The video was rad. The ships look pretty enjoyable from the point of view.

Voodoo?

Pirates Voodoo and the Supernatural...

What are these guys thinking, blaspheming against a religion like this?

What would they think if there was a Pirates of the Mediterranian, where your character threw holy water and exorcised evil spirits, and turned water into grog?

WOOT! VOODOO!

Wow, learned some interesting things on the Developer Diary.

Compass voodoo? Ship in your own pocket? Healing magic?

This will be a game to remember :P

Jolber 03-10-2007 05:25 PM

I hope theres something out there to boom with.. that will be fun

Ducky Wucky 03-10-2007 07:29 PM

Well, you always gotta have your "Magic Based" characters in an online game! Sounds great! But I'm gonna start out as a weapon type pirate only, then make a magic only pirate. Then make another of both! :D

jsmall 03-13-2007 05:52 PM

Cool! This Is going to be so cool.

Same here. But let's not think of it that way. It's just a game. :)

Given that most computer games have something which is totally against some religion or other, I'd say no more games for you....

After all PotBS involves looting and pillaging which is against most religions in some form or other.

They'll have to make a boom voodoo doll just for you.

Devin 03-14-2007 10:23 PM

Voodoo isn't the greatest thing for religious people...

I'm sorry, I believe this is already happening ad infinitum. It's been open season on western faiths for decades. What I find intriguing is that a professional voodoo practitioner participated in helping to sculpt the game's magical themes. Clearly the voodoo of a video game is more caricature than historical accuracy. Oh, and would the Pirates of the Mediterranian drink Triple Sec instead of Rum? ;)

Soufriere_hills 03-19-2007 07:17 PM

wow cool!!

BadgerHockey 03-19-2007 08:05 PM

AAHHH! >.<

I'm SO excited to start playing. I want to play right now! :(

It would be so much easier if I didn't like pirates so much . . .

I agree with you 100%. If you don't like these kinds of games, it might be better to stick with Toontown, Webkinz, or Club Penguin. Even VMK has "magic" spells and Neopets has "battles". They are all considered G rated.

I don't know about a pirates game, but there IS a game where you can throw holy water at monsters to burn them up and use the "holy cross" (with Jesus Christ on it) to do some heavy duty damage. That game/series is called Castlevania. Does this seem inappropriate? Maybe to some, but not to me. After all, one would think you would need some help from "God" to take on Dracula and his dark forces.

That's true too.

I think the whole voodoo bit is a mite strange, but as long as they stick to Tia Dalma-ish stuff and don't go out and make it like the way voodoo is today, I'm good.

Yes I hope too they don't go all wild with that voo doo stuff. I'm not wild about that too much.

ScurvyCory 03-23-2007 03:52 AM

I'm not too crazy about them involving voodoo... As long as they don't go too far with it. Like the modern day kind. Since voodoo is totally against my religion.

HaveAMagicalDay 03-23-2007 03:24 PM

Hopefully they dont over do it but ye never know lol.
