My closet is full, how do I get my special edition bandana?

My OFx Zeppers pirate, has:

1 starter hat
1 purchased hat
3 quested hats

A total of 5.

I dont mind selling the purchased item, but I would still have 4 item limit, and would have to delete one of my 3 quested hats that i'd worked hard for.

After having read GM Roberta Roberts response to the question on the Grog Blog prior to the event which read:

ADMIN GM Roberta Roberts
The Gold Skull Bandana will automatically be added to your inventory when you visit any Tailor to pick it up. Don't worry - you won't need to delete anything to get it! We look forward to seeing all you Pirates on Tortuga and come dressed to impress!

The fact I had to delete/sell anything was extremely disappointing.

So.. here we go...

Original Message to POTCO:

Email Address : xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

From Name : Zeppers

Comments or Questions : Greetings, I appreciate all you folks do, but
to offer us special collectors items that will not fit in our closets
after we have done the clothing quests in the game is rather
disheartening. This must be fixed. Either we should be able to get
this one item without having it effect inventory, and/or quest items
should not be counted as items in our inventory, or the simplest fix
seems to me, that since your system obviousy supports more than 4 items
(i have one pirate with 5 due to questing) just raise this limit.

This has been a complaint for a long time. Even your Grog Blog
representative said we should be able to get this irregardless of
inventory.. FIX IT!!!

Thank you,

Zeppers

POTCOs Response:

Dear Zeppers,

Thank you for your recent message. A Pirate's style is a very important
indicator of who they are in the Caribbean, so we definitely understand
your concern in this matter!

Unfortunately, there is a known issue regarding the Golden Skull bandana
at this time. Though it is designed to be awarded to your inventory
automatically in the same fashion that your quest items had been
awarded, there was an issue that occurred when it was released to the
tailors. At this point, our engineers are working to resolve the issue
with this and have, in the meantime, made the bandana available for
'purchase' for those who already have a free space available.

Since this is an exclusive item and available only for a limited time,
our engineers are working hard to release a fix for the original issue,
and make it so that the bandana is awarded automatically without taking
up a space in your inventory. Additionally, we have escalated the
information you've provided to us
directly to our engineers so they are aware that you have not been able
to receive this bandana as of yet. Once the issue has been resolved,
you'll see an announcement posted in the Release Notes at the URL below:

http://apps.pirates.go.com/pirates/v...easenotes.html

We appreciate your continued patience as we work to resolve this issue,
and hope to see you wearing your exclusive Golden Skull bandana in the
Caribbean soon!

Thank you,

Patricia

Hopefully there is some light at the end of the tunnel, and all of us pirates with full closets will be able to get thier special edition bandana.

In part, I was also on live chat, which they mysteriously failed to email me the log of (perhaps because I told them I intended on sharing it with you all).

The live chat representative started to blow me off with a..

"Sorry you cant get the item, nothing we can do, submit feedback"

Then I mentioned being a moderator at the Pirates Online Forums fansite, and that I would share that with our members.. and he suddenly changed his tune, and started investigating further. hehehe

First time the title did anything for me outside the forums here. ;)

Still actually waiting for a response from thier Tech support, because I filed a bug report, and had it escalated by the live chat guy as well.

Sven Osymthe 11-29-2008 07:42 PM

guess they all have heard about the Drunken Mod named Zeppers

The Skirata Clan 11-29-2008 08:51 PM

that was a great way of saying "it won't be ready, deal with it"

They wont tell me that, ill be on the phone with them in a heartbeat.

Personally I believe it is thier intention to resolve it, more than likely they will somehow edit my pirate and add it manually (since I filed a bug report). The unfortunate problem here is that, that will help noone else. :)

If I dont get the item on my pirate, they will not be liking me one bit, posting lies on thier Grog blog to make everyone think everything is warm and fuzzy. And then just say sorry? Not gonna fly.

They will continue to get all thier steps in resolving this posted publicly for all to see here on the forums.

Sorry doesnt cut it. I refuse to be left out/punished for being a dedicated paying player.

If it does not get resolved, I will be demanding refunds or in the least a months credit for having waited for this event, and them not providing it as advertised. They do have some responsibilities, they cant just say stuff and not mean it.

I agree with you Zep. They won't tell that to the Drunken Mod anyway lol. They also do have responsibilities that they need to do. Why tell us something that turns out to be a lie??

The Skirata Clan 11-29-2008 09:24 PM

lets just say i hope that i am wrong.

Jade McKidd 11-29-2008 09:48 PM

I totally agree, it's not right to promise something and then just say oh well, it's not going to happen. I sold all my stuff, and 2 of my quest hats to make room for that bandana, silly me since I could have written to them and complained, thx Zep for showing us the way to getting things that are promised to us without resorting to selling practically everything in inventory!

Chris 11-29-2008 10:29 PM

Im hoping disney will pull through and im glad i havent sold any of my hats :)

davy redflint 11-30-2008 12:04 AM

at least u got a answer lol.........i just a thank for ur input type msg. .......to late sold all me hat to get the bandana for all 4 pirates ....

but i did find away to get it without sellin ur hat.........put ur hats in the sell box ... but dont complete the sell then add the ne w bandana and wear it ....then cancell the sellin part..... u will still have ur hats. only draw back if u change wearin the bandana to one in ur inventory u will lose the bandana.

Dr. Zeppers 12-03-2008 02:37 AM

The simplist fix here is to increase the size of the closet. I have 5 on a pirate, I know the system handles more than 4.

I can think of a few ways to 'help' resolve the problem without that however.

1. Make all special edition items similar to quest items, go in your closet regardless (and do NOT count against your inventory).
2. Allow us to sell 'starter' items that were optional in the first place (ie hat, coat, belt, vest)

I spoke with customer service today, they had volumes of complaints on this issue. Thier developers are working on a solution they still say. They would not say...
A. When a solution would be available.
B. What they would 'do' as a solution.

I told them I would keep you all informed. Its funny that everytime I mention that they backup and ask me a few more questions to make sure they've done all they could..

League 12-03-2008 04:22 AM

The ought to make it available at Christmas with some sort of special belt or something (that second item'd be for Christmas). Sorry, nothing to offer here but a suggestion.

I'm glad to hear they got a lot of complaints. I wrote them a couple times and also left a comment in the grog blog about how disappointed i am that it said golden skull bandana would be available until December 7th everytime i signed in, then i went to get it the evening of November 30th and it was no longer available. I hope i will still have a chance to get it. I also let them know how lame it is that i'd have to sell a quest items to make room for the free bandana. I would think expanding the closets to hold 10 articles of each clothing would be an easy upgrade, and something that would make a lot of people happy.

I'm surprised considering that person had no idea weather or not you were really telling the truth. A person like that shouldn't believe who the person they're chatting with is the person they say they are.

As far as Disney devs fixing that issue before it's gone, I doubt that will happen.

Kitfisto 12-05-2008 11:15 PM

At least they're trying to fix it. Had to delete the Truehound Bandanna and the Calcutter hat. Didn't like the Truehound one anyway, and I've still got my Barbossa which looks like the Calcutter.

Dr. Zeppers 12-07-2008 08:03 AM

Ok me fellow pirates.. the latest update on the bandana/full closet situation....

Latest response:
-----------------------------------

Thank you for your recent message. We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve the issue with obtaining the Gold Skull Bandana.

We originally messaged in the Grog Blog that you would not have to delete any items from your inventory to get the Gold Skull Bandana - this was not the case, as players did have to delete items from their inventory to get the Bandana.

There was also an issue with the times the item would be available - the message on the website was correct, while the in-game message was not, the item was only available during days of the Founders Feast 11/27 - 11/30. We will make the Bandana available again in the very near future and have forwarded the information you've provided to our engineers.

We apologize for the miscommunication regarding how to collect the item. We are working to improve our inventory system and communication points - remember always check the Current News at www.PiratesOnline.com for the latest information about the game and upcoming items and events.

We appreciate your understanding and support, and hope to see you in the Caribbean again soon!

