Lost my members in Crazy Foolz guild.. Searching for them..

I am looking for my members I had in my guild (CRAZY FOOLZ). I guilded a lv 30 pirate named <SNIP, naming names> and thought he is nice I'll make him an officer.. Well he deleted over 30 of my members and he did it to 5 other guilds lastnight. <SNIP, naming names>

I am here to find my members and possibly get new ones. We were all a big family and had lots of fun together. We are a very helpful guild and is nice to everyone. I am lv 40 and a helpful person. Please come join my guild..

And to the lost members.... COME BACK I MISS YA!

Guildmaster MIMI

AdmiralSavvy 10-04-2008 02:34 PM

Good luck with the guild, mate! Sorry about what happened. I've seen that happen I don't even know how many times to other guilds.
And, can you please PM me the name of the person who deleted your members? Sarah removed his name from your post before I can see and I want to know just in case he decides to join Partners in Crime.

Li Wildtimbers 10-04-2008 02:48 PM

good luck in finding ur lost members of ur guild. had that happen to a friend as well.....his guild lost about 50 - 60 members of his guild........that is soooooooo childish of people to do that to others. best of luck mate in finding ur guild.

mm1984 10-04-2008 03:36 PM

Sorry to hear that MIMI, best of luck finding them.

Bartholomew Foulsteel 10-04-2008 03:38 PM

MIMI, sorry to hear that ye got bamboozled.

My recommendations for now:
--Talk to all your officers and see how many people they have on their friends list that ye lost.
--Get on DXD and try to find if yer lost guildies joined a new guild.
--If yer lost guildies used DXD, see if ye can catch them on chat.

My recommendations for the future:
--Friend at least your active guildmates. If they get booted, you can bring them right back.
--Get yerself and yer guildies posting here-same deal as above.
--Build a decent web site. When something like this happens, you can post about it on yer site. Yer guildies check the site and know what happened.

Please PM me the name too, MIMI and let us know if any of the suggestions work. Also, if ye post/PM some of the guildies SNs we might be able to help ye in-game too.

Dr. Zeppers 10-04-2008 04:02 PM

Terrible this happened to ye Mimi.

How did this person become an officer?
Dont they have to be an officer to do this?

Bart's got some excellent suggestions on trying to rebuild things. Best of luck to you.

Unfortunately in a game where duplicate names run rampant its very hard to allow people to "name names". You could very easily end up scrutinizing someone that is quite undeserving by doing so.

Be careful who you make an officer in your guild. New member asked to be an officer once.. NO They ask again, NO. They ask a 3rd time THEY get removed from the guild. A general rule of thumb is that anyone that is asking for power doesnt likely deserve it. Grant to those that deserve it, and have already proven to be dedicated guild members.

And someone should appropriately report this individual should they come across them again..

League 10-04-2008 04:41 PM

Can you report a person for that, or do you need them to be in front of you?

Dr. Zeppers 10-04-2008 04:44 PM

If they are on your guild list, friend list, crew list, or in front of you.. you can still report them.
You cannot file a report simply based on a name because they are too easily duplicated in the game. (part of why 'naming names' just doesnt work)

The Skirata Clan 10-04-2008 11:28 PM

you should post the name of such pirate, that way others can be aware of such person...

MIMI 10-04-2008 11:48 PM

arrrrr

You can also report them by going to the potc site and go to community and then
players page... If you know the pirates name, search them and look at their profile. There is a report button you can click on.

I have found 3 of my members so far but will have to live in abassa on tortuga probably to find the rest of em.

No, you should not. naming names is against POF policy. Please re-check your user agreement for further information.

Back to topic...

*Buzz* Wrong Answer! Obviously you need to read the POF Rules and Policies Guidelines...

As much as I and many others here sympathize with Mimi, adn the person who did this deservers a kick in the behind... the POF Policy clearly states that Naming Names in a bad tone is not allowed (and we would have to edit again / send warnings to repeat offenders as such).

Mimi - Bart's got it right... try his suggestions and best of luck :)

Also, as an add-on: though guilds don't really need all members on their friends lists, each member should try to keep 5-7 different members each on so like a 'emergency call back list' you can at least find one person who on their list has another person... and so on and so on... :)

I didn't see Grizzly's suggestions--did they get removed?

Maximvs 10-05-2008 12:39 AM

My bad Bart - they were you suggetions I was trying to quote and I fixed my previous post (having too many tabs open reviewing too many posts at once - I tend to mess up the names sometimes :D)

Mr.LoveLocket 10-05-2008 12:47 AM

aww gl getting a guild back :o

Bartholomew Foulsteel 10-05-2008 12:49 AM

Ahhhh... I seriously thought maybe there were some other suggestions I had not seen that had been removed. Since this is a problem that has happened to other guilds, and potentially could happen to any guild still, I am very interested in this thread!

MIMI, I am very sorry this happened to you, but if I may pull a ray of light from your gloom, it would be a better awareness of this threat for the rest of us. Thanks for posting and letting us know.

Good luck to ye, mate--and let us know if there's anything else we can do.

Agreed... a player doing such a stunt = *beep*. All guilds should always be careful on promoting officers (and have Websites and Rules including covering Officer promotions)...

Mimi - as Bart mentions if you need assistance just drop a line and we'll see what we can do :)

The Skirata Clan 10-05-2008 05:51 AM

i know those rules and sorry... however how can anyone with a guild prevent anybody from doing such an act. if it has happened before to someone before this case, most likely it will happen to someone else later on... just saying...

lostinthelab 10-05-2008 10:25 AM

That is just so wrong. I'm sorry to hear that some scoundrel did that to you and your guild Mimi. Best of luck finding your guild again.

