to be stuck a little earlier in the quest.

I have probably killed 20 Sergeants, and none of them had the Tongs.

When I started, we were supposed to find them from a "First Mate" but it changed to Sergeant while I was working on the other items.

Is there a specific Sergeant that has the tongs, or is it just random luck to find the right guy? Anyone want to share how they acquired them? :)

on padre, sargent who pops near back wall/hallway in the fort/jail.
killed them with another player, both of us got the drop of tongs
first kill.

side note: did your quest actually change, like they updated the quest while u had it going? if so it might not work.

Thanks for the tip :) I have only been killing Sergeants in the fort on Port Royal. I'll check out the other island.

Actually I have started over so many times with new characters that I can't remember if it actually changed on this one while I was working on it or if it changed because I switched from one character to another.

I just remember looking for a first mate and reading threads here where other people were looking for a First Mate, and then suddenly I noticed that mine said "sergeant".

Ok I have a dagger on a pirate I've had for a while, but really didn't play on until now. So, now I have the Will quest. My question is, do you think I will lose my current dagger if/when I finish the Will quest? I can't drop it :(

So, after several weeks I'm finally back on and on main pirate on dagger quest - got the coal and only 1 fine steel - are the other items on certain EITC ships? Been afraid to go get tongs without a buddy to go with me - LOL - and although another pirate was able to get bones from corpses several weeks ago, for some reason, it seems much more difficult now (have I lost my touch?) If somebody knows which ships the quest items are found on, I'd appreciate knowing - I've sunk many with no luck at all.

I don't think anyone has recovered the message yet. I have sunk dozens of navy ships with no luck.

I have taken 4 sergeants and still have not recieved the tongs. I assume it must be a bug. Or is it a certain sergeant we have to get? :confused:

I received the tongs after only two sergeants in the prison at Port Royal. But that was two releases ago. Changes are made with every release, I was just hoping the powerful Navy ship would show up with the latest one.

I just received the tongs the other day on a secondary character I started, after my first one is so bugged and missing so many weapon items. I could not believe the difference, but anyways I would just keep battling seargants on Port Royal near the fort. I defeated two different veterans (lvl 10) and then three seargants showed up, when I defeated one of them I received the tongs so keep trying...Oh, I recommend doing this on World 6 within your map, since I have seen many little buts on World 4 and 5...

I can't even begin to tell you how many I have taken out. I just got them yesterday. In Port Royal... was just inside working skills and happened to get it . I must have killed...maybe 10+.

I'd taken out at least 40 sergeants and thought it was hopeless and gave up for a while. Then I was just working on raising my cutlass level on some guards in the fort on Padres Del Fuego. A sergeant popped up so I went for him and was shocked when it said I had acquired the tongs!

I've done this quest about three times now (on the same character) because of bugs and now I finally have the tongs but I cannot seem to get the silver ingots, which were no problem for me in past attempts on the quest.

They definitely seem to be fine tuning the difficulty levels in each task.

Yes this task seems to be totally random,

I got the tongs off first sargeant just outside the fort in port royal on first character, but on second after over 15 sargeants still not got, then game reset my tasks, and had to do all wills again, im doing one by one in order, so havent tried tongs again.

i can't get any of the required stuff to make them even the coal ive asked ppl they say to go to the prison in port royal and search around. i've searched barrells and boxes and found nothing any ideas?

For the coal, I went to the prizon yard at Port Royal. As you enter the court yard from running up the hill, go left and up the stairs. On the left you will see an opening with a round barrel. This is where I got all my coal.

The trick is to get in the opening without the soldiers seeing you. I just hung around after I entered (unnoticed). Did all 10 in just about a minute.

The barrels in proson supply coal, can take a few searches before, u get you first, then u shud get others. However i think this may have same random properties some of other tasks, especially now.

As like tongs, I got coal first barrel then all barrels after that on first time round, but on second character, took several searches before i found my first.

I'm stuck on the dagger quest too. I have all of the items Will Turner asked for, but when I go see him, he says "Good, you're back, let's start again" and the little dialog box pops up saying I've finished the quest, but then it still says my quest is to see Will Turner. I also cannot drop this quest.

BTW, I'm at the same impass on the Doc Grog quest. I've started another pirate since I can go no further on this one.

Does anyone know if 'powerful Navy ship' mean a ship with the title Navy in front of it or is a EITC a powerful navy ship :confused:

What are u supposed to look for?

The "powerful" Navy ship isnt around yet. I have literally sunk every ship in the sea and havent been able to complete this task. Also, I have to believe there will be plenty more powerful ships when the game goes live than there are today. I cant imagine that I would be able to defeat every ship in the sea while only at canon lvl 12.

I got the message and returned it to Elizabeth, and then she asked me to find a person who knows about the Nine Rogues. I did that and now she says find the Nine Rogues. Should I return to Will now, and he'll give me a dagger? If so, SWEET!!!! (I have no clue which ship the message is on, I just sunk like 20 Navy and EITC ships. It might not even be a marked Navy ship - possibly a War Frigate that pops up near Cuba when you sink a bunch of ghost ships.)

Nine rogues is seperate task, and is not part of Dagger Quest. I have 4 of nine rogues portraits on one of my pirates(you pick them up during battles), but its only a side quest.

Yeah, I agree about the "powerful navy ships" not yet existing... After weeks of sinking ships, I haven't gotten the document, or whatever. I've given up on that one.

I'm also stuck on the free Greer from imprisonment one. I've gotten all of June's items--last was the pig--and it says complete in my journal. I return the pig to June, she takes it, and then nothing. It still says "return pig to June" in my journal...and she sends me away with an "I got nothing for ye, mate." (Until I log on again, that is, when I repeat the process again.) Quite frustrating, indeed. So I'm kind of lost and stuck...haven't played in a while, and I probably won't until this is fixed. (I've sent several bug reports.)

O'ive lost count of the number of Sargents oi've whacked and still no bloody tongs :jacksparrowvswillzu

Oi also be stuck on completin the Doc Grog task. :pirate7:
