How To Get Open Chat!
 

If you were wondering how to get open chat on POTCO, then I have made this guide for you! Here are the two ways:

First way:
1) Logon to your DxD account. (if you dont know what DxD is the link will be at the bottom of the post)
2) Once you log on, click on the button that says Profile above the backpack. http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p...enchatpic1.jpg
3) Once that pops up, click on where it says Profile (This is on the screen that pops up, DO NOT click the same button as #2 :D) http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p...enchatpic2.jpg
4) When the Profile Viewer screen comes up, on the top right corner there should be a button that says My Account, click it. http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p...enchatpic3.jpg
5) Once that screen pops up, click on the Community Settings Tab[/COLOR][/COLOR]
6) Just click on the type of chat you want (it will ask for a E-mail verification, just click Begin Verfication) and your all set!!!

2nd Way:
1) Go to Pirates online website www.piratesonline.com
2) Click on [ Account Services ]

4) Login
5) Click on Community settings tab.

You mean this is a tip for some Open Chat outside of POTCO (not in the game?)

No not in game, on the-- well what used to be called the players channel. I know they changed the title for it, but its under community on the main site for the game. Theres a way to chat on that site I guess if you ever get banned or deleted, etc.

No, this was made to have open chat on the game.

ok now to figure out how to do some chat in the beta/test server lol it didn't work for me

Players page=Players channel, that all is the same as DXD, thanks for posting this Chris! This could really help people who need open chat

Perhaps, however when your talking about DxD, this is DxD related, and not a Pirates specific anything. It covers the all the Disney games, etc.

DxD does not mean Pirates at all to me!

Chat access is in the long run always controlled by the parents, and parental accounts. If your account is not under any such restraints, then you can change your chat access in pirates by logging into your account on Pirates Online website (much easier than trying to navigate DxD).

If you are under parental controls, there is no way for you to circumvent them without your parents granting the changes.

You can activate Open Chat for The Game on DxD :D. thats how i did it.

There is another way to do this which is on the POTCO site.

But remember that Disney recommends to parents that the person using the open chat is 13+ for safety reasons.

Don't worry im 13 or older lol. :D

You click "profile" and then when the screen pops up, click on "Profile" (not the same button) and then click on "My account" and the Tab should be there, unless you have parental controls.

-Right click on one of them, click Properties
-Copy the URL for it

Follow the guide. You may have to add a Parents e-mail if you want it. It would send your parents an e-mail saying something like:
Your child would like open chat bla bla bla, click below if you want your child to have open chat.
Then there would be a button that looked like:
Click here to activate

I can't get it to work for the test pirate all well :( no biggie I guess

Yeah, I have had other people pm me about that problem, It must not work for test players.
If there was a way I wouldn't know because i dont have test. Sorry :(

Ok, here's the deal for me:

I am the parent. When i first downloaded POTCO and went unlimited, i made the account using my 10 year old sons birthdate so of course he was automatically given a restricted chat. When i wanted to play unlimited with open chat i would log in on my adult linked account (basic) and tab over to the unlimited account. Now that we can't use tabbed linked accounts i am forced to log on using the original account (unlimited) and i only have "open chat with unlimited true friends". Which means a lot of words are arrr'd or garr'd, etc.

I've tried changing the settings on POTCO's site under manage account/parental controls by signing in on the parent account, then clicking on my childs name and changing settings from "open chat with unlimited true friends" to "open chat with any disney member" but it won't let me. When i go to "save changes" a window pops up saying "error, try again" and it won't work no matter how many times i try. I've also tried going to disney.go.com/youraccount and signing in on the parent account then clicking on my sons name to change his setting to "open chat with any disney member" but it won't work there either. I get a window that says "you are not authorized to make this change" or something like that.

Customer support has been no help. One customer rep. guy mentioned that the option to actually change this account to "open chat with any disney member" isn't even available yet, that it is coming soon but they don't know when.

This is one of the reasons i am extremely upset about the tabbed linked accounts being taken away.

What is the difference between speed chat plus and open chat? Is open chat like where u can say anything but it wont block out anything?
