I asked something about the test server, the reply was

Dear Captain Seaford, [it was really my name there but it's a secret :)]

Thank you for contacting Pirates of the Caribbean Online.

Invitations to the Pirates Online Test Server are being chosen at random
based on how long an account has had an active paid subscription, as
well as if it is in good standing with our Moderation department. We are
not currently sending out any additional invites to participate on the
Test server via a waiting list, however we appreciate your interest in
our Test Server and may consider your account in an upcoming batch!

We hope to see you in the Caribbean again soon!

Thank you,

Javier

You're on a waiting list so don't give your hopes up.
There are thousands of other players waiting who have had an account longer than you or not as long as you.

Don't expect an invitation anytime soon.
It's times like these that makes me feel good I was in beta so I got a test account from the start.

EDIT: No you're not even on a waiting list from what I'm reading. Your on a waiting list to get on the waiting list. A waiting list would be waiting for a test account because you got an invite.

Captain Seaford 10-05-2008 06:27 PM

Yeah, well I'm still in doubts though.
BUT...

The test server has only three oceans meaning only about five thousand people can have a test account.(a wild guess)
Only a certain amount of people can have a test account so unless someone quits or they get less feedback they wont be sending out invites anytime soon.
I don't think test is supposed to be for fun but to report bugs to get the new things on open faster.
I believe they can also drop your test account if you never reprot bugs.(At least that's what I hear from having a toontown test account)

Well of course they will, and me, I found a lot of glitches (as you know from my posts in the Bugs page) and still trying to find more.

Mr.LoveLocket 10-05-2008 06:38 PM

hope you get in test

Umm, ther are only two oceans :)

As for invites, the orginal post is correct - its by invite only. There are many who WANT to be on test - but Test is more than just playing the game... Its about testing new features and seeing if current ones are broken (like the Pistol HEX Shot that isnt working at the moment again)...

Then theres the posting of your findings, as there's no sense playing and finding issues unless you report them constantly...

Anyone who gets in test be prepared - unlike live where its just a game - in Test, there some actual work involved :)

Mr.LoveLocket 10-05-2008 09:10 PM

Test=Work :)
and patience its very hard to handle bugs ect.
so you have to be patient and report things quick :)

Really?!
Oh, wow I must have got confused with toontown.
Two!?
Then it has to be less than the amount of members I'm thinking of.
I don't think of test as fun rather than going on to do work so it will be fun on open. I know some people who go on just to say they can go on test and see new things before other people. Test is a privilege not a right.

ToonTown Test also only has two districts, the third, welcome valley, is a part of the other two.
Anyways I'm sure when the need comes to expand test beyond the current capacity they will add more servers.

I think test is fun, but as people are saying it requires a bit of work to report bugs, and patience to deal with them.

Dr. Zeppers 10-05-2008 09:55 PM

That one time I got suspended, thats probably killin my chances..

Darn.. hehe Ill just keep waiting and hope, I get a chance to help find the bugs and get things ready for open. :)

Captain Seaford 10-05-2008 11:12 PM

LOL you guys are weird. Your bringing me hopes down

League 10-05-2008 11:22 PM

Well, if it's any indicator of space, the servers are always quiet... so you may be quite a few invites closer. Anyway, you have alot (and I mean ALOT) of the game to see before you can really get the grasp of it, like the good weapons and what not. Try testing things out on Open first: my first pirate is in essence a Test Pirate.

WAIT, so your saving Javier sent you the SAME thing? Darn, I'm never gonna get on test!

You know how you think people send stuff just to you and make you feel special, well, that bubble popped!

Frostimom 10-08-2008 05:20 AM

FYI...I applied for beta and never got it. When we got the welcome letter from Pirates after signing up my son, I emailed them and said thanks but what I wanted was a Test or Beta...oh well.

My son played Pirates for a bit but it was sooo buggy it did not run good on his computer so we just went on with TT. Every once in awhile he would go play to see how things were progressing.

Maybe six months after it went to open...he got me to come on and help him. Seems we got to playing pretty regularly then and ended up with 3 accounts paid...one for me, one for my son, and one for whoever was here at the time.

