Ships should be clickable/reportable for bad behavior.

I've already sent this to Disney via their comments form.

I'm in a REALLY FOUL mood this morning because - once again - I'm sailing, minding my own business, when another player's ship begins firing at me. It wasn't a matter of them aiming for an enemy and hitting me by accident. No, because there were NO ENEMIES AROUND! Completely empty seas for "miles.". They were doing this cause they thought it was funny. They were a high enough level to own one of the better quality ships, one step lower then my own galleon. So they had to be unlimited as well. And they and their crew just kept firing at me for no reason.

So I say Disney needs to make it so you can click on a ship and report the captain and crew for bad behavior. On the seas is the only place people can get away wtih harassing other players. So they take advatage of this to fire on peoples' ships and be pains in the you know wheres.

I'm sick of it. This ruins the fun for everyone. So I say make the ships clickable and let the entire crew suffer the price of harassing players on the sea!

You can click on the player that's on the ship and report them. Before doing this though in local chat keep asking them to stop firing at your ship so Disney can see in the chat what you are complaining about. Even say the players name and anyone who may be on board to stop doing this. Also when you ask them to stop make sure you turn the parental plus sign thing on cause if they are kids on parental block they may not be seeing what you are typing. I have found a lot of times when asking kids to stop doing stuff over and over again turns out they weren't getting the message till I turned the plus thing on then they actually listen. Not all though unfortunately.

I tend to do that, click on the player report, & whisper to them not to be so pathetic & there we go.
They tend to either get annoyed, or just quit.

But yes, I do agree, clickable ships would solve all those problems, I completely agree.

I can never get close enough to their ship to click on them. Which is why I want the entire ship clickable. Believe me, I've tried. And I've tried asking them to stop - their response - to hit me repeatedly with broadsides.

Wheelsim 06-28-2008 04:47 PM

Well see its not bad behavior since theyre still playing the game how it should be. Either way youre still going to get hit players ships because thats how some people are but its not considered "bad behavior"

davy redflint 06-28-2008 11:16 PM

agree it the nature of some player to shoot and hack everything, are we going to enjoy the game or spend r time reporting everyone, go to a quiet sever if it bother u that much. then u can have the sea almost to ur self .

Ameila 06-28-2008 11:22 PM

I do dislike when they do that, and it is rather annoying, but I don't think it is reportable.
I just sail away or land if that happens. If they continue to follow you and broadside,
then I consider that possibly reportable. I guess it is better then foul words.
Gotta see the glass half full.. or is it empty...?

I never knew there was a parental plus how do you turn it on? I was talking to a player, who by behavior I would assume was a "kid" and he kept asking me why I wasn't talking to him LOL! maybe this is why! :psmiley35:

It IS bad behavior when they DO IT ON PURPOSE with the intent of HARASSING OTHER PLAYERS. So it NEEDS to be reportable because they are being little twits!

Look just cant go around reporting people for action it just wont work we be pirates in pirate game. they gonna be like that no matter what and let em do it! their paying for the ammo not U. Then again no harm is ever done and maybe U should try it U might like it just shoot back let em have it.. be the pirate U r Be all U can Be

dangerousden 06-29-2008 09:51 AM

Jami. Please take into account that this could have been a stolen ship. I got logged off last night and when this happens, the crew on the ship can use my ship for anything they like until I get back. I trust my guildmates not to do anything silly like this, but if they did and you reported my ship, I would be the one at fault, even though I was not there.

I disagree with reporting a ship for this reason. It is much better to get closer and find out who is firing, or sailing. Then whisper to them, and report them.

Or jump on a cannon and fire a few furies their way. Very satisfying. :)

When the ship V Ship comes out you can challenge their puny vessel to a fight. Watch them run then :D

JamiSings 06-29-2008 12:13 PM

I already said I never can get close enough to click them. They're good at keeping just out of reach. I've tried.

