Solo Boss Battle?
I stopped playing POTCO a while ago, and the boss battle had been down when I stopped playing. But now that I'm on summer vacation I've decided to start playing again.
Here are my stats: Not: 31 Cutlass: 15 Dagger: 15 Pistol: 15 Doll: 15 Staff: 12 Grenade: 10 Sailing: Mastered (W/ Rank 1 Take Cover) Cannon: 21 I was wondering what do you have to do for the boss? I've only tried it once, and it was just to see what I had to do, so I let them kill me. Would it be possible to beat the boss battle with those stats? Also, what specifically do you have to do? Thanks |
its very possible oly if you have a good crew. There is no way you can solo the boss battle.. you would just crumbl to pieces if you tried it.
|
I can and did finish the soldiers alone. In fact using my doll many of them are yellow to me now (I level 36 with Mastered doll. I used Life drain a few times getting them and I think one tonic)
I can and did finish the 4 ships with most of my ship health in tact. I have 175 fire cannons and used moer than half of them to do it. Its the bridges that get me. I cant steer worth beans yet to avoid their fire at me and you cant shoot lightning and steer at the same time either. Last night with a crew of three we made it to through the second bridge before we sank. Everyone tells me they made it muh harder so when someone says they did it alone. Ask them if it was recent? Even my friends who have finished it multiple times cant pass it right now very easy. |
Yeah the BB is way harder than the original. But as Wheelsim it is easier with a good crew behind. Say 4 or 5 people are plenty.
|
I know some solo'ed the BB before the update. I would think it next to impossible now. If someone does solo it now, they should get a Pirate Master of Masters icon over their head, lol.
:firewrks3: |
I made it to the third set of bridges solo, pre-update.
I had a razor-thin sliver of red in the health bar, and lasted long enough to think to myself "Oh look, that bridge is shooting at me". I haven't hit the final stage of the quest with my current pirate, so haven't tried it post-update yet. |
Ok so I'm familiar with the people you have to beat on the ship, I'm sure with a little luck and some more training I could solo that part.
The four ships part, what do you have to do for that? And same question again with the bridges, what are they? |
Quote:
Basic synapsis of boss battle. Cutscene - 2 navy guys argue Deck of Black Pearl - Fight multiple high level officers for control of pearl Take control of Pearl and start to sail. Cutscene - 4 frigates surround pearl All participants forced to cannons to sink the 4 frigates. Sail pearl towards first set of bridges. First set has two bridges, created by, 3 main structures (left, right, middle). If you do not take them all out, they will continue to fire at you after you pass them. Sail past defeated first bridges, to immediately approach 2nd bridge, take out both sides/structures to pass. Sail past 2nd bridge, take out 3rd bridge, same as 2nd. Sail past 3rd bridge, take out 4th/final bridge similarly. Sail past last bridge. Cutscene - Pearl gets to harbor, and meets Goliath. Defeat Goliath - 18 gun war frigate Congratulations! Bridges tend to use firebrand and will damage you quickly if you in turn dont take them out quickly. You cannot attack a bridge effectively until having passed the previous one (it wont attack you until then either). |
Isnt that the smaller the group the easier the BB is? Well i mean u kinda need 4 in order to take both sides but thats wha people have told me.
|

that's doing it solo, so if i get stronger in a few things i might be able to do it solo...damn |
After you do it once you can go back and do it again correct? So I could get a couple of people to do it with me that have already beat it?
|
Quote:
I've heard lots of theories, but I dont think having more crew will make it harder. Now if you have a full crew, and they arent adequately armed/skilled, thats another story. |
The least we have done it with is 3 people. One to drive and two for cannons. It was a blast.
All three of us belonged to Redrum Forces. Nathaniel Warhawk, Superduperchoochoo and Wildhart. I have to say Nathaniel is a awesome driver. |
Ok so I soloed the deck part with ease, then killed all the attack ships with 75% of my boat health left. And then got past the 1st set with about 25% left, and then took out 2 of the next ones before dieing all solo.
