So there I was on the Colossus Flag all alone........

I figured what the hey, I'd board the Colossus and get some good treasure. I forgot that I was on my lv31 pirate with my weapons all around lv13-16. I get on board and all of the NPC's are lv28. Oh, snap!

So, I get out my doll (lv13) and start the chicken run. No good. Can't attune all of them and I've already gone through a tonic without killing any NPC.

Toggle through weapons and see grenade lv17. I figured again, what the hey, I'm gonna go to jail anyhow, and pull out the boom booms.

I start the backwards fast walk, lobbing when I could and running when I had to. Pretty soon, there is only one NPC left. I take him down and wipe my brow.

Two tonics and approximately 10 minutes after boarding, I get........wait for it.......3 cargo crates!!!!!!! :degen:

But, it was a valuable experience. Next time I won't board the Colossus alone! :laughks2:

lol, takes a big ship to haul the navy's trash.

Sorry you had to work so hard for it!!!!

Way to be a survivor though!!!

Sarah 09-17-2008 05:42 PM

ROFL! Bravo. Well done Rackat!

Evie 09-17-2008 07:17 PM

:laughks2: Well, the gold wasn't good, but at least now you know you can! :)

Elizabeth Love Heart 09-17-2008 07:19 PM

Ok lets look at this backwards. If you died and sink it cost you something like 175 gold to fix right? So in essence you made that :laughks2::laughks2::laughks2:

Good work on taking on and mastering the Navy.

The Colossus is like that... you board one time and its full of L9 Sargents... then the next time ist L33 Navy! Its like WOAH - Doll time! My staff can do up to a L27 surprise (which happens) but once I see the 30's I know I'm in it for the long haul :D

Takes me about 10 minutes to do it with the Doll, doing two or three at a time (I can attune three). After the first two sets drop though (say 5 total - taking about 6 minutes draining, swarming, poking and the like) - I'll usually switch to sword if theres only three left and try to take them that way (or hurt two really bad - swtch to doll and run again - they fall pretty fast then). The last one is all Bladestorm :)

Three crates... the other bad surprise you get with Colossus after a hard run :P Glad ya made it off though :D

"Live to fight another day I say!" :D

Mr.LoveLocket 09-17-2008 09:40 PM

Well done! You beat some hard fellows
good thing you didnt have to fight those level 37 lol

Captain Seaford 09-17-2008 11:50 PM

Ah man, that blows! One time I boared a kingfisher alone and got 3 royals. ha, they should add a new chest... a... Skeleton Chest or an Old Chest.

MacIronhawk 09-18-2008 01:23 AM

Nice job!
All for three cargo?
Well a pirates life is never fare! :D

icemage 09-18-2008 01:38 AM

I went alone on a lvl 37 ship!!! All lvl 37s i died in like 5 secs after tey saw me. I was only lvl 32 and didn't even bother.

Swash 09-18-2008 01:39 AM

I usually pull the running doll trick on them.

icemage 09-18-2008 01:41 AM

lol when I board i'm always hoping they e lvl 27s or veterans always turns out wrong. When its 27 I can just use the staff easily. Rackat what lvl were you at the time?

League 09-18-2008 02:32 AM

You used grenades... as a last resort!? My my, they're my favorite options, even if they blow away half my skull! Anyway, the weapons were a bit low to tackle a 31 anything, excluding something that is just incredibly slow like a Stump.

The Stink Pot has a rather large area: you'll probably end up stunning yourself. Nut if you put the points into the Grenade skill that reduces stun times, that can be over rather quick, making for a next lob that can hit your opponents without hitting you. The flame grenade has a smaller area, but does damage over time, working decently well. Smoke won't hurt you, so that is an option. All in all, they can be some of the best options you have.

My staff was only lv9 at the time, so that wasn't an option. Until this incident I had not considered grenades a good weapon upon boarding a flag. I may just try it again to see how well I do. :laughks2:

I'll post when I get home. We can hook up and go find the Colossus off Outcast. :D

I don't think it would work on the smaller flag's, but it probably would on the War Frigate and War Galleon flag's.

But, I will have full tonics when I try it again!

Congrats on taking on the "Big C" by yourself...too bad about the 3 cargo...but I'm guessing all that cotton on the seas has to do with all the new clothes in the tailor shops, lol...

Tis weird though how the whole drop system works...I too have taken on a KF to get 3 royals, yet on the harder flags you either do or don't...same goes for harder ships...I'm out there sinking Juggies and Death Omens by myself just to get...

*wait for it*

yep, you guessed it...more cotton cargo crates...while at the same time I can sink a Phantom and get a royal or 2...even the little galleons and frigates have at times given out more then their big brother counterparts lately...

" I wash my hands of this weirdness..." :jack-sparrow2:

I've found that usually right after the lvl 9's, the next time it spawns, it's usually lvl 30+. I've been stuck on it 3x where all the dudes were lvl 37's. I was like lvl 33 or so & whole crew died twice, only one time did we win coz half the crew were lvl 40s & everyone was either withering or flamming skull like crazy lol.

If you end up liking grenades, I'd recommend saving your points to max out siege charge LOL...
