Ahoy Pirates!

I, SpandexMonkey (Dr.Kumquatt on VMK(F) and Lawrence Barrelspinner on POTCO) would like to formally introduce myself to this populace. Pleased to meet you! :D

I have noticed that there is widespread confusion among how to do a lot of things, and the neither the FAQ or the Wiki are particularly helpful due to the fact that posting screenshots is prohibited. I have noticed that there are several threads asking questions, but they don't answer all my questions, so I decided to start a question thread of my own. My questions are listed below, I have figured out a few of my other questions, so if you have any questions of your own I would be glad to answer them.

- Why is the upgrade button blacked out in the shipbuilders shop? What can I do to get rid of this, and once I do, what kind of things can I do to my ship and how much do they cost?
- Where do you go to buy the level 5 Cutlass? I saw a picture of a blacksmith's shop with the weapon in it on the Wiki but I am not sure which port the shop is in or where in the port it is.
- Is level 15 the highest you can buy weapons/ships for? If there is a place to buy higher level items, where is it?
- How do you board Navy ships? Can you do it without a crew?
- Is there a specific Navy ship where you go to capture Luther in Elizabeth Swan's quest? Does it say Luther above his head? By capture do they mean kill?
- How do you click on other players to get them to join your crew / be friends? All that I can seem to do with my mouse is change the view angle.
- Where do you go to start a guild? How much does it cost? Is it possible yet in beta?
- How do you switch to fullscreen mode? I have gone into the options menu, but it will not let me click the fullscreen button.

upgrade has not been invented yet

Cutlass's and other wespons are avalibe in the wepons shops of many of the villages just start looking around for a sign on a building that has a cutlas on it..

My noterity is lv 5 and i cant get past it so I bet everything is capped right now. since chapter 3 is not even finished. remeber we have a long ways to go before this game is ready at all.

walk to the edge of you ship and hit control to jump into the water then swim near the boarding platform of the navy ship hit control to jump on borad and be prepared to fight

not at that quest so i couldnt tell you

hit the TAB key anytime to turn onyour mouse cursor .. clicking on any player will open sub menu up

from what i read on other forums and game sites the Devs have mentioned that guilds are nowhere ready but i am sure we will hear about it once they are

It appears to me and others that Fullscreen is not ready yet.. i am sure it will be once we have to start paying when the game goes live..

-Another question, what is the limit of number of crews that a captain can command?

-When in a ship, does each person in a crew have a specific job depending their rank?

-Around what level do you become a captain?

-What happends if your ship gets damaged? how do you repair it?

-This isnt really a question but whatever.... is this game really ready for a next month release?

-And dont forget that i dont know much of this game since im not in the beta....yet.

The quest for Luther: I completed that one by battling navy ships until he walked onto my ship and it said quest completed.

Buy a new cutlass or pistol at the Blacksmith's shop. I know the one on Port Royal is one of the first shopkeepers if you enter from the side of the town furthest from the half-ship.

Your ship does incur damage when you battle, when you dock the repairs are subtracted from your bounty.

You probably can't choose full screen mode yet because we need to be able to X out of the game since we have no other way to quit.

I am notoriety Level 6 or 7, I forget, so I don't know what the cap is. The best way that I have found, to make your level go up is to battle the skeletons. As far as the weapons go, I have bought several upgrades, but can't use them- Also I lost my pistol from my inventory, tried to replace it, but can't use the new one. Catching Luther was just a matter of Shooting Navy ships until you find him. To be friends with people or ask them to join your crew, click on the name above their head. Remember that before you click, you have to click the tab key to activate your mouse keys. The only blacksmith I can find is on Tortuga.

Well since almost none of my other questions have been answeared ill throw in some more,

- What are the movement controls in the game? is it the basic W A S D keys? or arrows? ... i reallly prefer the WASD keys for movement.

- And if the movement keys are the arrows, are you allowed to switch them to the W A S D keys?

Not as far as I know. The only time you can shoot another pirate ship is during PVP though. I am sure you could ask someone to help you in chat, but there is nothing official

One.

No, you can step away from cannons and move around. On my Frigate there are more cannons than the amount of crewmembers allowed. If you step away from the wheel, Another crewmember would probably be allowed to drive. At the end of the mission you get graded, but I don't think it has much to do with anything.