I think if I had 3 more people with me I could do it. |
sounds cool. i cant wait to do the boss battle. (not quite there yet.) sounds hard, though. was it the same thing before the update? just easier? how was it easier? thank you in advance.
|
What would be the best way to get a crew in-game and go and beat this? I've tried the "go with crew" option in a full district and at most I get 2 other people who tend to die on the deck part anyways and I'm stuck alone.
|
hav ur guild mates help u get a crew together
|
I have done it solo a couple times, before the newer update of it becoming harder. So worked up another pirate, to test it out again.
I don't know if this is a new thing they have done to slow people down or something, but things such as blade instinct, barrage, have been reduced in use. Basically, you can put 5 points into this, but only get a small amount of this each time you level in notoriety. So with full stats, you are still reduced in your fire power until you reach level 40, where it appears the stats will be full. With 5 levels to 40 I have well under 100 less damage on bottom end, and more on top end of cannon fire. So this looks like they have made it pretty impossible to do solo until you can get the stats you paid points into, which will be level 40, hopefully. Soldiers are easy, kill them off. Before moving the ship go to all cannons you are going to use, and set canon balls you want to use. Take cover, protection from canon fire may help but hard to use solo. Shoot side forts first, than the middle one. Then go in sideways and you can avoid fire from one of the next set of forts all together. I went full sail at the end before and got away from the goliath, then killed it from a distance. Having more ammo now should make it easier. Going to have to get full stats again to see if it can be done now or not. Lack in cannon fire makes it pretty impossible. May be this character is glitched too, you should have 900-1800 lightning, and 1050-2100 fury for damage. My 35 level character isn't even close to this. If this is what is happening to others I would try to find crews to help you get through this if you are looking to complete it. There are also several good captains that have it down well, if they haven't gone limited like some have I know of. |
Ok I've been trying to do this for a while now but I can never get enough people to go with me. I go to a full district, hit go with a crew, and then after waiting 5 minutes I get one or two other people with me who seem to die right off the bat.
How do I get a crew? I would juse my guild but it's really inactive. |
i did the boss batlle with my friend and i thought it was hard and i was really nervous the whole time and when we beat the Goliath,,, we were like...... "Did we beat it?","Wow". it was fun and cool im looking forward to trying out the Boss Battle for my person:12_1_138:

If you need a crew I have seen many people gather up a good amount of people on the newbie servers. those are the first two listed on you list of servers, that usually are full. Go to Tortuga and ask for help with the boss battle. Try to get some higher level people to help take down stuff fast. Main thing is locating someone to steer with take cover and such that doesn't just run the ship straight into fire and sink ya.
Most usually take people that have at least heavy damage with lightning. Once you get a group together crewed, then hit the crew boss battle. Really haven't seen anyone do it by using the looking for crew option. Most people probably think you just want to go out sailing. |
I have done the BB solo and it is possible. I have posted screenshots on here. You can also see them on my guilds web page under quests. www.maraudersonline.com
I did the boss battle alone back when it was easy and again since the changes have been made. I never completed it with that pirate as I have been using it to train guild members and freinds on how to do 2 person BB's. We do a complete circle around the Goliath shooting broadsides and cannons in the water just to show how easy we could sink it if we want. I make it everytime with 2 person battles and sometimes it takes me twice to do it alone. I have also been using the same pirate to try every different thing I have found on forums along with different ammo and have posted the results on our web page. It is too hard with a full crew doing the BB to find out what really works and what doesn't but being able to do it over and over alone and with one other crew member we have put it all to the test more than once. Any doubts? PM me and I will take you out and show you. |
My only question is how do you do it over and over? Once you beat it, you cant do it again unless someone else invites you on theirs.. and if they beat it then neither can they, and so on. You cant simply do it over and over, especially 'alone'. And starting a new pirate and getting to the BB is not that quickly done. Care to clarify?
|
aye zep, agree with u on this how do u solo over and over. i try it twice before the updates made it to the last bridges both times before sinkin. after the updates once didn't make it then either. lol
|
Read the post it says we don't sink just do laps around the goliath and shoot braodsides and cannons in the water. We all know the Goliath is the easiest part anyway. And Like I said any doubts Private message me an i will tak you out and show you.

