what should be the max notoriety?
... choose which one you think should be the max notoriety =)
300 would be awesome ull have a truckload of health
I like 100...because it's a nice number. :)

i put 100 it would be a good finaly no. i dont want it to be 50 that would be too easy but i dont want 300 bc that would take too long
yea same here i agree with chris
80's a nice number. That way, new players won't get pumbled, slammed, crushed, destroyed, smashed, and inaliated in the PVP matches. (Yay thesaurus!)
anything higher than 40 is impossible once u finish all quests theres nothing left to do
Just grind all weapons. And once you do the pearl quest your maxed at 23, so from 23+ is all weapons anyways. Besides, if its anything like WOW, they would have quests for notoriety reps.
300 sounds about right.
This way I can fight the Kraken with one hand tied behind my back while drinking rum with the other hand, and a nice sharp seashell clutched between the toes of my right foot while the sea turtles drag me about by the other. |
You can't just up the notoriety cap.
Once you master a weapon, you stop gaining rep with it. So if you up the overall notoriety cap without upping the weapon skill cap, eventually you'd hit the point where you couldn't gain rep and your progress would stop, except for quests. I don't think you'd make it very far past 40. So you'd also need to upgrade the weapon skill cap. If you upgrade the weapon skill cap, things start to unravel. You need to add more skills to use up the skill points you get. I think there are enough open attack, skill, and passive slots to give every weapon two or three new ones, but I think there's a limit of 8 skill, 5 attack, and 5 passive skills. It would probably not be trivial to expand that, especially the skills, since you'd have to redo parts of the UI to add a 9 and 0 skill. Or you could just allow people to fill up their existing skill slots, but I really like that you have to decide where you want to put your skills. It adds variety. Or maybe get around that by introducing new weapons, but I think there's a hard limit of 6 weapons in the game engine. It's fairly trivial to add new types of weapons in the existing slots, but a new slot is something else. Again, this means changes to the UI, plus new animations and models. Or allow more than 5 skill points to be allocated in each skill. This would probably take the least work, but the power increase on the weapons has its own problems. So now you've got your uber-buffed level 75 pirate, with skill 50 in all weapons, and every weapon skill has 8 points in it. What are you going to kill? You go to Tormenta and hit Sweep, and all the Urchinfists drop dead. But what'd be the point? They're all grey, and you get 0 rep. And now we come to the real problem. There would need to be high-level content. And there's a lack of that now. It would have to be some pretty serious stuff to give your uber-pirate a challenge, too. Something like a level 80 this or this (with hulls made of PURE AWESOME). And that would probably mean some new and more powerful ship types for you to stand up to them. I'm drooling on my keyboard just thinking about it. And new islands and zones with really high-level mobs in them. So it's not just a notoriety cap. Changing that changes the game balance, and that's really tricky to get right. |
I thought 100 - but I went with 300 anyways :o
Not that I will ever get there considering it takes me long enough as is to level up one level. |
100 for me, unless they revamp reps that will take long enough
its impossible to go past lv 40 so the one that should be picked is 40 all higher are impossible so 40 is technically the only choice because it is the only possible choice therefore nothing higher than 40 is gonna happen
100 seems about right to me but yet it would be difficult to get up there
100 for me too! =) 100 seems to be lucky :)
0 will be kewl
300 for me because youll kick anythings but and the health will be huge and invincible and youll be invincible
You can't put it too high unless you add more high level enemies and new areas and quests. A better idea is with each lvl past 40 you get another weapon point to drop into your weapons skills along with some new islands and enemies
I went with 80, though I think that might be a bit high even. The game dynamics, I don't think could handle that, twice as much as it it is now. As it is, in the 30's you can kill the biggest stuff out there.
So for something from 40 -80 would require complete new critters, and more skill points, basically a entirely new game. Adding a complete new game on top of the lag we have now, don't even want to see the lag with that. |
I don't think there should be a maximum, but if there is it should be somewhere in the 100's place, becuase soon enough, A LOT of us are going to be at 40 notorirey..
This is why I love POTCO, there is simply always, something to do! |
you people dont get it
for those of u saying 300 bc u will be invinsible youre wrong! why? - for YOU to get to noto 300 potco would HAVE to release more enemies levels 41-300 SO the new enemies can still kill so NO you wont be invinsible for those of u saying you cant get past 40 - well obviously its common sense people raise noto cap raise weapon caps make more quests! you cant expect to achieve noto 300 with weapon cap at 25? hello weapon caps would nee to be raised to 50 maybe even 75! and new quests would have to come out giving you more rep |
I actualy do get it.
I see it as, if you set the cap at 100, then we are basically DONE when we hit 100, like it is when we currently hit 40. The logic of selecting 300, is that the game continues longer for that pirate period.. It has nothing to do with being invincible, invisible, or any of the like. Its prolonging the time that a player has before they start over again, and play the same game over again, and again and again. Most games I throw or give away once finished. Im stuck at level 40, and im basically finished other than "replaying" the game. If they dont fix it soon, i'll be leaving, because i've played the game over and over, and I can go no further, whats the point in continued playing? Ok, now if they raise the cap, the higher the raise it, the longer the "lifetime" of a pirate.. PERIOD. Sounds to me like your concerned about the game becoming too HARD due to high level enemies they would have to incorporate. I call this a "Challenge". |

