Eye Patches?

It just occurred to me that when clothing came out there were no eye patches.
Just give me your opinion...why do you think they didn't release eye patches?

Swash 09-12-2008 12:36 AM

I think they're in the process of it but they're working out the details.

Dr. Zeppers 09-12-2008 01:30 AM

Does seem like something that should be available.

However they should also make it that if you have one on, your aim/fighting ability is diminished (as would be anyone fighting with one eye.. no depth perception).

Very good point!
I think making your pistol or weapons miss more while wearing an eye patch would make it challenging.
Seems like a good idea to me.

we r getting bad, that we want eye patches, maybe u get them from certian enemies that u fight u lose ur eye and get a patch as part of the plunder.

Ah, now thar's an idea mate!

However they may want to put in the "Replace an eye" quest. ;)

I can see it now.. one eyed pirates running about trying to git thar eye back.

Lol.
I think if they do that quest(which I bet they will if we get eye patches, which we will someday soon) then i'm guessing while fighting enemies we'll end up loosing an eye or at least it says it is.
And then of course we need Tia Dalma to make an eye for us by getting eyes from other creatures.
So we can take it out as we pelase making the eye patch something we can where anytime. It would be funny wearing it having an eye.

Dr. Zeppers 09-12-2008 02:53 AM

We could of course be protecting our "Piece 'O eight" being the pirate lords we all are.. eh?

As I believe was in the movie, was it Raghetti that had the wooden eye? (that was Barbossa's Piece 'O eight).

Yep it sure was.
I just hope taht when that happens we get a better eye.
That wooden one wont stay in straight.

davy redflint 09-12-2008 11:17 AM

aye play marble with it, (roll around on deck) or get a fork stuck in it. lol would be a good quest with ramdom colors of eye replacement.

Deadeye_Andy 09-12-2008 02:18 PM

It just hit me. I don't think we see ANYONE in all 3 movies with an eyepatch.......

Unless it was some extra in the background. Guess I'll have to rewatch the movies and see...

I do believe the woman pirate that Jack enlists in the beginning had a patch on trying to be inconspicious (but didnt need it). (we find Jack had apparently taken and lost her ship in that scene)

The pirate whos name escapes me that was holding Barbossa's "piece O eight" (who also releases Calypso because noone else would say the encantation right) is seen in a few scenes with an eye patch (after having giving it back to Barbossa)

Sassy 09-12-2008 07:21 PM

Yeah, I thought about that a while back.. LOL.. And other things they forgot..

they would have to add an eye section is why, and they would have to have more stuff besides that- too much work for two little. i mean would you buy glasses?

Sarah 09-13-2008 10:34 PM

I'd love an eye patch, and there are some that say I really really need glasses when shooting a cannon...:) Wouldn't be too hard for them to set up.

Dr. Zeppers 09-13-2008 10:43 PM

I realized, that the OP was wondering why they didnt put them into the game already.

I would imagine primarily because the necessity, vs the steps to implement didnt warrant it.

As things move on, hopefully we'll get some more neat stuff, like eye patchs.. hehe.

Captain NightWolf 09-14-2008 02:05 AM

Besides an eye patch I'd like to see a parrot for the shoulder...perhaps even a wooden leg for kicks (get it? lol)...

~XxBladeSkullxX~ 09-15-2008 09:50 PM

A pirates not a pirate without his eye patch. <_>

League 09-16-2008 01:49 AM

Eye wear sounds pretty-ditty cool.

Mr.LoveLocket 09-16-2008 01:56 AM

Nice idea!
I would totally use it!

Edward Edgemenace 09-16-2008 04:55 AM

Peg leg, hook hand, eye patch, a parrot, a cutlass sheath and a black triangle hat. Arrrr!

Walker De Plank 09-16-2008 12:44 PM

Eye patches, parrots, a peg leg, and a hook for a hand are all iconic items for pirates. Maybe they could implement quests for these items but I couldn't see how you could go from getting your peg leg to "opps maybe I want me regular leg back" because that would seem rather impossible, lol.

Oh and to the person who suggested some form of eye loss and patch gained from that, there is a common misconception that pirates wore patches because they lost an eye. They actually wore them so they could adjust one of their eyes to see better at night. The eye patch would block the sunlight from one of their eyes and they would just be staring at this black patch all day with said eye. At night, they would take the patch off. From being accustomed to the black of the patch, the pirate would be better able to see with that eye at night. I believe they did this on Mythbusters. Gotta love that show, lol.

Well with some voodoo power and an Urchanfists leg we can make this happen.
:D
If we didn't have voodoo then i guess we'd be stuck that way.
The folks at pirates can make it happen.

You are correct...Mythbusters did do a show on this...

This trick was also used for pilots who had an eye dominance problem...was actually comically shown in the movie Fire Birds with Nicolas Cage and Tommy Lee Jones...

Andrew 09-16-2008 03:38 PM

A fine Idea. It seems like D gets into it too much, they miss the basics of pirates, like eye patches, and parrots, lol

Walker De Plank 09-17-2008 09:28 PM

Correct me if I am wrong but if my memory serves me correct I believe that here is a list of all sterotypical pirate items Disney included or refrained from including in their POtC movies. Mind you I haven't watched them in a while so if anyone wants to correct the list, feel free:

1x Eye Patch (along with 1x Glass Eye)
0x Peg Legs
0x Hooks for Hands
1x Parrot (other pets include 1x Monkey and 1x Dog I believe...in At World's End)

So it seems that eye patches and a pet for your pirate would be consistant with the movie's flavor but I wouldn't see what peg legs and hooks couldn't be just a little added seasoning :).

Also, I totally forgot about the whole "voodoo" reattaching of a leg possibility. Guess it could work if you ever decided that your wodden peg has became a little warped :).

Mr.LoveLocket 09-17-2008 09:54 PM

Hmm you should contact potco about this.
lets see what they say :D

Captain Seaford 09-17-2008 11:48 PM

LOL you guys have great ideas...if your wearing one the eye your wearing it on should be black lol, like a circle.

League 09-18-2008 02:42 AM

The Pets are a cool stereotype, though the parrot was the only real stereotypical pirate pet. Now, he had to do a non-stereotypical role: speaking for a mute man. The monkey, or should I say, Jack, was rather cool, especially on the cannon. The dog fetching those keys was cool as well (just a little parcel of wonder: was that dog supposed to be the same one in all 3 movies!? Because it might possibly have been the same dog left on that pagan island that fetched the thing for Teague, as well as the keys for Jack, which is cool).

Anyway, I don't think PoTC was that typical as regards to pirate themetry.

Oh, and if you wear a eyepatch on the left eye, you should have a black left half of the screen. 'd be quite humorous. The same goes for the right eye and screen.