As far as any doubts? Its all mind over matter. I dont mind, because it doesnt matter. |
I finished it solo. I started with 3 in the crew and they died right off the bat. Actually one loss internet and the other died, said he lagged and didn't get off any shots.
So I barely made it past the soldiers and used 6 potions and ran alot and that took the longest. Then came the boats. I used up alot of my fury along with grabbing the wheel and using my open fire i think twice, maybe just once, only suffered about 30% damage or so. Then I hit my ship fairly well to avoid the walls shooting until all my special abilities have recovered. I then attacked the first two walls and suffered about 20% more damage. I then used speed to blast through to the end bridge and blasted one side when i got to the end and got through. At this point however I was down to maybe 5% Hull left if that. When the boss ship cam out I hit ramming speed and then I hit full sail I am maxed in Full Sails, ramming speed and Wind catcher. Basically I ran away and survived. not all that glorious but I survived. |
I did the BB solo
I did the Boss Battle solo yesterday (on October 7th, 2008), BEFORE the update which they say will allow people who have completed the Boss Battle to do it repeatedly afterward. It IS possible. I did it. No glitches.
I did it with a powerful voodoo doll to take out all the soldiers. On Cannons (mastered) I have 5 points in the following: SHOOT, RAPID RELOAD, FURY, OPEN FIRE... I have 4 in LIGHTNING. You need at 1 in RAM for the Goliath at the end. Since the limit for ammo is 125, you have to conserve ammo. I did that by using OPEN FIRE to double the power of hits whenever I was not being shot at. On the second and third bridges if you tuck your ship behind the hill on the right hand side, the tower on the right hand side won't shoot at you so you can use OPEN FIRE on it, then patiently wait for OPEN FIRE to replenish. While experimenting, before I recorded the whole thing on video, I discovered the final bridge can see thru mountains and shoot at your ship even if you run with it all the way back to the dock! So!... since it can shoot and hit you through anything and everything, I concluded that running right to it and shooting it point blank would be best. This worked very well. I ran up to it, hit OPEN FIRE, and blasted away, using mostly FURY. By this time I still had about an eighth health left on the Pearl. With the Goliath I hit FULL SAIL for about 3 seconds, then hit RAM then TURNED, hit OPEN FIRE and kept blasting away with FURY. It sank, I won. And yes, I made a video of it since there can't be any witnesses when you do it solo. Sincerely, Jason Trueshot (often find me on Tortuga Beaches on Abassa) Additional Note: When I first did the Boss Battle on my first character, I didn't know anything. The first time I tried it, I tried it solo and died trying to knock out the third leg of the first bridge. I always figured after that, that doing it solo was possible, but it took forever to level up another character, complete the Pearl Quest, then do a lot of experimenting before I set up the video camera, and finished it. Additional additional note: Once they allow everyone to REDO the Boss Battle, and now knowing it's possible, I believe dozens of people will use their high level characters to do the Boss Battle solo. Oh... the notoriety of the character I just did this with is 33. But I had already mastered sailing, cannons and my voodoo doll is at lvl 23. I believe now that I could complete this with a much weaker voodoo doll and weak sailing, but cannons, they have to be maxxed or nearly maxxed to win the BB solo. |
I have been wondering about that, since I have taken like 4 characters solo before. I figured all the tricks out also, and even with using regular cannon balls for the bridges that can't hit ya. With such drastic reduction in cannon to us all, I wouldn't of made that call its possible.
I am going to have to play with open fire more, seems to be only chance to get a little damage out of cannon now. I wonder what the battle ratio is 40 level bb, versus 33 level bb. I know the damage i took with the 40 in there even with 5 points against cannon damage, sitting forever shooting everything now. I supppose this was made better for smaller level characters also? When someone gets it , I am sure we all will just go set our stats to the right thing now that it will be such a simple thing. |
Congratulations, isnear! Can't wait to see your video! The length of time is very significant when I solo - I am jealous of how much free disk space you must have! Is that over a terabyte of video?