the point. :laughks2: |

If they revamp it so that the lowest level running around on Port Royal are EITC assassins, Urchinfists, and Mollusks, then no. |

I would say 80 myself.
but to bring me back as a playing and paying member, Disney would also have to rethink/re implement the rep and leveling system as well ( we are all familiar with the "milking" of enemies and the whole rep system that forces you to nueter your skill set in order to gain maximum rep. and honestly, i do not relish the thought of not only leveling my overall level, but also individual levels, forcing me to use weapons as ineffective as possible, while grinding them. i can only imagine another 40+ levels of that...no thanks. I went through the whole "replay" the game as a new character ( 2 mastered 40's and i stopped midway on a third..realizing i just didnt wanna do it anymore for the same similar outcome, characters arent wholly unique enough for my tastes) I only did a second because I had some paid time and i wanted to change/try a different allocation of skill points, or choose different skills. as it stands now, i have found a free MMORPG that is deep enough for my tastes, and not WoW deep, as I dont have the time to devote like i did before, new mom here =) one exp bar to raise, and i can use all my uber skills for max damage and get some great xp regardless of "how" i defeat an enemy. thats what turns me off mostly about POTCO, that and the level cap. I invested time and money to get my character up to 40 (not even mentioning my second, that was an afterthought, i wanted to keep playing the game as i was interested still) so if i HAD a choice, id choose to continue playing my first character, rather than start over and over again, so while i cant say it was a waste, I did have fun, i met some good friends, in the long run..well, i feel let down as there isnt nothing for me to do anymore. i cant level (fully mastered) gold limit reached warships bought story quest complete weapon quests done/side quests/bonus quests finished. and now, im "basic" so i cant even use the skills i did earn/ships i bought etc etc. and thats why i dont renew my subscrip, yeah..i miss my friends i made, but really that cant be helped..disney makes it impossible to keep in touch, i understand why they need to protect kids and all, so no complaints, but still i would have liked to stay in contact with a few I made. at the expense of paying for another month, to basically spend 99% of my time just chatting with my friends, its not something i can afford nor really see any point in doing. so thats why i hope they do raise it soon, add new features/goals for the end game users, unless disney does want people to start leaving to greener pastures, like i did. sorry about the long post, originally just intended to state why i want a higher level cap..but my frustrations just sorta came out, and i dont mean to bash, as I do still like the game, i just wish i could find a reason to come back, and i cant currently, till some of these things are expanded and addressed. |
I can relate, but it seems that is the way most these games go these days. Everyone hits the peak, no foresight to any future for when people reach that peak.
As that goes any sight at all it seems. Take this father's day quest, a great blast for the level 40's to watch 0 x 2 rep, woot. |
Agreed with Wheelsim 100%.
It does get boring bland, when there is nothing you can do, but chat. Is it worth the subscrition to talk? Sometimes yes, but mostly no. Money is Money. If you look at it like this, the game itself has been around for about 1 year, Beta included. The Game has only been open to the public for a while now. Im guessing there is room for imporvment. Props to disney though for going all out with POTCO. I mean there is even it's own Phone Line! Then again, how many other games has disney left in the slums, to leave it to get boring. The really BIG limiting factor is the max of 100 rep per enemy (barring double rep and crew bonuses). Right now, a level 10 guy with a doll can get 100 rep for killing a level 18 navy guy. Does it make sense to up his danger level by taking on a level 40 Urchinfist, knowing that the thing does enough damage in one punch to kill him? All for the same measly 100 rep? So while having someone let you rep-leech is easier, it's not really less dangerous. ESPECIALLY now that enemies will up and attack a secondary target. Additionally, the rewards aren't proportional to the danger. If it were, you'd see guys jumping multiple levels on a single kill assist. |
I think they should up it to 60 first, create a new story quest, when people max that out, go up to 80, another story quest and so on and so forth. That way there is always expansion, new islands, new NPC's, new quests to be had new plunder even and ships.
Leveling up to 100 or higher is to much for a new level cap. Every six months our so another twenty levels is fine. Keep in mind not everyone is as dedicated or has the time as some other players do, this gives all the players a good amount of time before the next expansion is added. |
if not notoriety levl caps going up why not the weapons and just add more boss battles to the game like one with jolly roger or one with davy jones and the kraken?

