Sadness for me and my family
 

Hi all,

I'm not sure who I knew from the guild before I joined it, so I'm not sure who was aware of what was going on in my family.

A month ago I went to a benefit in Colorado on behalf of my younger brother who was diagnosed a year and half ago with colon cancer. He was 27 years old at the time. The benefit was held by his firefighter coworkers and friends to start up a college fund for Billy's 2 year old daughter, Sydney.

Billy died this morning. He was 29. He is survived by his wife,Janis and his daughter.

He was just an awesome guy.

His funeral is today. It was delayed because he is a firefighter and the Pueblo Fire Department had to have time to coordinate the various departments to provide an official firefighter's funeral.

We aren't able to attend, due to other family needs. My heart is there.

Oh Kelly, I'm so sorry you can't attend. He will know your heart is there. Big hugs Hun. I'll be keeping a candle lit for you today. Love and Light your way.

For you jokers in the crowd.. you would have liked by brother. Him and his co-prankster at the firehouse (they were known as Thing 1 and Thing 2) played jokes on their co-workers...

Such as using pulleys and ropes to lower mannequins onto their sleeping co-workers, or putting chicken boullion cubes in all the station shower heads... or putting leaking IV solution bags under their co-workers pillows and sheets while they were sleeping (making them wonder if they'd wet the bed).

But he was also a tender-hearted guy.. I remember him as a teen with a Nine-inch Nails t-shirt on and pierced ears.. boarding a plane as he was heading back home after visiting me and my family for a summer of fishing in Alaska. He said " I hope I get to sit next to an old person." I asked him why.. he replied " Because they will talk to ya.. old people are grandparents and they don't treat teenagers like they were aliens."

Kelly, the stories you shared with us are beautiful. Thank You. He sounds like an amazing soul, who will be terribly missed. I am happy, however, that you have such wonderful memories of him. There should be more hearts like his on earth, it would be a more beautiful place. Brightest Blessings.