Interesting to hear that you chose to use cannons on Goliath. I was chomping at the bit, waiting to have a broadsides (only) battle with Goliath for months. To each his own... I have another level 29 pirate that can't make it past the officers using voodoo doll only. Should have voodoo staff today, so I'll be solo-ing it again soon. Great tip on Open Fire. Many things didn't work once you left helm...broadsides for example. If you fire broadsides and hit ESC, the cannonballs that hit after you hit ESC do no damage (try it in regular sailing.) So it is interesting to hear that OPEN FIRE does not behave the same. Of course, now that OPEN FIRE actually does something, it is good to remember that using it is essential (now.) I am very surprised to hear that you didn't run out of ammo, even though you wasted some on the inert fortifications. Can't wait to see that video. How significant was the video-delay from the recording software? Which were the hardest scenes because of it? Side note: Anyone else notice the Black Pearl missing its masts in the Pearl/Goliath cut-scene right before the Goliath battle? I've set my video setting back up to maximum everything, in anticipation of seeing the sky changes...but one side effect is that the Black Pearl does not seem to render quite fast enough, to look right in that cut-scene with the climactic battle music. |
Can someone please link the main "Solo boss battle" thread?

how to find a black pearl quest
i am not close to finshing the black pearl and one time i found a game and teleported to the black pearl how did i did that i dont know do u know how to find a game
|
Sometimes, since you can play the Black Pearl Boss Battle with a crew, people who have finished it will simply click on nearby players and invite them to join their crew. Then if you are in their crew and they start the "Treasure Map" as it's called, anyone in the crew will be teleported to the battle whether they are finished with the quest or not. (However, it won't automatically finish your quest, you still have to work for it.)

it is possible to solo BB...
there is anorher thread like this and... the person who made that thread thought it was impossible... but somebody showed pics that he soloed it.... so it is possible but it could have been that those pics were old brfore update NOTE:the person i am talking about DID NOT USE the glitch:Hcool: |
I think I noticed something.
With more crew members on the BB, the more damage. The less crew members, the less damage. Is it just me or is this actually true? |
It is quite possible to sail bb solo, I have sailed it myself successfully and know of at least one other person that has as well.
|
The thing is... they go easier on you when its only 1 person... I was in a like 13 group crew and they went hard... Only had like 30% hp left when we finished thanks to us Partners In Crime members and friends from other guilds :)

I'd say we did good, coz I've been in a bb before where the 4 lil frigs made the Pearl go into the redzone already ROFL, not sure how the lil frigs could've done so much damage, but just remember thinking it was weird. |
I have 3 characters that can all take the ship, the first 4 ships and the first set of bridges and I will have 80% or more of ship health left.
I can take the first and second set of bridges downstream and still have a GREEN health line on ship. Just barely GREEN. It is the 4th set of bridges driving me nuts. Does anyone have any good ideas on how to take the 4th and final set of bridges solo? I have tried putting ship on left and right side of river to no avail; I have gone straight through 3rd bridge and turned left and right to no avail; If I go up the middle and turn left and whale on left side with Fury I can sometimes get the left side but never the right side guns? ***** Here Is How I Do It ***** 1. have plenty of tonic on hand 2. pull lvl 15+ Staff with 5 skill points on Wither before you start battle 3. Start Boss battle and pull staff and start whaling away with Staff and slowly turn left 4. When your life line is short RED hit T and run and JUMP up the front stairs and turn and use Staff again and agin. 5. When heading to first 4 ships RUN & Jump to front left gun position and get front left first then back