I avoid it by not disclosing anything of me. no toontown experience either. :) yea, my conversations on POTCO are basically bland.

By that I mean playing toontown for so long and reading their policies so I know what not to do.

I haven't been suspended on toontown or pirates.(and I think it's going to stay that way)

Why did u get suspended? I also played Toontown. My name was Prof. BooBoo WhistleWoof lol I was a duck. Quit about 2 years ago and was 107 laff point..

I tried to log in today and got a general suspension notice stating that I "violated terms of use". To my knowledge, I have not done anything that could be considered wrong!

Has anyone been suspended for a ridiculous reason? Please let me know because I have no idea whatsoever WHY they would do this to me.

although Id never say anything to anyone I didn't know that was offensive and personally I think its none of their business unless its spoken into the local tab or someone complains about me....which I know is NOT the case.

Yes, it happened to me, and I had no idea what TOS I violated, that is until i went to my email and found a letter there from them and found out that I gave out my yahoo screen name. Geez, I was mad, but now I know better!

If found to be in voiolation, you recieve a 72 hour ban for breaking the POTCO Terms of Agrement.

As always, as it is a childrens rated game E10+, one must be careful in typing in information (and there are enough current posts ongoing discussing this topic in detail around POF so I won't get into the whole Adult/child thing - this is just to answer the question posted :D )

same here, ive been suspended before. Make sure the day before that you didnt do anything wrong or anything, oh and also check your e-mail, they should send you something back for a reason why you got suspended. I remember the subject is Your Disney online account or something like that

I got a warning letter, but never banned/suspended (knock on wood). It had my words from a whisper chat I was doing with one of my friends.

Come to think of it... I would freak out if I got banned/suspended. My character Ella Spizwackle should hit the big 40 some time tonight or tomorrow and if I lost her it would not be a good thing at all!

Yeah, they do monitor conversations. They sent me a warning, but I didn't get banned. It wasn't really bad though so they shouldn't put a hold to my account.

I got suspended for a day with NO explanation, email or anything. Just when I tried to sign on was told I couldn't sign in again until a certain time and had to re-agree to the rules. Talk about withdrawals. :(

Part of the house rules are that they can suspend or even teriminate your account without even telling you. If youre not getting a message, (which you should) there could be a few reasons why:
-Do you have a parental account? if you do, it will be e-malied to your parents the suspension/termination reason
-Make sure you dont have Disney as spam, some people get tired of getting Disney stuff, so they mark it as spam.

Sometimes you get a warning that you are in risk of getting suspended, but it depends how far you take it...
Just think, its a Disney game, so when you talk, act like youre talking to a 6 or 7 year old, cause you never know, they could be 6 or 7

Understand the need for the resrtictions but I wasn't even doing anything that I'm aware of. However a friend that was talking to me did give me some personal info. He ended up with 3 days. Just wish they would have explained why, cause until he came back on I was in the dark. I know this game is geared in part to kids, that's why Im here. (just a kid at heart lol)

Andrew, be prepared...when you call that number, you will be scolded like a two year old. (never had to call myself, but I have friends that have, and they say the voice on the other end can be pretty CONDISCENDING) Breathe deep, and just say "yes, i understand i was naughty, Yes, I DO agree to the tos, and Yes, i will be a good boy from now on" and then of course, be a good boy from now on ;)

I have only been suspended once and I intend to keep it that way because of what Sarah said. I get scared when yelled at and can't think straight lol.

When out guild was max for a long time, daily our members were getting banned.

Main reasons were for giving out out guild site. This a separate site for guild members, and couldn't be listed here. The second reason for a lot of the ban's was members giving out ventrilo info. We were told the guild site was fine, but at that time even the next day another ban for guild site info.

Eventually ventrilo info was put on guild site, and one reason we didn't want it here on these boards, with everyone in the world popping in on vent as a guess.

This game went back and forth for a number of months, and even when some would win their appeal, a day later they would be suspended from something they searched back several months and found.

So, never give out email, and sites and that covers most suspensions I saw. Though now and then a few would pop up with personal info given away.

So convert, make a limited account, go to it and talk, then go back to your unlimited and play for awhile.

