LOL Do we even use vent anymore?...LOL I guess we should. But, Since Lib, Misty, G, Johnny, and a few others started to play WoW I never get on anymore. Especially since Rage has a landline now.

What do you guys think about us setting up our OWN vent server? Skulley and I will be more than happy to set it up IF we ALL use it!!!!

It does add something to the game...especially when sailing.

The free home server version only allows 8 connections (may be plenty).
Might have to rent one if you have more peeps :) Just an FYI.

Hey that reminds me!!!!!!! I did get a headset like a month ago, it's been sitting here on my desk ever since. :D So I'd use vent too... of course, after I got over my bashfulness of talking on a mic again. LOL

What is "vent"

If I may, vent aka ventrilo is a voice over ip communications software/system.

More simply, voice communications. It allows you to actually talk to your friends.

It runs in the background of the game, a separate configurable application.

The software can be found here: www.ventrilo.com You would want the client application.

Connection information for your guilds "vent" server will have to be PM'd to you accordingly...

I get shy talking on vent too! I just think it's kinda strange to be talking to a bunch a people on headsets. Even if they are super nice.

Well, Bella can vouch for me being pretty quiet on vent (at least at first). I listened a lot...took me a bit to learn which voice belonged to which pirate. :tongue8:

I could imagine, I'd be pretty lost myself!

i am in no way shape or form shy and have to bite my lip often during regular wench chat. Being one of the few priviledged men to be in the wenches the last thing i want to do is wear out my welcome with a bad attempt at a joke. Most of the time my humor boders on inappropraite and slighty twisted soooo...adding a mic to the equation may be a lot of fun...or not!

So, i'd be willing to try if you all are up for it.

As far as I'm concerned, the more, the merrier!

I did turn the game sounds down when I got on vent initially, just because I wasn't sure how much background noise the microphone would pick up, but once you get the settings balanced it seems to work very well.

And I wouldn't worry too much about your sense of humor - I'd say we're all a lot less edited than when we type. But really, vent makes things like sailing so much easier (not to mention, sinking hurts a lot less when you're laughing really hard). ;)

i'm all vented up. got to speak with piper last night while testing. nice to put a voice with the wench. then remembered i had to disasemble my computer because a contractor is here today fixing a door and wall that my mother in law hit with our car. don't ask.

Well, you're seeing me a few months down the line. When I first got on, I'd only been in the guild for a week or two, and there were quite a few people on who'd known each other for ages...and I didn't know any of them... It can be so much fun though. I've never had as much fun sinking as I did while listening to Kat the other night. LoL

What times might be best be able to catch a few wenchs on the ventrilo?
Zepperia Pof is progressing well, in her current "Zeppers Wenchs" guild, lol.

Trying to make sure she wont be defenseless if I hang with the wenchs some night :)

LOL Well our next wench night is on this coming Saturday (unless Bella changed that) so that'd be a good night ya could hang with us. ;) lol

If ya do, hope ya hung on to your light sloop... bunch of the girls like to race. Don't worry about being defenseless... if they do any sloop racing I'll have to bring on Rachel... in which case she's only a LV5 and likely to stay low for a long time. (Although, I do have her on now working on her baby weapons. lol)

Usually around 9:30ish EST is when there's usually a few wenches on at the same time that they'll jump on Vent. Usually its Bella and Piper that'll all but drag me on vent with them. lol

Kicking and screaming, right? ;)


We were pretty quiet last night though; Bella and I were both leveling. It's usually when we start sailing together that things get a little crazy... :D

Misty is one of the old wenches that is now MIA. I believe she left us for WOW, but I'm not 100% sure of that, most of those people listed did though.

I know I for one don't know who you are, but if your profile is correct it says your age is 12. Our Guild and Vent chats are not kid friendly, we're all adults and enjoy adult conversation. Sorry.

I tell you what: I'll get on KaosS's vent when Bella plays WoW. (It's a matter of principle, after all.)

What about the Wench's own server if Bella sets one up? Cheaper than Bella playing WOW, that game is ridiculously priced, I'm disappointed in Blizzard for that.

I am wondering what the principle is though LOL. Yes I am trying to talk Steve in letting me pay for one. But, it either a vent server or a second Pirate account. Yall know me and starting pirates. So yea that is a really tough choice. But, I am leaning towards a vent server.

I figured by the time I get Bella, Jezz, and Charlie 2, where I want them Steve will be done with Skulley and we can let this one go to basic and activate the secondary one we have.

And just so yall know G and Johnny will also be there for WN. So if everyone shows up who said they were we should have all (but Misty) of the "old" crew AND all of the current crew there!!!!!!

Misty was playing WoW, but she left that, too, without explanation, several weeks ago. Have no clue what happened to her.

Good question. In my case, the principle is simple: I'm not going to hang around anywhere that I'm treated so poorly.

In your case, I'm guessing it's something like my intense dislike of Walmart. It's too big, it's too popular, it's taken over everything and left the "little guys" out in the cold. Or something like this: didn't we have fun on Pirates? Didn't we have some wild plunder parties and some awesome shopping trips? Weren't we all friends? How could you leave just because something newer and shinier comes along?

Or that's my take on the situation, anyway.

Ugh, I hate when people you meet online disappear like that particularly if you've created a decent friendship with them. (Not that I knew Misty, not sure if I ever met her... just saying in general.)

Well will you Vent if we set up our own server just for us? Steve (Skulley for those who havent figured it out) and I are seriously discussing paying fr a small 15 slot server. I think that will be enough to make sure all the Wenches can hop on at one time.

IDK If I will be on POTC tonight. It is Steve's birthday. So if we miss yall tonight I WILL see/talk to all of you tomorrow night for WN.

There is a good chance I won't be on tonight either... Since we were broke last weekend I wasn't able to do anything exciting for Guy's birthday. However, we're still broke but I've been stewing up a special night for him it just depended on his work schedule. Secretly, I am hoping to sneek on to take a peek at the new update. hehe I'm hopelessly addicted...

I'm also finally getting my commuting vehicle back from the body shop tonight. They've had it all week and now my Mustang is upset with me... I've never had her this filthy. :( But bad things travel in threes as we've found out... first I got hit, the following week my dad did, and now this week my mom did. October isn't being very nice to my family and our vehicles!

I used to talk on Vent with the Wenches; I have no problem with Vent. It's the company I'm avoiding.

I don't think a Vent server is very expensive, either. Johnny had one set up for our guild for a while, seems like it was around $5 a month. The cost depends on how many people you have.

LOL I'm a bit shy myself with anyone but their working on me...

I'm so glad we got everyone on vent last night! Though we did have some technical difficulties so a couple of you weren't able to talk, at least you could hear all our [uncensored] babbling (take that, Big D!). :D

LOL Yeah, although it got pretty nasty when ya had like 5 or more people talking at once. Then the sound was messing with me... musta been people adjusting mic placements or something... one minute they'd be nice and clear... next to quiet... crank up their volume and the next time they spoke Guy could hear them over the TV (I had headphones on mind you).

The thing with that was we had all 17 of us in one channel. I figured as time went on and more people uses vent well use the different channels I set up. There are only a couple for now. There is the mail lobby, the mess hall, and the two Ship channels.

BTW I am closing this thread and posting a sticky for OUR new vent LOL.