left and then RUN & Jump back to back right side of the ship and get gun by steering wheel and shoot back ship first and then front ship 6. Any good ammo works for the ships with very little difference. Even finely tuned Steel Shot works fine. It should take you no more than 7 shots or salos of shots to sink each ship. 7. As you sink 4th ship switch ammo to Fury or Thunder (I have these 2) and run to steering wheel and turn ship 90 degrees to the right do not raise the sails and just before you run to guns click on Take Cover (I have 5 skill points here) 8. Always shoot left to right so shoot the left and middle bridge guns and then run back to steering wheel and turn Take Cover back on again. 9. Going through the first gate(s) I usually use the left gate under full sail and turn right with Come About. Drop your sail and click on Take Cover and gun should still be on Good Ammo so open up on the LEFT side first!!! Now here is the only gimme you will get the RIGHT side is NOT shooting at you!! Use Steel shot and save the really good stuff. Remember to switch back to Thunder or Fury after steel. 10. 3rd set of bridges (2nd downstream) use full sail and as you pass through turn LEFT and HIT the shore. The screen may be a bit jumpy. Your view may be ONLY the back of the Black Pearl. Turn on Take Cover and grab a Gun and shoot left and then right. This is as far as I can get, but I can get here with a GREEN health line on my ships hull. Barely green. I am NOT an expert on the 4th set of bridges (waaaahhhhh). Now if you can get a ship past here with even a tiny red line of health left YOU CAN WIN THE BATTLE. To win you will outrun the Goliath and DO NOT TRY and FIGHT. Goliath will not be in your radar (compass) so don't stop to look around. To win start sailing towards the mouth of the river ie start of the ocean. A cut scene will come in and as soon as it is over and you are sailing hit Take Cover and then hit RAM Speed (I have 5 skill points on each) and as soon as RAM Speed is over hit Full Sail (I have 5 skill points here also) now when Full Sail is over turn 90 degrees left and look at the Goliath. Enough looking now grab the wheel again and take off into the Caribbean and you have won without fighting the Goliath. Do not get brave and go back and try and fight Goliath unless you have a ton of health. Remember you are all by yourself!! have fun and good luck. Eureka Jack, Big Jack, Admiral Jack |

I do it with lots of different friends and My second solo attempt was a freind and me and he died before he got one soldier. So I contiuned to see how far I could get. Now I think we can do over anyway with new update. Im going to practice until I master alone. Currently I can get to the third set of bridges with out dieing. Im now level 40 too. |
Quote:
Step 1: Get a crew together. (Unsure you can solo with a repeat, since the max # of players you can set it for is 2.) Step 2: Open your sea chest and go to lookouts. (L will open Lookouts) Step 3: Go to Treasure maps. Step 4: Find "Recover The Black Pearl!" Step 4 1/2: (optional) Click the button beside the boss battle, and select min/max # of players.Step 5: Click Recover the Black Pearl, and wait to be teleported to the treasure map. |
I'm going to add to this one as I just did a replay with me and myself on the two computers.
So in a way I did it solo and with a two man crew. lined up cannon on one as I steer into position and hitting take cover. then shoot cannon on one using control key as I move two to cannon and line up. Worked pretty good. I'd say in the end I was somewhere from 5 to 10 % left on hull. I did not get that critical message on the hull. At the end I did use the steer to right and outrun the ship and sink from a distance. I will be trying this more just to make sure it wasn't dumb luck on my end. What a day a free bandana and captured the pearl and turkey for me. |
Ok...You can do the boss battle solo? It won't even let me get on to do the battle without a crew! And I'm a little surprised that I even got there because I'm a level 27. So i'm wondering if I should just keep leveling up so that I will be stronger

Doing the Boss Battle Solo
One of my fully mastered pirates has the BB ready to go, but I don't want to complete it for zero rep.
