Ship naming
 

When you purchase a new ship, do use the same name as your other ships, or do you have a different name for each ship you own?

I always have the boats get close names. They also are always birds.

Storm Raven
Storm Eagle

I use Scarlet for all of mine because it's close to my pirate's name.

I have Scarlet Raider and Scarlet Queen. My biggest ship, (which I'm saving up for), will be a war frigate that I will name Scarlet Dragon, for my name and my guild, Dragon's Rage.

Not sure why... heh but I have always given mine the same name.
Maybe I just dont want to have to think about it when buying a ship, I dont know.

But all my ships are named "Shadow Rogue"

I do have one pirate using "Shadow Defender" for his ships instead.

Mine are all the same, Shadow Hawk since my name is Jeena ShadowHawk =]

I have used different names but always has a "last" name of Explorer. . . . I noticed the other day another ship sailing the same ocean I was in that had the same exact name as mine! "Renegade Explorer" It was a different type ship but same name.. . . I guess there isn't any exclusivity with ship names ! ;)

Naming a ship the same as another is bad luck or something...

Although numerous, there are limited combinations of ship names with the current ship name selection tool. So there are likely many duplicate ship names out there.

Who's to say who named thier ship first.. hehe.

I think we should be able to request a "custom name" Like we can for our pirates and guilds. . . . wonder why they don't have that option for our ships?:piratear:

I don't name them the same but they do have common elements...

My main pirate uses "Storm" and my alt uses "Scarlett". For the 2nd half I try to match the name with the type of ship. I would not name a Light Sloop "Storm Titan"

I've named all the ships differently, but they stay the same when I "upgrade" - Ali's light ships were different, but the normal and war were the same - the sloops were both Sea Lion and the galleons were both Red Dragon. I didn't have any frigates before the war one...it's the White Wolf.

Piper's the same deal - she's gone through the three sloops, all named Shadow Runner, and the three galleons, all named Shadow Dragon. Like on Ali, I didn't bother with frigates, but when I get a war one it'll be the Shadow Wolf.

The Dragon and Wolf names for galleons and frigates are sort of givens now... :)

I based my ship name on my favorite sports teams.

War Sloop: White Shark (SJ Sharks)
War Galleon: Silver Raider (Oakland Raiders)
War Frigate: Black Raider (Oakland Raiders)

I named all of mine different, but in the future they will all be either Red Bull or White Wolf.:piratear:

I've used Storm Titan every time, but I'm naming my new ship something else...

All Essie's ships have the same first name...Renegade. My second pirate Sarah's ships are all Vagrant somthing. Third pirate....Green whatever.

I have a frigate named Scallywag Dragon because I thought it sounded funny and a war sloop named Fortune Hunter because I wanted to use it to get more gold.

I'm saving up my gold now for a war frigate cause those things are wicked awesome.

I couldn't even begin to tell you what the names of any of mine are - on open or test. I'm pretty sure a couple of em have Crimson in the name though. I tend to just want to be done with the whole process of buying/name a new ship and hit random name.

Sailing is my least favorite part of the game, perhaps that's why I don't care too much what the ship is called. What a worthless pirate I am, I prefer the cannons over sailing any day.

The option of custom names would be nice but of course, that would have to go through Disney's filtering process and we all know how long it takes for name/guild approvals already. Can you imagine adding custom ship names too?

Black Executioner here - for my Galleon and War Frigate. Ill also be naming my War Galleon the same. ;)

I have one set of repititive stupid names for Dog: the Cutthroat Cutter (War Sloop); the Bountyhunter Hunter (War Galleon, not yet purchased); and the Headhunter Hunter (War Frigate, not yet purchased).

For Artful, I picked names (or have yet to pick names) of a more devilish sort, if you understand them that is: one was the Vagrant Lion, and the other was to be the Star-chaser Dragon. I really like that second name, and it's to be the chief ship of the Charming Thieves.

For the namesake League, I have planned: the Fortune Queen, the Barnacle or something else King, and the something Explorer.

I'm a Disney freak so they have names associated with something Disney.

My current ship is the Sea Sultan in honor of Aladdin. My previous ship was the Black Tritan, in honor of the little mermaid. My War Galleon will have the name Dragon in it in honor of the most powerful force in the universe, Malelicent. :)

Custom name would be great!

i named all my galleons riptide defender
i named all my frigates riptide warrior

I TOTALLY wish we had this, too. If I could, I'd probably name my ship after one of Jack Aubrey's ships in the books by Patrick O'Brian (the Surprise, the Sophie, or even the horrible old Leopard!). Especially for my pirate whose surname is Aubrey-Maturin. :laughks2:

But for right now, I pretty much name them based on the type of ship it is and what that ship's qualities are. So I have the Renegade Queen (Galleon), Storm Cutter (Sloop), and Scarlet Hunter (Light Galleon) for one pirate and Fortune Hunter (Light Frigate), Black Stallion (Light Galleon), and Sea Brig (Light Sloop) for the other. Although I really want the ability to name a Galleon the Sea Slug!

It also seems like there are a lot of Walter Farley fans here, since I have seen more ships called the Black Stallion than anything else!

So my ships are all named Vagrant [purpose] - so the War Frigate is the Executioner because thats what it does... kills everything in sight :) The Raider for my War Galleons does just that... riads and plunders! My Second War Frigates get Sabre because their function is to be backup for my first one and cut through any remaining competition out there :D

I use Green and any thing after Green runner green dancer Ect

All my ship's names are different but they are very similar.

I just give all of my ships random names that look good... :D
