There are a few "caps/limitations" placed on free/basic accounts.

Notoriety Level 12 - When you reach notoriety 12, you will no longer receive "notoriety points" other than the small 'treasure' rewards (which will allow you to proceed further but VERY slowly)

Weapon Level 7 - When your weapon reachs level 7 it will no longer reward Weapon points, or Notoriety points.

If you are Notoriety level 5, and your Voodoo doll is level 7, your Voodoo doll will no longer reward points for Weapon, or Notoriety as it has reached its "cap/limitation" for a weapon on a basic account.

Are your targets red/yellow/green or gray? Green and grey give reduced points (as low as zero.)

Either it is a glitch, you're chosing enemies too small, or you reached your level cap. When you say you're at level 5 do you mean voodoo doll level or notoriety?

im killing the yellow ones and im level 5 voodoo and level 9 Notoriety

Me too! I'm lvl 9 notoriety & lvl 5 doll & can't lvl up either! Everything says zero =(

Maybe try getting notoriety by lvling up with a diffrent weapon or from quests.

Then try leveling up the voodoo doll again!:pirate2:

I didn't have this problem with my lvl 36 or lvl 25 name at all. I got my lvl 9 name to lvl 10 today, and still can't continue to lvl up my doll =( still stuck at lvl 5

I am a basic access player and I'm a lv 16, after the free preview weekend, and before it, my voodoo doll was stuck at lv 5. i was a lv 10 or 11. I tried my other weapons and they all worked, but after the free preview weekend, only my gun worked. I upgraded my gun to lv 7 and it wont upgrade anymore, so... I think basic access members can only upgrade their stuff so far.

no i had the same problem, im a free account, but im bout to switch

Ill put it in a more simple way then Zep. When you have Free basic access, you are limited on what you can do, you must purchase Unlimited if you wish to go any further

They added the ability of Basic accounts being able to use the doll back when they implemented the new weapons quests.

I would have to say the OP is having issues with the basic/free account restrictions in some manner.

I have a new guildie who is a free player--he's also getting no exp after lvl 5--I think Big D reduced the weapon lvl max from 7 to 5.

Idk, zeppers is probably right, it's either a glitch or they lowered the max level cap. (I doubt it though)

They havent lowered any max level caps.

When I first suggested that exactly what was level 5 (notoriety or weapon) wasnt established.

Seeing now he says hes Notoriety 9, and doll level 5, I haved no idea unless its the level of enemies hes attacking.

Ok. I think I know what's with Big D. They don't want players to go too far by getting both guys weapons cap to 7. so your first guy can lvl all your weapons to 7. But Big D doesn't want people to prepare by having the second guy able top go to 7 on weapons so they made the second cap to 5. Heres a table...

1st

Cannon-7
sailing-7
Cutlass-7
Pistol-7
Doll-7

Second guy only gets those to 5...

I also think they give little special features for basic people. Because I lvld my first guys weapons long ago and was able to get the stronger versions of weapons. Now they don't let us get them. But we can start right up without having to wait. :)

I just created a second throw-away pirate - it is positively still getting cutlass points AFTER level 5. You need to attack yellow and red enemies, not gray enemies. You can't just automate Hack Slash Cleave and attack level 1 gravediggers...

Actually all the weapons can be leveled beyond 5 except for the doll, the doll is stuck at lvl 5.
