So...I don't get any credit...

It looks like Disney took my idea...almost EXACTLY...well, actually...yes, EXACTLY. Reassignment of points for a fee.

And I don't get any credit for it...and I'm no longer a member because of the bad connection.

Stormhawk 09-25-2008 11:06 PM

Did you submit the idea to them or something?:)

Chris 09-25-2008 11:08 PM

Ok first off offence but i had this EXACT same idea also and so did a lot of other people. No offence but it isnt that hard to come up with reassign points for a fee. HUNDREDS of people had this exact sam idea. There is no way you can claim this idea for yourself.

If you posted this on a PUBLIC FORUM then its PUBLIC meaning anyone who wants to can use the idea unless copyrighted by the law which i doubt it was.

Mr.LoveLocket 09-25-2008 11:09 PM

What you did was a suggestion and i bet 50+ people send it
If i say disney you need to have gold days every week. and they do it who cares
if they don't credit maybe some else suggested

I agree with Chris and Mr.LoveLocket. Hundreds of people could have submitted the same idea.:)

Dr. Zeppers 09-25-2008 11:37 PM

This was a very common idea/suggestion, it was discussed in detail on these forum several times, and this was not likely the only place.

Be glad your idea was common enough of a request that they addressed it.

I assure you, it was not put in solely on your own request/suggestion.

Captain Seaford 09-26-2008 02:16 AM

Yeah, I suggested that too xD

Swash 09-26-2008 02:18 AM

I suggest a Lot of good things and even if you were the only person to suggest it and they added it they wouldnt give you credit.

Captain Seaford 09-26-2008 02:32 AM

how would u know if u were the only one to suggest it they wouldnt give u credit?

Maximvs 09-26-2008 02:32 AM

In accordance to POTCO Terms of Agreement (doesn't anyone read these things or what?) it says any ideas, suggestions or comments submitted to them become the property of Disney, and that no credit or compensation need / will be awarded...

And besides, I think we ALL suggested this - over a period of many months :D

Dr. Zeppers 09-26-2008 02:45 AM

I was talking to this popcorn vendor outside of the POTC ride at Disneyland about 30 years ago and told him.. ya know.. they oughtta make a movie bout this ride.

Gee.. I got no credit, wheres my lawyer! ;)

Stormhawk 09-26-2008 02:52 AM

You are correct Disney does mention that all suggestions sent in will become their property and no credit will be given.

Honestly i dont see a reason to get credit i mean are they gonna put ~Thanks to Jack Sparrow for submitting this idea? Technically its only idea when disney did most of the work. Coding graphics ect ect.

Jade McKidd 09-26-2008 04:06 AM

LOL, hasn't WOW and many other games out there been doing this same exact thing? Yes, they have, so nothing new to the world of games online. Also, if anything, Disney took the idea from them, and most likely not from us!

Just wanted to make a note on this thread. (I will note that this is from the Toontown Contact us form, but through reading it I would believe this conforms to all Disney owned companies, games, and affiliates.)

Terms and Conditions
While we are always happy to hear from our Guests, it is the long-standing policy of The Walt Disney Company not to accept unsolicited submissions of creative material. This is to avoid any misunderstandings if your ideas are similar to those we have developed independently. We must therefore request that you do not send to us any original creative materials such as screenplays, stories, song lyrics, original artwork, etc.

Any communication or material you do transmit to the Site by electronic mail or otherwise will be treated as non-confidential and non-proprietary. Anything you transmit or post may be used by The Walt Disney Company or its affiliates for any purpose, including, but not limited to, reproduction, disclosure, transmission, publication, broadcast, and posting.

Furthermore, The Walt Disney Company is free to use any ideas, concepts, know-how, or techniques contained in any communication you send to the Site for any purpose whatsoever, including, but not limited to, developing, manufacturing, and marketing products using such information.
This comes down in a summary to say that while Disney appreciates their guests and members contacting them, they discourage suggestions being sent to them about future releases for anything owned by The Walt Disney Company. The reason behind this would be for the case going on here, in which once the submission is sent it becomes property of Disney and they can use it without consent or recognition to the creator(s) of the idea.

Why? Who gives an idea for credit? I gave an idea for an improvement for improvement and not credit.

It seems as though you haven't read the terms and conditions.
Submitting ideas to Disney means they will have total control over it and you will not reseive any credit what-so-ever.

If you give them an idea it is now theirs and you'll get nothing.
Although I think they came up with this idea themselves.

If you give, what you give is given anyway, so what you gave has been given.