Wonder why some people end up solo, just don't get it, lol.

Phone ins heard both ways, were real nice and a real pain both. Just watch what they say, one will say something like listing guild site is fine, while next day your back on the phone, and that guy says its not. If me I think I would record conversations if some of these things are going both ways.

I'm currently under one of those 72 hour bans. Never recieved the usual email that people get with a copy of the chat log explaining the reason for the ban. Over the past week I've made a few statements that were highly critical of the recent changes made to the game as well as game support and player feedback policy being ignored by Disney. Overall moderation policy seems to be very unbalanced in regard to players being arbitrarily banned for minor infractions, while players displaying harrassing or abusive behavior in the game are often let off with a minor warning.

Then request it using the info above your post... they must be able to show the proof of why they are banning you.

Figures...they treat us all like little babies..
Just to let everyone know I did NOT take this suspension lightly....

I finally got through to the point where I was notified that I have to call them to get the account reinstated. The 72 hours are up tomorrow and I will call and find out the reasoning at that time. Here lately it seems that bans are pretty much being handed out arbitrarily often times without justification. Yes I am angry but I'm not gonna say how I really feel about it as that would probably result in a ban here as well.

Well my parents got a hold of Disney...parents are kinda ticked and so am I. They are saying I am using Macro, and all of my friends KNOW FOR A FACT that I dont Macro...im just a teen I dont even know HOW to Macro, this is really unfair. Not sure if theyll even let me play anymore after this...my parents are mad at both Disney and me. While I can now access my account fine, because we have contacted them and my suspension has ended, im just not sure...but IF I do quit playing, you know I will always stay on POF :)

I'm reinstated and finally was able to get a copy of the chatlogs. I was banned for giving out contact info, However according to the chatlog I was not the one in the conversation who gave out contact info. The other party also got a 72 hour suspension. Apparently I was banned for using the word Xfire in the conversation, when asked if I used that IM system and my response was that I hadn't yet installed it. Looks like that was enough to get a ban.

When you play the game for any length of time you naturally meet up with many of the same friends and guildmates. At some point the conversation, at least if you are an adult, moves beyond arrgh and pirates to how was your day and so forth. There needs to be a way for players, especially those in a guild to contact each other outside of the game. I was guilty of giving a guildmate my e-mail address. We had played together for several months when she dissapeared for several weeks. she re-appeared briefly to tell me she was having a problem pregnancy. I asked her to keep in touch. Her, her Husbands pirate, and there son's pirate have all disappeared now for a couple of months. I was guilty of caring for a guildmate! 3 day suspension--stinks!

I have played toontown for five years(almost six) and have never once given out any information.
I have never talked about anything other than the game or something relating to the game.

Why would you want to contact guild members outside of the game? There's no reason and if it's for personal information like email, etc..then that's not a good reason.

Disney is aware of all the dangers on the internet and has zero tolerance for anything other than something relating to pirates/toontown. If you talk about real life then it gets too personal. I have never wanted to talk about personal information in game or out to people on the internet. Why anyone would want to talk about real life in the game is beyond me. Talking about real life(my opinion) is something you can do to people who you know in real llife.

Most people get banned for silly things like giving out information or talking about real life. If that's the cause then maybe speedchat plus was a bad idea.

I personally have several "real life" friends that play POTCO also. I see no reason, since I'm a part of their personal lives and they mine, for us not to be able to discuss matters that are important in our lives.

I agree! never anger the Disney gods. but they do seem somewhat capricious and contrary.

I was banned one time in the past but wasn't given any notice as to why i was banned, and it was certainly nothing truely deserving as i am a respectable player who doesn't go around giving out information they shouldn't, using language they shouldn't etc. But if you ask me Disney need to focus on the people who SHOULD be banned but always don't, or figure out that by linking accounts players can EASILY overcome a ban and access their pirate again for those 72 hours. However i wasn't aware that you could call them and inquire about this ban and possibly get it lifted, we need a way to explain ourselves :) But i never knew Disney also gave out just warnings, i don't want to find out that all the people i've reported for verbal abuse and bullying have just gotten a warning, and some people get banned with NO warning OR explanation.

