Guild etiquette

What things would you consider should not be done when joining a new guild?

Katie Scarlett 06-08-2008 08:59 PM

Don't invite new Guild Members without an OK

You should not invite new guild members without checking it with your guild first. Some of the other guild members may not appreciate your 'friend' as much as you do. Then you have to explain why you invited someone that's either rude or childish.

I haven't done this, but I have seen the results of it happening. Not fun.:sadmh9:

Well, I know I cant stand a noob swearing, recruiting for another guild, spaming or even constantly TPing without asking. I dont mind my guildees coming to me whenever, but theres some that just are way so immature and TP to me just to tell me to heal them or runs off squacking. OK I guess that ones not so much guildmates as it is friends.

Swash 06-08-2008 11:19 PM

i think the worst part of having a guild is can u help me please help me i need this i need that

AdmiralSavvy 06-09-2008 12:30 AM

All of it but I say the worse is when people act oh so demading, "Heal me" "Help me lvl" all that. I get this randomly in my guild so that's why I made it a rule to ASK, not demand or beg. So anyone who acts overly-demanding will walk the guild plank.

And the teleporting constantly, some people don't like it when just anyone walks in and takes rep or whatever, most people in my guild don't do that, but due to problems in the past, I had to make it a rule. And I bet some people might find people who TP always to be annoying.

And the swearing is annoying too, it's a kids game people, remember that.

Dr. Zeppers 06-09-2008 12:42 AM

Since we werent asked to pick the MOST annoying thing...

All of the above...

The cirumstances of the situation could easily make one weigh more over another.
Selecting one however, would be more or less reflecting acceptance of the others (in my opinion).

Asking to be an officer, asking for help, is not a problem, persistence after being told no, this is what becomes annoying.

Constantly TP'ing to someone is not necessarily a problem, it depends on what you do when you get there.

Recruiting for another guild, spamming chat, and swearing/insulting members... well these things are just automatic DONTs....

i put all of them except starting guild as long as the member does not ask people in their current guild to join his guild then it is fine

davy redflint 06-09-2008 03:31 AM

click them all, u should be able to ask member f help, but try it on ur own first. return the favor if they need help. ask before u tp

Kat Stormhawk 06-09-2008 09:02 PM

I don't mind being asked to give help, but sometimes it does get overwhelming. I find it hard to finish my own quests because I am always off helping someone finish theirs. It bothers me most when the person who constantly asks for help, and receives it, doesn't thank me.

Aliese 06-09-2008 09:48 PM

I've yet to have any issues with the Wenches. :tongue8:

My problems come with "Friends" TPing to me and/or demanding things...

Like others, I don't mind helping. However, I'm playing too. TPing to me the second I sign on expecting me to go plunder, or sending me a whisper that says only "COME TO ME NOW!" doesn't make my gaming experience all that grand.

mlratto 06-09-2008 11:02 PM

exactly

TPing to me the second I sign on expecting me to go plunder, or sending me a whisper that says only "COME TO ME NOW!"

I think i find that to be the most annoying part of the player interaction in the game. 3 or 4 of my friends, who for the most part are good competant players, TP to me the instant i come on line. My pirate needs a couple of minutes to settle in, get some coffee, check his ammo, etc etc. LOL

And there is one guildie who is always saying "come to me". a simple reason along with the request would go a long way me thinks.

But i guess i do have to remember it is a game and many of the players are young kids so...as annoying as it is...i'm learning to live with it.:psmiley35:

Almost forgot I did this, actually thought I had to do it again, it didn't go. It would of been nice to rank these what would be a auto boot, versus warning etc.

Some of this may also vary in size of guild I think. We are looking at 280ish, so teleporting always to officers and such has caused its difficulties.

The teleporting is probably what I think has gotten out of hand a bit, perhaps to the other extreme now.

What we do in the above cases is as follows. 50% of new people coming in with in the first few words asking to be a officer is really a annoyance, than anything else. So we send them to the guild site to learn what they need to do to become a officer. This guides them to completing currant officer quests within the game. Thus problem solved they end up getting to know others and find out if they are fit to be a officer.

Who will level me? Basically this also is more a annoyance, and will usually end with "if you want to hunt with others than take turns healing". Knowing myself everything can be done solo, this is just a ploy for some to caught up with numeral uno.

Joining a guild and than trying to recruit its members.
Swearing, and insulting other members.
Both these are pretty much immediate dismissal from the guild.
(Not to confuse this to others trying to start up their own guild)

Spamming (like 50 straight letter non-sense, or same request over and over)
Teleporting
These we have on a warning system and then you will be out.

Teleporting I think now I am seeing it get carried away imho in the other extreme. There is times some of us are doing grenades, or just working a critter to use the right combo to get the most rep, and boom teteporter incomer starts whacking it.. We Started out with no teleporting to officers without permission, then made it guild wide. Three warnings you are out. The warnings are not getting through some of the thick heads. While others almost sit in waiting for someone to teleport and get all bent out of shape over it.

I am viewing it that warnings need to be stated out right this is your first warning type thing. While others need to lighten up a bit if someone teleports to you once.

Give us a button to accept someone teleporting, best solution.

superblackdoom 06-10-2008 05:52 AM

i would say teleporting insulting and spamming the worst would be tping without asking cause what if someone ot to u and stole rep from u

dangerousden 06-10-2008 12:09 PM

Insulting members or swearing in chat. Instant kick from guild for me, unless taken as a jest in the context. We are always pulling each others leg in the game chat, but we know how far we can go with each other. :laughks2:

Asking "can I be an officer" is ok once. Then when I have told you what I expect from you before I consider you for an officer, dont ask. You perform well, you will be promoted. :dancetl6:

Others are just an annoyance. A warning usually stops them, but a kick puts an end to them permanently :piratear:

cosmic1792 06-11-2008 08:18 PM

most of them are bad but, it gets annoying when the same person tps to u over and over. then my computer freezes.

dark_prince19930 06-11-2008 09:53 PM

i agree with everyone here. but my pirate peev is when noobs look for the strongest pirate around then out of nowhere asks to be in there crew or guild or friend. then if they say no they keep pestering you till you run or give up and add them. then the teleporting, o i wish the noobs in open would stop teleporting to me asking where i got clothes where i go to gain weapon levels easy. just last night i was trying to level up my gun and some noob teleported to me and jumped in front of me and took my rep then i pickes a yellow for me and shot it. the noob came again i let him get killed and wispered stay away from my rep. i no it was mean but he kept annoing me would anyone else have done the same?

Wheelsim 06-11-2008 09:58 PM

Its madding.. but really its not like you can stop it anyway.. theyll keep coming back lol