This has happened MORE THEN ONCE. These are people who are purposely seeking to RUIN the fun of others in the game. They just keep firing. It's not accidental, it's on purpose. It's the kind of behavior that would get people blacklisted from most RPGs.

So I stand by what I said, an entire ship and it's crew at the time should be reportable for bad behavior. Period.

benngunn 06-29-2008 02:52 PM

happened to me once, guy was too concerned with my ship he didnt notice the storm reaper behind him, i think you can guess what happened next

thefadedrose 06-29-2008 03:38 PM

It has also happened to me on more than on occasion. I just get on board my ship when I have two ships on either side of me firing away at my ship. I hate sailing the high seas with smoke trailing behind me and just from another player not an enemy ship! And yes it makes me mad but I usually use both broadsides and leave. If they happen to follow I just lead them out towards Padres and sail up the middle of some skellies, broadside them and click on hyperdrive towards Padres! LOL! They kills their moods real quick! LOL!

To report a "ship" it would ultimately have to report all of the individuals on it (no way of singling out the actual offending person). With the random crewing, etc the game has built in, theres no way to guarantee you wont have a crew that misbehaves, or that you wont be joining a ship with questionable motives. Being responsible for other peoples actions when I am not given ultimate control over them (such as in a military situation) is not my idea of fair or fun. No walk the plank function yet!!!

Perhaps they need to make it easier to report a person on a ship, but I dont think making the ships reportable is the answer, maybe allow you to click a ship, get list of crew, pick a crewmate/captain to report, perhaps with an all of the above option. Ships arent rude, people are.

They likely have little means of determining exactly what was taking place upon receiving a report as well. Conversation is logged, however I do not believe the in game activity/actions are. Im sure this is tied to a rude behavior report for example... 'what was being said'. In this situation im guessing there was no verbal interaction, other than your perhaps attempting to ask them to leave ye be.

If this had happened to me, and I have had similar situations occur. I have always been able to 'lose' the ship either by sailing from the area, landing and tp'ing to somewhere else to relaunch, or landing and changing servers before I relaunch. Perhaps I shouldnt have to be the one to 'move' if im not the one being rude, but its a simpler solution, as its going to happen, and they likely dont consider it being rude. Who's to say POTCO will?

League 06-29-2008 07:41 PM

They might not even be that high level, and it might just be the crew of a ship that's annoying, not the sailor. He could've lagged out or something. Regardless, someone is bound to report someone for something minor. It's a lighter thing to touch upon.

davy redflint 06-29-2008 10:24 PM

as i say before enjoy the game, why worry about some one shootin ur ship. or are u the disney police. lol just have fun with it. I seen a lot worst than this in the game.

Jade Macbones 06-30-2008 06:56 AM

benngunn 06-30-2008 07:14 PM

WAIt i have n idea, its crazy but it just might work, how about we, hold your breath, IGNORE THEM

Bilgepump 06-30-2008 08:22 PM

Yeah, ignoring them is your best bet.

If you kick up a big fuss and yell and scream about it, you are feeding the trolls. Just ignore them, and they'll go away.

CrimsonRabbit 06-30-2008 09:50 PM

I only dislike when they shoot fire because it slows my comp's performance. Other than that, i don't really care. Just assume that they're practicing their cannon without the danger of being sunk. I know a lot of people who I've have randomly crewed with could use some practice...

Just let it go. Switch servers. Teleport to some other part of the sea. Stay away from Port Royal. Shoot back. Try to talk to them. etc. etc. etc. Too many people report stupid things.

Maximvs 06-30-2008 11:59 PM

Though I never did it - I think many newbies just don't know. I remember months ago getting my first War Frigate - there weren't many back then and almost every time I launched it and there were Light Sloops they would start firing I think just due to panic :D

I remember another time a conversation in open I just launched it and it was WOAH WE ARE UNDER ATTACK and the other guy said No, thats a War Frigate! So, ever since then - I just pulled away and never fretted about the newbs firing :)