I agree, I only voted 300, because it was stated as the "MAX" notoriety. Raising it to that all at once, with no additional content/changes which I think would be required in making such levels possible would be counterproductive. Would be nice if the capped players had some sort of overflow, that may not count toward notoriety, or weapons skills, but could be counted. +0 Rep + 0 Crew Bonus + 0 Double Rep bonus, was... well... A waste of my time! |
100 is awesome cuz its good heath and u dont have to play pirates 24/7 for 2 years
I think 40-50 is fine, let's get the weapons level higher than 25 and give us a new island with some mobs higher than lvl 40.
I'd like to walk around with lvl 100 above my head
i say 100 casue its not to crazy but its not to low it would give ya something to do for a long long long long long long long long long long time
they just need to raise it.
Rofl i hate leveling. I'm not gonna waste my time getting to an unneeded level........
I have to vote for 60 for now, and then we can see how things are going in terms of glitches, tech problems, etc and if all goes well, let's go for 120! :D
rofl im not goin any higher than 40
50 'bout right remember that they have to add more weapon levels to get us to lv 50.

Well, we see additional weapons (really, higher level of the same weapons) and Boss Enemies on the horizon, so I would say that Disney is definitely working towards this goal, and at a pretty good clip. Considering the game has only been open about a year, they've done a remarkable job of adding content and seem to be really listening to the players.
I voted 300 - not immediately of course, but it's possible over the long run. Up notoriety levels, up weapons levels, add new weapons (blow guns, anyone?), add additional boss battles (as stated: Davy Jones, Jolly Rogers & the Kraken), and more fearsome enemies (cannibals?) and it's entirely feasible. Slowly and gradually. |
none of the above i vote as long as you play increase the needed notoriety by 1-5% infinitely
I went with 80...since it's been what, about a year and look how many have made it to Level 40...with new content being added and more on the way, doubling the Noteriety is in my opinion the best choice to keep people going for the next year...
At least for now it's a good start anyways... |
I think 60 would be nice for starters as well as opening weapon lvls to help achieve this. With the way notoriety needed to lvl goes up each time it would take alot more rep to go from 40-60 than from 1-40.
I voted 300 only because I'm about to suspend my subscription and would gladly keep playing and paying for a long time if the end was harder to reach. I usually play the game with my dad, we just both like the game, and he has cancelled his subscription because he's lvl 40 and has mastered everything. He's a good player, and when guild's fall apart or people stop playing as much it's nice to have someone from real life to count on to help you out. That's no longer the case because he doesn't want to "waste rep" by completing side quests and not being able to get the rep. Or earning new weapons that he can't utilize to level anyway. No one in my family has played for quite awhile and even though I'm not quite lvl 40 yet I'll probably stay away more than I'll be on until the end gets further from sight.

I think 40 is fine untill they get a ton of new quests out then maybe 50 or 60
And also that is 100% true what Crazypirate said unless it is changed
i think 60 would be nice to begin with. once, rather if they add a new chapter quest 60 should be good. a raise of 20 for each new chapter quest.
I think 80 sounds good. I am also going on the assumption that Disney will continue to add new stuff to the game. They better or they will have a shipload of unhappy pirates.
Only as high as the enemy.
Wow, that was an old poll pulled out of the attic ;) I vote 300. Give me more story chapters, raise the weapons cap as well, and that will keep me interested. As it is right now, I'm going to have three mastered pirates by the one year anniversary, and the fourth not far behind, if Disney wants to keep us playing and paying, they have to raise the limits on everything.
I think almost all of you are being completely unrealistic.
1st, every day the basic accounts win with more down grades to paying customers. How many of you have been sending in every day, that you would even like just what we had, let alone upgrades? Watching this post over a few months, it is obvious there is no way they are going to give us upgrades while they beckon to only down grading us that the basic players want. While Disney, even over the phone will not in any way disgust why barrage, blade instinct, spirit mastery, will give same damage with 4 points in it as 5 points in it. Latest test I even did more damage with 4 points than 5 with staff. With down grades to cannon, dagger, combos, pistol, now even recent downgrades to things in pvp. Where does this leave us. If level cap was raised then what. On xd site for a good while I had several Pirates listed at 42. So say that is a start point if cap was raised. GO up several more levels to 50, making cannon, dagger some of these things near what they have been at 40, then what. Even more down grades, let alone things that haven't been touched yet? Its just not likely to happen while we are all being more and more down graded so free accounts, get what ever they want. |
I chose 80 cause its double what we have now :)