Bartholomew Foulsteel 10-05-2008 12:51 PM

How to prevent--don't know if ye can actually prevent it. A disgruntled officer could do the same thing without any malice aforethought. However, be prepared:

First, nobody becomes an Officer by asking. Yer gonna have to put in time, mates! Once it's an investment, yer less likely to want to grief. Also, by taking time to become an officer, we'll see if ye actually have what it takes (hopefully). Thirdly, perhaps a griefer can actually begin enjoying the game and change his ways--just by trying to stay in the Guild.

But ye can prepare for when a Griefer strikes. Check my posts above.

Maximvs 10-05-2008 04:35 PM

Just to continue with Barts post above:

This is why Guilds who have been around for some time do not promote officers right away - and NEVER promote officers who ask to become officers! :D

ASKING to become an officer in a guild put a big target on you saying 'Im power hungry'...

Hard work and actions of a player over a period of time (each guild has their own guage for what this time should be - but can be days, weeks or even months) those who work hard in the game helping others, are fairly consistant in being in the game (real life DOES come first, but ones a month usually doen't cut a good officer), and try to become well informed about the game (locations of items, understand good weapon usage, quest assistance) make good officers...

Players may also become trouble later (you always hope everyone gets along - but its not always possible) and Guilds must have a good groundwork to deal with these issues as well).

Finally, the Guild must be run by a Good GM (or if run by a GM Group - a stong GM Leadership) to make the hard decisions when it comes to problems - as unfortunately things like this happen and decisions have to be made.

Here are a couple of poss on Guild Creation (One by Bart himself above :D )
So you Want To Start A Guild
Crews And Guilds

Dr. Zeppers 10-05-2008 05:25 PM

I sincerely hope the best, and im happy to hear youve recovered some members.
The talk of the individuals name, and using it to report concerns me however.

I have found 3 of my members so far but will have to live in abassa on tortuga probably to find the rest of em.

The only problem with this is that each time I have gone to this list, there are 3-12 of each pirate name. Back to my statement about the pirates names not being a solid enough piece of information to even consider as a means of identifying them. The last time I used it to look for a friend, found duplicate names, and found out later that none of THEM were him!

Ive come across pirates with identical names to my friends.. started talking to them before realizing it wasnt them. Unless you have a somewhat unique pirate name like "Zeppers" or "OFx Zeppers".. lol yea you'll find me im sure, and not likely any dupes of those hehe.

I cannot emphasize enough the fact that 'names' are just not sufficient people.
You'll end up scrutinizing someone that is completely innocent. You will be fair, but someone else will give them a hard time using poor judgement (ie the name will be enough). Perhaps having a very common name in RL (which I cannot repeat here) helps me to realize this. My family has been turned down credit before because of the mistakes some other family with the same name made.

What is wrong with some peeps? This is a GAME!!!! People join POTCO to enjoy themselves...not deal with drama! Shame on those who are trying to turn a good thing bad...and I am very sorry for the guilds that have had to endure this disaster

Agreed. Like I said before in this thread, I've seen this happen I don't know how many times to other guilds and I think that the people who would do such a thing are lower than pond scum.

One of the guilds that got destroyed because of rouge Officers was Erich Uchiha (Partners in Crime Party Officer's) guild, I forgot the name of it though. Before he joined PIC, he used to run a guild and there was this one kid who Erich thought would be a good Officer, so he promoted him, and a month later, this Officer ejected all the members. Erich knew it was him because the only other Officer was Erich's RL friend, so it couldn't have been him. So the next day, he went to Abassa to look for the rouge and asked him why he ejected everyone and he said, "Because I felt like it."

So you see, like Max and Bart stated eariler, you have to be careful about who you promote, because a good guild isn't only judged on the Guildmaster---the Officers prove a lot as well. They are in a lead position and there for, they are expected by the good GM to help lead the guild and represent it in the best way possible.

If you're inviting people into your guild and they ask to be promoted 2 seconds later, and I'm being honest when I say this: They're either looking to destroy your guild, or they just want the power to boss others around. A good Guildmaster will never promote anyone that asks for power because they don't know what it means to be an Officer in your guild.

If any other GMs are reading this, I recommend that you take into consideration that there will always be people who would want to cause trouble for other guilds either out of revenge, or for amusement, or any other reason. Like Bart said before, I would establish a guild site and urge the members/officers to join POF or any other site so that if anything like that happens, they can always reassemble.

What I'm about to say has happened to PIC and I just want to give everyone a head's up about this: If anyone makes another pirate and treats to eject all your members because they say that they have an Officer pirate in your guild and you don't know who...Demote everyone other than your most trusted, otherwise demote EVERYONE! Risks like that aren't worth taking and although it may be Heck for a few days, it all will resolve in the end if you're a serious GM enough to keep a close enough eye on all the suspects, and eventually, EJECT the one (s) who you think are the one (s) behind all the mayhem. And yes, this happened to PIC a long time ago in the summer and we DID find out who was treatening. (Good thing he didn't eject any members.) :)

League 10-05-2008 10:44 PM

Oh, I did propose an idea about a lock option: that'd be the way to keep a member a member without forcing yourself to promote them. Check my guild controls thread.

Kate Bridgesteel 10-16-2008 03:21 PM

This has happened to my guild twice now! Im ready to kick out GM's pirate tush!
We have a rule in our guild ..in order to become an officer you must pass 3 officers tests (given by other officers in the guild) If you pass...your an officer. Unfortunately our GM decided to do things a little differently lol. I have also started (as Co-GM) that you must be in guild at least 2 weeks before being able to take the officer tests.

I hope you find all your members...I know what your going through!
