Dread Scorpion?
 

Has anyone seen one of these? I think I've looked about everywhere. I'm starting to wonder if they don't actually exist yet. Also, has anyone actually completed the Rougues task from Elizabeth? Capturing Luther and all that.

There is a dread scorpion outside of a cave in the jungle of tortuga. you have to look for him, he will be red and is hard to kill. I have 3 of the rogue paintings so far and have captured luther. good luck

I am not to the Dread Scorpian yet, but I know of one island (I think its Shipwreck or something) that has TONS of larger creatures, Of course I didn't spend much time there due to desire for survival.

As for Luther, I captured him a few patches ago. Don't know if anything has changed since then.

Hmm I haven't had to go after a dread scorpion yet. Which quest/level is this for?

Thanks everyone! I could swear I've been to every cave on Tortuga and Port Royal, I'll go back and recheck today. The dread scorpion is for Nil Offrill (sp?) one of the guys on Jack's crew, it's a bit into it though, after playing blackjack and poker and killing 15giant crabs and running back and forth. It's funny how Notariety doesn't go up hardly at all for completing each quest but the things it takes (fighting) to complete them bring it up a lot.

For Luther, did you have to actually board the ship, or did just finally sinking the right one do the trick? I guess this is like those Toontown tasks where sometimes you get the guy in one of the first couple buildings and sometimes it takes weeks before you finally get him.

all you have to do for luther is sink a navy ship. not sure if its a specific or random ship. if it is specific it may be a navy sloop off the coast of tortuga. that was where I completed teh quest on both my pirates

I just got Luther last night with my new pirate and I got him when my cannon leveled up to 6 as I sunk a navy ship. Also, the dread scorpion is hiding in the jungle to the side of the cave in the jungle. you have to look for him in the bushes. he will be in an area near a bunch of other scorpions. I will try to find out which island if i can and post later. good luck

I found the dread scorpion. You go into the jungle entrance of Pt. Royal that is next to the beach near the dock. If you go all the way in the back toward the cave entrance, the dread scorpion is hiding to the left. good luck

Yep, I just found him there too. Yikes! He's a level 13, 100 damage with one pinch. Took 3 elixers but he still got me. Think I might need to go figure out where to puchase the poison bullets/shots for my pistol. Sure wish I could take my ships' cannons in there

You can buy the bane shot ammo from the gunsmith and other merchant traders.

I've got the bane shots from the store on Port Royal. My last pistol upgrade gave me a green poison shot, but none of the stores/merchants seem to sell it. Supposedly it will freeze the enemy for a longer time. I thought maybe the medicine guy but he didn't have them either.

Did you try the gunsmith on pt royal? he is in a bldg near the little bridge by the big docks

On Padres Del Fuego, there's a Gunsmith. He's waiting outside in the street. As you enter the village, there are several entrances... go through the left-most entrance and he's the first person on the right.

He has a lot of bullets and improved Pistols. I got a double-barrel pistol there.

After Venom shot, the next upgrade is TAKE AIM. Very nifty. It automatically aims for you and improved damage (up to 160 at level 1, up to 200 at level 2). (Shoot Lv2, Lead Shot Lv3, Take Aim Lv 2).

After 2nd Lvl TAKE AIM, there is a passive SHARP SHOOTER skill available. I haven't gotten there yet, but plan to select it after the next level.

(Interestingly, the TAKE AIM feature lessens the impact of having a double-barrel pistol since it takes longer to shoot anyway, but I upgraded anyway. I should have passed on a Bane Shot upgrade, but maybe it opened up Venom shot).

I also need this task again for my new pirate , Meg Blackwood, and I can't kill it alone. If you want to team up, i'll be glad to help. The last time I had to do tihs, I had grenades and that worked really well. I don't have them with this pirate and the pistol isn't strong enough. I had to kill 2 of them last time before the quest updated. good luck.

the scorpion is horrible, i'd be happy to team up with anyone to defeat it. I was relieved when it finally did me in.

I've actually started a new pirate. Between the fact that I couldn't kill the dread and couldn't upgrade my cutlass I decided it was time to retire Bluemorgan. I've found with my new pirate it is much easier to do Jack's crew from top to bottom. I won't get to Nil's problems for a few more quests.

How many crew have you been able to get? I was able to get 1 with my new pirate and then i got stuck on the 2nd crew member where all it says is "complete" when i finish all the tasks.

I've finished the first, Pidgely, skipped the second, Hendry Cutts, because of the bugged chest quest, I'm working on Greer the third one, I'm about half way down June's list of items. I guess if I can't turn it in I'll drop it and go on to the next. If nothing else I will have done everything that is currently possible and upped my skills. I figure since I am now a level 7 and a half or so, 6 cutlass, 5 pistol, by the time I work my way down to the dread scorpion I'll be high enough to kill it. Then again we all may be wiped put by then and I won't have to worry about it.