I was quoted in my post above about people being given warnings. I was referring to cases where I have reported harrassing and verbally abusive players where I've stuck around when the Disney moderaters showed up only to scold them for their actions when their actions did warrant a ban. So yes the moderation policy is very unbalanced in regards to what they punish and what they let slide.

The TOS are rather open-ended and in some instances subject to interpretation. Probably by necessity, as it is easy to "discipline" wayward players. But there should be spelled out a policy. 1st time warning, 2nd time 72 hour suspension, 3rd time...
Disney really aggravated me when I received the automatic suspension. (And why not an appel process to get re-instated?) At present I have not decided whether or not to renew my membership in Pirates, My daughter's membership in toon-town, or our Disneyland season passes. I know they wouldn't miss my few thousand each year, but it is the principal of the thing.

I got banned once and havent gotten banned ever since. The reason for the ban was because of inappropriate language and got the ban and that was like a year ago. I have learned alot from the game and become more friendly. That said, I thank Disney for making the rules very tough, but I disagree in the way they handle them.
Like other games chats I've been on, if I type any unwanted language, there would be a warning message "use appropriate laguage". That would be helpful if Disney Developers integrate that in the game, at least we would know there is a warning and not get a surprise ban.

I believe any foul language is impossible to say unless it's in texting form.
If you are about to say anything(except text form) it will flash red and make it say Arrr.
Disney has never taken the time to stop and think about bad language in text form. They should really work on making that flash red too.

hey um i know how to ge you online now. i contact the Life Support and the Guest Services and they told me to contact this email: [email protected] and when u send in the message type in: Hi, um can you release my account from being suspended, the game is Pirates Online?... so you type that when u send in the message and you type in what is your username and your password so you could unlock your account of being banned. after that you have to wait about 5 - 10 hours to get their reply and it will say there the phone number : ( 866 )- 993-6263, but WARNING: THEY WILL ASK YOU TOO GIVE YOUR PERSONAL INFO. Good Luck of Unlocking your suspended of your account. i just got the email reply today.... i send it yesterday.

Since you already submitted that info, I will just have to wish you the best of luck. That said, you have to be careful in giving out personal information like "password". According to Disney, they won't ask you for password. I dont know if i've been banned os suspeded, but hen i try to play with my first pirate it just closes the window, doesnt say anything, just closes down, have i been banned/suspended? and if so, as i'm not in usa or canada, in fact very far away from there, ringing that number will cost a fortune, what do i do?

I don't think you've been banned/suspended. If you were, you wouldn't be able to get to the screen where your pirates are. That just sounds like a bug.

When you are banned/suspended you never get to the select a pirate screen.
Upon entering your username/password in the launcher, and clicking play it takes you a webpage telling you that you are suspended and gives a number you can call.

ahhh, well ive found out that it's a problem thats occured after the update and they're fixing it, so i just have to wait :(

also me too it looks like its suspended forever because i thought it was going to last 24 hours because it says there 24 hours and after a day of 24 hours its still suspended :(

When you get banned or suspended, they are supposed to send an email telling you why. Maybe you should check that to find out why.

Sorry to hear that Horus. Check your e-mail as Anndeeuhh menitoned above. You should get a reason of why you got suspended, if not, then send them an e-mail and asked for the root cause of your suspended account.

Yeah I feel your pain mate. I had that happen to me when I used another pirate I had named Jimmy Page. (The ironic thing is, that my pirate I have now is named Robert Plant.) Someone did not like what I was talking about. Although they had the wrong idea on what I was trying to say. I said something like this....
"Well I dont like tortuga poker." Then they said, "Me neither." I do not remember what I said but Im sure it has to do with the money they give you for playing poker in tortuga. You know what I mean?

i'v been banned a few time mainly because of smart mouthed people

I have been suspended myself twice once I know I deserved but the second I thought was the worst reasoning I have ever seen. A few of us in the guild were in the catacombs and some rep stealers kept jumping in on us so two of us put a thought bubble up that said "This area reserved for the Stumpy Guild Per Disney". It was the Per Disney that got me booted for 72 hours and that really had me hot for weeks. I meant no harm and didn't direct any disrespect to any other player. Disney's reasoning was they felt putting Per Disney shows favorites and I understand that point but a warning maybe but 72 hrs that was extreme. They have there computer set up to pick up on key words and those words generate a report of the chat log of that player and then it is reviewed to determine if it warrants a suspension.

