Hex Shot: If it should be maxed and when should you max it?
I just hit level 10 Pistol and have all of my points saved up minus the one I threw into Take Aim. I'm wondering if it is worth it to max Hex Shot right away in order to drain those voodoo users I read were an easy way to gain weapon rep. Is Hex Shot worth it to max? Is it a great asset in both PvP and PvE? Does just 12 point in it suffice?

i put 3 into hex it clears up alot of voodoo :)

Worth to max? No.
Rank three is the farthest I'd go. I have only ever needed three hex shots to get of voodoo from one enemy. I'm guessing rank three means only one shot. So rank three is the farthest I'd go. |
Ive got one point in HexShot, works fine. Mainly used to drain voodoo from the types that use it. (I do not PvP)

Yes definatly unlock it it helps alot when you get higher leveled with gypsy's and molusk and brinescums.
However no i would not put 5 points on it i have 2 points and i can take out all of a molusks voodoo in 3 to 5 shots. |
only put 2 there seem to be enough

I'm with everyone else, even two might be enough, I have three in it and have mastered pistol. Have looked at hex shot many times and thought " I put three in that why ?".

Me too. I have one point in it and it works just fine taking voodoo out of enemys.:)

I don't think it is, mine is rank...2 and it works fine.

Most gypsies for my 15 pistol at 28 at equal level gypsies take 3. Level 24 and down take 2.
I'd do 5 for combat and combat only. 1 is always the worthy investment for leveling purposes, if you don't plan on using all other points elsewhere. |
My hex eater is never above rank 1. I don't PvP (I've heard that rank 5 hex eater is essentially useless there, anyhow.) Rank 1 hex eater will clear out molusks in three shots most of the time.

i also have one slot and would not recommend going above this.I clear pretty much every enemy's voodoo in two shots so after a 2-3 shot cycle i switch to venom and lead,venom and steel or venom or venom and silver if undead.As far as pvp is concerned the its not necessary once again to go above one slot cause their voodoo will be gone quite quick and also dont forget that voodoo recharges quickly so theyll be able to poke or swarm you again within 5-10 seconds.I'd recommend 1 slot only and invest in venom shot instead as well as steel shot or bane which seems to be a favorite pvp people.I actually dont use my hex shot in pvp and i also had planned on designing a 5 slot hex pistol until i realized the voodoo recharge rate of avatars was to quick to warrant 5 whole slots.My best weapon against doll users in pvp is simply a better doll.

I Bane them and run the other way. Get out of their range: then I throw daggers. Or so I plan.

I went ahead and put 5 in hex and have been pretty happy with it. The thought process (yes - thank you, I do think) was to use as few shots as possible to de-voodoo the bad guys. That was to keep me from having to TP back to an ammo store and then sail back out to Tormenta (which gets REALLY old - considering that you have to go to an island other than Cuba for ammo and then TP to Cuba and sail out from there to minimize the time on water)...... whew!
Now, with the larger pouches that need is somewhat mitigated. People who play in Guilds or with friends who are kind enough to act as a totem for you to TP to also minimize the benefit of this. Today - with the near inception of re-assigning skill points - I would recommend putting as much in hex as possible as quickly as possible. Level everything by rendering the casters in Tormenta harmless and then single shot / cut / whatever your weaker weapons for maximum points. You can pile up points on molusk and brinescum as is further detailed in some of the leveling guides. Then once you've mastered your weapons you can go back and re-place those points as you see fit. |
Yes. But only do it on enemies who have dolls (like mollusks, witchdoctors, or gypsies.

I'm at a loss as on what to do now. I've been leveling on Stumps for a great while now though, haven't bothered with anything else.

Hex shot doenst work anymore, if you read the release notes, it says it will no longer permanately disable an enemy with a voodoo doll. However, hex doesnt disable an enemy AT ALL anymore, you have to use either asp, or throw dirt, which shatters the enemys attunments

hex eater is UTTERLY USELESS NOW it does little damage and voodoo doesnt do ANYTHING to enemies with voodoo dolls like then what is hex eater for then??