-----------------------------------

It would appear we are getting some progress. Now what I didnt share in here were the solutions I had included in my bug report. I had basically told them that since the inventory obviously supported more than 4 items that they should open up our inventory a bit and let us have more. I also suggested as an alternative that "Quested" items should not count against inventory, only purchased items. Special Edition items can be distributed a "Quest" items and not effect a pirates "purchased" inventory. That would allow us to quest away, and get these items without it effecting our purchased items/warddrobe (or our max inventory). And finally offered that they should allow us to sell starter items that are 'optional' in the very first place. No you cant sell the articles of clothing that would keep the game 'clean' but this would help us to clear an item or two in some categories of clothing.

League 12-07-2008 10:17 PM

What if they made the quests for the clothing redo-able? That'd be something for one.

I would definately like to see that. I had suggested this awhile back, thinking the reward could perhaps be something from a pool of reserved random items. Allowing for a bit more variety, and keep people interested as they repeat the quests to get all the items.

Tommy Two Times 12-07-2008 10:56 PM

Zep the reason you cannot sell your starter items is due to the Clothing quests, as far as I am aware, are for unlimited only. If you were to decide not to pay your subscription, you default back to the original chothes. A suggestion on this matter is when starting a pirate, only select basic items. for guy pirates all you have to select is pants and a shirt.

I have also been on my own quest with disney about the Privateering prizes from the contest back in September. No one in the Seafury Guild has recieved their prizes for the contest. I called Disney a couple weeks back and was told that they are behind on things and that it would be another 6 to 8 weeks!! There has only been one of us, at this point, who has recieved their Founder Skull as well. These were supposed to have been mailed and recieved by now. Not sure what is going on behind the scenes over there at Disney online, but it appears from this pirate that there is not alot of work going on!

I understand why it doesnt currently let you get rid of your starter items, and it has nothing to do with the clothing quests. Some of these clothing items are optional. These are the ones I propose it should let us sell/get rid of. I wouldnt want it to leave a pirate reverting to basic unclothed of course. The "why" was never in question here, quite frankly that was obvious. Thats why I proposed only allowing us to sell the "optional" items as one possible means of helping to alleviate the inventory issue. We arent talking about how to play the game and make choices. Was trying to come up with ideas for Disney to solve the obvious problem.

Not surprised they are behind.. however i've never heard about a "Founder Skull". I know many founders and this has never been a subject of conversation.
There was a "Cloth map" that was to be shipped to certain members, which as I understand it has already been shipped/recieved by most.

Assuming this is the same thing mentioned, one of my GMs got the skull

Tommy Two Times 12-08-2008 04:25 AM

That is the skull I was referring to. It says "Pirates of the Caribbean one year anniversary" on the base. It is the "special gift" that was mentioned in posts on the POTCO main site building up to the one year anniversary. When I called Disney about them, I was told they were being delivered in bunches instead of sending them all out at once. It was explained that all founders who have paid for the game for the entire year "should" be getting one.

Many people have thought that this was one of the 15 winners prizes for unlimited in October. The founder that got one from our group was not on that winnig list, I doubt that POTCO would consider this a "prize pack"

T2X

Dr. Zeppers 12-08-2008 04:30 AM

Well they mentioned some prizes for founders, etc over this 1 year anniversary.

Never saw anything offering this to all founders.

I would rather they be putting this money into development where its obviously needed.

Sarah 12-08-2008 01:13 PM

Interesting about the skull. I'll have to call and see for myself. Not that I need a skull shaped paperweight...I agree they should be putting in their money and effort into development, not little trinkets for a group of people who, in large, don't play anymore.

Miscommunication?!? More like big fat blunder. "Internal Comminications Error" or not, they should have demonstrated a little good customer service, and kept the bandana available til Dec 7th. IMO. Your mistake Disney, not ours. More people read the little green pop up announcements in game than read the news. Me thinks it would have been good PR to stick to what everyone saw in game.

Ah Well, thanks for the info Zep. Look forward to see what thay have to say next ;)