In this day and age of computer preditors they allow kids to run around on the game asking for a boyfriend and girlfriend with no discipline. I also see people on busy servers call each other idots and loosers and then to see those same players in the days following knowing they received no punishment for those comments, however I assume they are kids because adults usually dont act that way and I do say usually. Disney has its own set of rules that are unfair and need to be reviewed to issue warnings for smaller infractions since the paying members are the ones that support the game and if we didn't pay for it well of course it wouldn't still be running.

Now when I come across a player rep stealing I ask them respectfully to go to another target and if hey persist I continue to ask them to respect me as I am not disrespecting their play and usually they give some snive comment and I then report each one of them. I also report each incident of kids running around asking for dates and disrespectful chat. I only hope Disney will clean those incidents up because this game however on a kids site is played by adults also that want to be able to enjoy themselves without rude kids making it not such a fun experience.

Tobias you wont be banned...the reason I said that is because I usually talk about with mates about other games and never got e-mails regarding bans. Just, be careful though, I also use acronyms in lower case for games just in case. I hope everything is ok.

Oh, they get banned alright. They just misuse and abuse linked/tabbed accounts. When one gets banned, they just move to the next one. It's one of the main reasons that Disney took those away :(

Ya they will still get banned or suspended but now instead of using the tab to go over they will just use another basic account that doesn't even have to be linked and do the same thing.
I still don't see the point of removing the tab.
Just ban the troubled account and all accounts linked to it. Yes it sounds a little harsh but why not make everyone in the house hold suffer and if they all suffer and then maybe the offensive person will get the hint and mellow out and be nice.

You should e-mail them. This is not right. Disney is getting more pathetic as the months go by. You should be furious and let them know this. They have no good reason to ban you. I think the bans may be computerized, as in the people really never see the chat, the computer does it automatically.

I doubt there is any licensing of that song though. In all searchs it comes up with unknown author. Its not much of a song to begin with... not saying I havent been guilty of singing it mind you.. its just not much of a song. Best reason I could come up with would be that that saw it of encouragement of drinking. I know I know the game has rum in it, but seldom speaks of its consumption. Good question, i've never seen anyone get anything like that without being banned.

FWIW, a guildie got banned a few months ago for mentioning rum. We did a big campaign and emailed them because we thought this was about the worst banning idea we had heard (yeah, rum is part f the game), and haven't heard back yet.

Well, I did check. And so far - I'm not suspended. It may have been merely a WARNING. But, still - that's a little uptight.

I did get banned once for referred to a dwarf pirate as a midget. But, I was merely repeating what they said about being an all midget guild. Disney's people did apologize and lift the ban later.

THAT MUST HAVE BEEN WHY YOU GOT BANNED, ELIZA, BECAUSE YOU SAID A NUMBER ( i guess )

I think that this is not Disney's fault as much as it is one of their employees in the moderation department. Something like this recently happened on TTC as well.

It has been my understanding that Disney monitors the chat logs with some software that alerts of certain words, or groupings of words; the alerts are then sent to an actual person(s) who review them then make the final call on the situation. I have a couple theories on this as of late with the random bannings. First, could it be that the actual person has been taken out of the equation, and the monitoring software is fully automated and sends out the bans, and warning messages? Second, could the actual person just be having a bad day, or could it have been farmed out to an over-seas company with people who do not understand "casual" English?

When they put in the new chat system, I have had nothing but issues with private messages not showing up on both ends of the conversation. I also think it is just foolish with the whole numbers thing; we have to communicate with people in game by using numbers (how many enemies to take out). I know Disney does not want to be responsible for any kids being harmed, but this really was not a good way to go about it. Accounts who cant even communicate with people should be on specific servers for them and them alone, because it really confuses things. Possibly setting 5-10 servers as non communication servers would take care of this, limited chat accounts can only join those special servers. Then the rest of the servers would be for people who have full chat capable accounts, just cut out swearing and foul language and be done with it.