One day out of the blue...I got an email that my son's account had been accepted for test....first I was furious...cause I wanted the test account! But I got over it and told him to go check it out.

Guess what? All three accounts were available on test!

Maybe because they were all linked, maybe because we used the same account names/passwords as we had on TT? Who knows?

You just never know...don't lose hope...you may just get on test yet.

Yes and I didnt mean to burst your bubble, we can hope that those that inquire are all thrown into the next selection bin to be drawn from (or however they do it).

Not surprised they have a form letter for it, not uncommon at all.

Was an interesting coincidence that both replies came from Javier. :)

I got the same thing when I asked live chat about test server invites, I already deleted the e-mail, but it was something like: "Test Server invites are given at random for pepole with Unlimited Access and have not broken any policy rules in the past"

So yea, they basically say the same thing to everyone. After the "have not broken policy rules" I was like oh great ill never get it now, ive been banned twice.
Im REALLY starting to regret those 2 suspensions now...

Frostimom 10-08-2008 03:05 PM

Still possible...

The point I was trying to make was...our first account was purchased whenever Pirates first opened. The second two accounts were opened and paid the end of May.

We got test acccounts on all 3 the first of June.

So never say never!

It has been pretty deserted when I have gotten on to try out the new stuff...so maybe they will need some new active people!

I'd sure like to get a Test Account. As it is I will be leveling up my 3rd and 4th pirates over the next month and when that is done I will be quite bored. I'd like to have the opportunity to go on Test to create new pirates and test the updates. At the very least it would keep me busy. I'm not much into chasing down 500 corvettes for a clothing ensemble, but I would like to help make the game better.

Jack Sunskull 10-08-2008 06:14 PM

I too would like a test account, I just wish I knew a year ago they were actually coming out with the game. I would have joined then and not in February when I saw a commercial. I only have 1 master pirate with a few skills left to master and I do not see myself creating others, I find it to be too repetitive and boring.

Hopefully I get an invite to test; if not, no loss I will just carry on my pirating ways on live.

If it makes you feel any better I signed up in January and got invited to the test server last month... so if you have a good record and have been playing for a while you've got just as good of a chance as anyone

There is a big difference between these two statements.

One implicates a matter of current status, "possibly" prior descretions may be not taken into consideration if the individual has shown better restraint (or the circumstances of the situation were not a major issue).

The other is black/white, you made a mistake, you have no chance.

I going to go with what weve seen in our recent emails, and not the latter. It also helps me think I still have a chance despite my 1, 3 day suspension.

Maybe he wants us 2 to join test, LOL. But now I know it just wasnt to me, and my bubble has been popped! Well, I'll just cross my fingers.

From the Grog Blog today - a more detailed answer regarding this question:

Quote:

ADMIN - GM Cayman Trench
Test Server access is sent out via e-mail invitation. We start from our longest standing members (Pirates that have been Unlimited Access since Launch) who have had no account violations, are in good standing, no previous bans or player reports/complaints filed against them. You also must be a current, paid Unlimited Access Member subscriber. Canceling or changing to Basic Access will cancel your Test Server access.

If you meet all of these requirements, congratulations! You either already have Test Server access or are on the waiting list. We do not transfer any Pirates from the Live game over to the Test Server, everyone starts from meager beginnings on Test.

When we have large releases and need help to check out upcoming game updates, we like to message the community. If we are ever in need of recruiting more Pirates for the Test Server cause, we'll let you know and release the next batch of invitations ... so keep a watchful eye on your inbox.

Thanks for your interest!

Are you kidding???? You hurt some obnoxious rep thief's feelings, you're reported and therefore won't be considered for the test servers?

I give up any and all hope that I will ever be invited.

Captain Seaford 10-10-2008 11:04 PM

Wait, so he's saying you have to be unlimited access since you started?

I've never been suspended, and I have no idea whether I've been "reported". I wish there were some way that D would let us know if we've been reported. I would like to be able to get an invite to the Test server, but I don't even know whether I am eligible or not.

Richard SharkBones 10-16-2008 12:27 AM

There is nothing big about the test sever. You bairly find anyone online and
there is only 2 servers online anyway and they are both quiet. Sure
you get to test the new things comming online but its still boring because
you can bairly find anyone else online.