-Around what level do you become a captain?

Buy a ship. You can be Captain of whatever you own.

-What happends if your ship gets damaged? how do you repair it?

It automatically repairs it when you dock. It sums up how much booty you have got and then subtracts repair costs from that. The repair costs are generally low, I had to pay 1 gold coin for a 5% repair.

They said it will be released by the end of spring, so probably. The movie is coming out in early May and I guess the game will come out with the final movie. If not, there isn't much time left in spring after the movie because June means Summer. They can release the game pretty much at any time and still add upgrades to it.

I didn't make a custom name, so I don't know. Names haven't been excepted yet so I haven't seen anything very long. Judging by the length of the list names I imagine you should be able to create a long name.

He is in the pub with a light blue door. When you land on the beach, head through the arch and it should be straight ahead, Joshamee Gibbs (SP) is at a table in the room.

You are allowed to use W A S D for movement.

Find Jack at the tavern. Go into the little town area and run straight to the blue door. He's sitting at the bar. If you look around and it doesn't look like a bar, you went thru the wrong blue door (I think there's two in that area). Joshamee Gibbs is at the table behind Jack.

Oops, what i ment to ask was, how many crew members can a captain command. And thanks Spandex for answearing my questions, one final question... hows the game?

You can command as many as your ship is allowed to hold

my Light Sloop has a capacity of 2 players, While my Light Frigate will hold 5 players

You can work together but as far as allies goes - I don't think so.

I think this was answered-depends on the ship.

anyone in the crew can do anything- I was piloting someone else's ship today

don't know

When you dock it repairs itself, but it'll cost you a few gold pieces

Tested tonite

I had 7 people in my group hunting stuff tonite it would not let me add a niinth total person.. so Disney must be keeping up with all other MMO's and making groups no bigger then 8.. oh and an answer to the ally question.. that is what guilds will be made up of tons of players all lead by one guy or a group, like in SWG and WOW and everquest. so with PVP options on one guild could mount op its ships and tajke on antoher guild from antoher island.. i can picture it now think like 20 ships on each side just waiting for someone to click the dang mouse button.,. i can hear the theme music now..

Thanks for answearing all my questions so far, well here are some more for your entertainment.

- Lets say me and my friend are playing the game, hes a captain commanding his own crew and ship, and im also a captain with my own crew and ship, when im doing my mission, is it possible for him to come in and send me some reinforcements? or are the missions loaded into a map that only you and your crew are in for the specific mission?

- How many cannons can the biggest ship have?

- What happens if my ship (if i ever get one) gets completely destroyed and sunk? can i recover it somehow or do i have to buy another one?

- Does each player in a crew actually have an official rank in the game? or is it just imaginary and just put by the captain?

- How does the leveling and powers system work in the game? when do you earn a new power? and what do you do when you level up? do you earn points to make your pirate stronger somehow?

- Are there classes in this game? or "jobs" like Thief, assassin, guardian ect ect?

- Do you have to buy powder for your gun and cannons?

-What is used when a pirate uses his gun? does his "mana" or "stamina" go down?

-What is the difference between teaming up with some people and joining a crew?

- Lets say i join a crew, and then i log off minutes after, when i log in the game again am i still part of the crew or is joining a crew just temporary?

- What do you lose when you die?

thats a good one... Havet tried it yet i can tell u this my buddy in my group (sorry crew gotta get used to the new terms) was in his ship and me in mine and for each ship we sunk we each got credit since we were in the same crew.. its works just same like other MMO's so as long as the 8 of you are toghter helping eachother u get credit for the missions u might have.. i am sur once the game goes live will will have mission people to talk to to get little missions just like the crab killer chic for the 20 gold coins at the beach..

....What difference does it make? and i will get a beta key...i hope. But if those are the rules, well i understand.

I don't think we need to be extreme, it could just be moved to The Helm where only the testers have access.

How do you complate cutlass training? im just at the part where i can cut & slash.

Go to Forums page and scroll down to the bottom to "The Helm". You're supposed to PM a request to one of the mods to be added - for testers only.

Silly policy --which we didn't agree to, btw, they just say it politely in the FAQ-- immensely frustrating and one which, having a beta key, I intend to completely ignore. Anyone with me?