I have taken him out solo a total of 11 times. ( If I'm bored, it's something fun to do.) My rule has been, if he makes it past the last (fourth) bridge, with at least high red health, it's a win. Then I let the Goliath sink me, so that I don't finish the BB. Out of 11 attempts, I have 'won' the BB 6 times. 5 times, I have sunk at the last bridge. Here is how I do it. Board the Pearl. Staff at the ready, wither, wither, wither. Tonic when your health is low in the red. Wither, wither, wither. If health gets to the red again, quick switch to doll and life drain. Back to staff and wither until the Navy soldiers are gone. Now, go to the aft starboard cannon, the captains gun, and load Fury. Take the wheel and start moving straight toward the bridges. Don't sail all the way to them. Stay back as far as possible to get the ships to come to you. When the cutscene is over and the ships are on their way in, go to the aft starboard cannon. Sink the rear ship first, then the front ship. The two ships on port side will not fire at you while you do this. Use Fury on the first ship, then switch to Thunder for the second. Move to the port side DECK gun and use iron shot to sink the two ships there. Don't try to use the Captains gun here, it can't hit the front ship. They will not fire back, cause you are solo. When the fourth ships sinks, reload Fury before you go back to the wheel. Turn the ship to the left, hit take cover, count to three, hit open fire, then fire one broadside. Run to the rear star cannon and take out the LEFT bridge first. Then the RIGHT bridge. Save the center for last, it doesn't have cannons. When the first bridge is gone, reload Thunder. Back to the wheel, wait til all your skills have recharged. Sail through the RIGHT side gap, turn hard left and repeat the above for the second bridge set. Take cover and open fire before going to the cannon. Left bridge first, then right. From bridge to bridge, alternate between Fury and Thunder. Try to keep at least a few of each for the Goliath. Usually, by now, I'm still pretty well in the green health wise. Wait for everything to recharge, and repeat the entire thing on the third bridge set. Again, LEFT bridge first. If one of the bridges doesn't fire back at you, (Sometimes this happens) make sure to switch to iron shot, don't waste your high power shot on a bridge that isn't shooting back at you. Now, the last bridge set is the hard one. After the third bridge, I am usually in the yellow health, hopefully high in the yellow. (Only once did I get past ALL the bridges and still be in the green.) For the last bridge set, I do the same thing as the previous ones, but I shoot the RIGHT hillside first. It seems to be the one that does the most damage, so destroy it first. Don't forget to use your take cover and open fire before going to the cannon. If you get the last bridge down and don't sink, technically it's a win. If you have yellow or high red health, you can run in the front of Goliath and slug it out from a distance. If you have very low red health, come out of the river, turn hard right, use ramming speed and full sail, and run far out into the ocean, and you will out run the Goliath till they give up. Either way, you win. I don't do either of these, because I want my BB to still be there, so I let the Goliath sink me. One caution, When you sink the four ships, if the wheel won't let you grab it, back away and try again. I have noticed that sometimes you don't get the green circle. If you don't get ahold of the wheel fast, just let the bridges sink you. You won't have a chance anyway. No sense wasting time. |
LOL, I absolutely love how you all post 1 year after the poor guy started the post xD
|
It is not impossible to do it alone. I have couple of acquaitenances who managed it. I didn't fair so well meself, making it to the last set of bridges before being obliterated.
The game does alter the difficulty dependent upon opposition... |

Someone had posted a reply, and there were other things that could be added. New info never hurts. |
The only way is to get to level 40+. Then you should be good. But a boss battle that I have done solo was General Bloodless (plus and bunch of animal bosses but Bloodless was the highest I have done). I'm level 24 and Bloodless seemed to be around the level 9-14.
|
Angel - this thread is actually addressing the final battle to steal The Black Pearl back for Jack Sparrow in which you must fight numerous ships, destroy bridges while taking fire from land-based battlements and finally sink the incredible Navy Goliath. That's commonly referred to as The Boss Battle. It was given that name before the enemy Bosses (like Bloodless) were introduced into the game.
|
Sigh, now the Boss Battle is easy. I prefer the Boss Battle difficulty prior to the update, and THEN when the update happened. It was tough, but it was a great challenge ;)
Anyway, yes, I've soloed the Boss Battle, with my Live Pirate, and my Test pirate, though I only have proof of my Test victory. And now with Lv50 pirates and Lv30 cannons, this will be a major snap. I think the difficulty of this Boss Battle should count as the average level of players on board the Black Pearl. Btw, here's the link to my album of the Test victories: http://www.piratesonlineforums.com/f...hp?albumid=467 Don't be afraid to click the link, it's not gonna bite ya :psmiley35: *Puts a bandage on finger*. |
The Boss Battle on Test is harder now. Since the fact that you take more damage, regardless of your level, and since you don't DEAL out much damage to ships ( but not the fort ), it's harder now :).
The Goliath takes more time to sink. The Sails are hard to damage, as well. |
very possible if you have a good crew! Im Level 38 and defeted it it with a level 35 and 48, i thinnnnk. somethin like that and it was easy peesy!:)
and plus disney has made boss battle 1000330958 times easier that it used to be!(: i remember it used to be impossible. i think they got some complaints! LOL!:D -capliz |
