Bannable In-Game Behavior?

Hi,

I'm curious. What sorts of things in the game can get you banned? A couple of times when we've been online, there will be someone that follows my daughter around and just shoots at her. They don't do any damage of course. It's just annoying. If it was just once, I'd assume it was an accident. But they do it repeatedly and follow us around.

Can you report these people? How do you do that?

Thanks,

Michael

If you click on the obnoxious player a menu will appear with a report option; I think rude behavior is one of the sub-choices.

You can always switch servers, too.

I mentioned VOdka and Coke and got a warning from Disney for saying it lol. But its ok to say Rum.

Bilgepump 05-21-2008 12:00 PM

Make sure the person isn't on their friends list, and change servers.

Haffgrim 05-21-2008 12:57 PM

that's kinda strange i bet if pirates had a chance they'd drink vodka. i bet one of my friends has got a lot cause of coke!!

Angel 05-21-2008 07:21 PM

Well, we cant say what it would take to get banned from the game here cause it would most likely result in a ban here as well. However I can tell you if you cant say it in 6th grade, you cant say it in the game.

BTW, please report the obnoxious troll for rude behavior and make sure hes not a friend on her pirate.

As far as what gets someone banned, There is an intriguing lack of consistency and common sense that keeps us all guessing.

The one time I was suspended, the other half of the same conversation had thier ban lifted.

I learned this from that adventure:

(My approach) The polite, common sense, intelligent, and informative approach will always fail to reverse a suspension, as the Disney rep can ignore you for the duration of your conversation.

(My friends approach) The rude approach, name calling, cursing, telling the Customer Service rep they dont know what thier doing, are doing a crummy job, and that thier company is a pile of etc etc.. gets your suspension lifted.

Go figure.

As mentioned before, make sure the individual is NOT on the pirates friends list, report them, and then change to another server. (hopefully you can be done with them from that point!)

The best you can do is report the person and let Disney determine whether or not this is harassing behavior. I remember reading somewhere that they prefer you to put the person on ignore and change servers, and everything within your power to avoid them, before you make a report. This of course is not the case under those special situations when that can be harmful (asking for real life information, using vulgar language...and so on).

oh my goodness, that's what happend to me one day. We followed him all the way to Padres Del Fuego- which had NO POint what so ever due to the fact that we can't kill eachother. but in the end we just ended up reporting him ;) lol

i have a question related to this topic.

how long does it take for disney to ban you after you do the crime? say you said something bad in-game, and you were reported for it. how long would it take them to get the report and bann/suspend you???

CaptainGreenGene 05-22-2008 02:48 AM

banned

Many of the members of my guild have received warnings for saying here they live and how old they are. One member got short term ban for saying he was on ******* and where to find him there

Haffgrim 05-22-2008 12:58 PM

well i understand that. I HATE when those low lvl scum follow you and shoot you it's nerve racking!!!!

shadowypirate 05-22-2008 03:53 PM

Never say "rep stealer" and "freaking retard"

That got me banned for 3 days.

"rep stealer" got you banned? I'm not sure how this is a bannable offense. It certainly is not ideal behavior but...that's just silly.

My littlest sister is severly mentally disabled, to the extent that she will never be able to talk, much less care for herself.

Hearing or seeing anyone use the word "retard" like that makes me want to punch them in the face.

I dont think anyone questions the implications of the term "retard" and how it can definately be hurtful.
However "Rep Stealer" is not at all the same, it is a reference to a game player that is playing the game with bad etiquette. This is definately NOT a banning offense. To backup or support a child in thier decision to act/behave poorly (by banning those pointing it out), and show bad etiquette is in itself tragic, and a disservice to society.

I think Bilge may have quoted the wrong post. The one above it was the one with the offending issue.

Another thing that will get you suspended is giving out a user Handle, even if it is a very creative way. I know, cause instead of on the back beach of padres, I get to take a 3 day vacation!!!

i know in the rules it also says "dont cheat" by using 3rd party programs...but you know how some people do glitches for their own advantage, like the skeleton for unlimited amo...is that considered cheating?

That's a good point. Exploting glitches I think would be considered cheating, maybe not if you actually report the glitch and just continue to exploit it until they fix it lol. However I have never reported glitches I found useful so I doubt anyone else would.

David 05-28-2008 02:01 AM

yea, i know other games dont like people abusing bugs and glitches, but everyone on pirates do glitches of like unlimited life and stuff. i dont do any because i always think i could get banned and stuff, i just play fair.

A glitch isn't a 3rd party cheat, its exploitation for sure, but its not like downloading a program to give you unlimited health.

Agreed - the D Devs already know that the POTCO 'World' has holes all over the place and the time to repair these vs. working on other issues is Low Priority at the moment (fix crashing issue or plug a pixel somewhere...)

Well this was a bug from PvP - and turned out to benifit Players more than Devs would like so it got Higher Priority to fix (simply because its use was spreading quickly - and already the POTCO World has enough 'small glitches' where this one was a doozy...

Its like when the power goes out across 50,000 customer - you fix the problem first which gets you the most customer back up and running the quickest - then the next problem which get the next biggest number - until they are left fixing a small number of 'pockets' to wrap up... unfortunately if your the small pocket - you get moved down to the bottom of the list :)

Jane 05-28-2008 02:07 PM

if you are banned can you evere get back on?

Angel 05-28-2008 08:55 PM

I agree fully MaxximVs. And Jane, once you suspended you have 3 days off. Sometimes it takes a phone call to get back on. I cant answer you on the banned, but I do think you will lose your account if you get banned perminantly.

Easter Crisp 05-29-2008 12:53 AM

Dad always said to me, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all"

I always speak to other players as I would wish them speak to me.

It's a good rule, and makes the game more enjoyable.

(Thanks to all for the info on this thread, because I was concerned with what is considered a 'no-no' among the POTC crew)

Chris 05-29-2008 01:14 AM

ok u cant give URLs in game that will get u banned no talk in appropriate stuff with the exception of rum (and if they banned u for saying rum well they need to ban themselves they have an entire island made after rum @_@)

for the official rules and guidelines click here or here

David 05-29-2008 03:37 AM

i still would like someone to answer my question about:

say you get reported for something or reported someone for no reason. how long does it take from when you did that, for u to get banned.....

example: i did something bad today and got reported for it...will my pirate be banned tomorow? or when?

depends though my study of potco bans it seems that disney has programs which weed out certain words (lets say .com) and it will file an automated report but the computer CAN NOT ban u the report goes to a mod which will make a decision to ban or not to ban u this can take anywhere from an hour to a day depending how many staff are on duty and how many reports are being filed

(plz note player reports are the same they will be put on a waiting list until a mod can get to them)

David 05-29-2008 11:33 AM

ok, so the best bet would be from an hour to 3 days? that sounds like my old game, i just wanted to make sure. Thanks chris!
