why is cargo so cheap?

The other day I was with a friend on his war galleon we killed like six skeleton ships and only got cargo crates same thing happened today I was on frigate and killed a Iron wall and a centurion only cargo crates!

Swash 06-03-2008 09:24 PM

i know i wish that the type of ship determined what cargo u got like lights give crates regs give treasure chests and wars give royal

WilliamMcSilver 06-03-2008 09:41 PM

that'd be sweet

I believe it varies, I also think it may depend partially on how hard it was to defeat the ship your plundering.

Seems to me even if I sink big ships... if they were easily sunk (as in previously damaged) I get lower rewards.

I had a tough go of a Spanish Blood Scourge the other day... got stuck as only remaining crewman on deck (with my lvl33 pirate). After surviving and wiping out about 5 waves of Captains, piratas, and conquistadors... I finally won. Pulled in a couple royal chests, a couple treasure chests, and some cargo to boot... was worth a bundle :)

still hard to believe all were full health!

Mystdee 06-12-2008 09:05 PM

I think it makes a difference also how much "treasure sense" you have skilled up.

Chris 06-12-2008 11:53 PM

i agree i do believe we need more money i mean sinking a lvl 39 harbinger and getting 1 cargo crate come on!

the light - cargo reg- treasure and the war - royal is a good idea except u would see no war i think the odds should be alot better of getting a royal from a war than a reg but still

i still think they need a drop cargo feature where u can choose to drop some cargo

Tab1975 06-13-2008 08:07 PM

EXACTLY! We were sinking MOW left and right last night and getting cargo crates. I shot at a Bloodhound and was told by the captain to not bother because it didn't carry enough treasure. Turns out I'd got it fired up, it started firing back so Captain nailed it with broadsides and...we got a royal off of it.

I was pretty proud of myself, I was.

Where was I?

OH YEAH.

UH...made no sense.

Wheelsim 06-13-2008 11:28 PM

But yeah i agree taht your loot should be based on what kind of ship u have the higher the ship the better the loot.

superblackdoom 06-14-2008 02:03 AM

probably some glitch on the skele ships or its the server u were on

Chris 06-14-2008 03:08 AM

well we sunk a marurder and got 2 rc then later sunk a harbinger and got a cargo crate?

Wheelsim 06-14-2008 03:08 AM

or just bad luck.. either way it sucks

banshe 06-14-2008 04:43 AM

i got royals from regs before my treasure sense is rank 4 but its just one royal and treasure or just royal
and ive gotten royal trasure and cago from light flag ships

When I was plundering with my guild, we were getting about 800-1000g per run. It was crazy :pirate6:

yeah that's what I bout average behind padres outcast and tormenta.I would like to see the drop cargo feature incorporated in the game.I was hitting some level 40 dreadnoughts yesterday and 1 paid 3 royals while another paid 1 crate? Then I turned around and hit a level 37 harbinger for a treasure chest and crate and Revenant for a royal?I don't know all these ships were full health I desailed them all and my treasure sense is maxed at 5.I think the cargo is pretty random from so many tests i have done sailing the past few weeks. At most I was able to get 10 royals on 1 trip though. The level 30 and up ships do tend to pay out more often than the smaller ships I have noticed that.

I find that the lower level you are, the better plunder you get for sinking high level ships. & I also think that having a huge crew is also really really useful.

So it doesn't seem like it's worth putting any points into treasure sense?

I don't know sometimes it seems like it's working and other times it seems like a total flop.I see some people get better cargo than me sometimes with 0 treasure sense.Treasure sense may or may not work but I wouldn't risk not having it just in case.Because I have let lower level pirates sail my ship and they would end up getting crates and less often find royals without treasure sense for sinking the same targeted ships.

Nelly Darkpaine 06-22-2008 04:42 PM

I dont know... I think it also has to do with what you're sailing. Believe it or not, I got a Royal off of a Ferret AND off of a Bulwark this past week. (Had people with, we all got a laugh) and PERSONALLY, I almost NEVER get Royals off of Black Harbingers. (So I usually don't shoot em!)

I agree with the huge crew part. I have been getting better plunder with larger crews lately vs 0-3 other crew mates.the lower level on bigger ships is not as true as you would think it should be because I've let lower level 5-18 notoriety players sail my ships while I cannoned and found less on the Big Ships and I tried to explain to them that's when treasure sense might play a factor.

Lately for me the Harbingers have been one of the ships that have paid the most royals to me.Well I own all the warships and I've tried them all out equally and seems as if my War Galleon had better finds than the War Sloop and War Frigate.Even though the War Galleon holds more cargo I only used the same cargo amount as the War Sloop to get accurate results. The War Frigate in most situations seem to have the worse outings.I've been sailing day and night everyday comparing results to come up with some type of formula.I'm going to continue researching and comparing with crews and without crews.Taking the sails off of ships vs not taking the sails off of ships.Small ships vs Big Ships and so on.I'm also going to start keeping tabs on cargo with screen shots at the end of my trips to keep records.
